ARCTIC  GALES  &  NEVERENDING

 Como lo prometido es deuda en lo referente a traer al blog el nuevo material de la banda italiana "Frozen Crown", y teniendo en cuenta todo lo que rodea a este grupo de reciente formación, quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de las canciones pertenecientes a este "Crowned in frost" del presente 2019. Todo lo dicho para el grupo y el disco debut de "Frozen crown" está completamente vigente en esta segunda entrega, solo que además hay que añadir que van dejando atrás, con este paso adelante, lo de futura promesa para ser un grupo que apuesta con fuerza por abrirse camino hacia la cima, con esa mezcla entre un sonido que bebe del mejor de los sonidos clásicos y la frescura de los tiempos que corren para hacer un sonido que puede gustar tanto a los más curtidos metalheads como a las generaciones más nuevas. Buen ejemplo es su primer single, "Neverending" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Atlas Pain - Odaudlegur

ODAUDLEGUR

Tras el primer disco de la banda italiana "Atlas Pain", "What the oak left" de 2017, una obra magnífica más teniendo en cuenta que fue la primera, nos dejan este año su segundo LP de estudio "Tales of a pathfinder" con la difícil misión de confirmar lo demostrado en su debut y colmar así las expectativas despertadas. Con ese estilo que muchas veces roza lo desarrollado por bandas como Equilibrium, (excelente espejo en el que mirarse), el grupo parece en esta segunda obra intentar tirar por la misma senda. Este "Tales of a pathfinder" vio la luz de forma oficial el pasado 19 de abril y de él hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Odaudlegur", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Savatage - Blackjack Guillotine

BLACKJACK  GUILLOTINE

 Savatage es otra de esas bandas cuya fama ha llegado a casi todos los rincones de nuestro universo metálico, un grupo que ha sabido siempre ofrecer calidad y cambiar su estilo según sus necesidades compositivas, pasando por etapas más heavy metal de la old school, por otras más progresivas y conceptuales o incluso por otras que hacían más guiños al power. Formados en 1983 han editado, a fecha de esta reseña, 11 LP's y aunque llevan sin elaborar material nuevo desde 2001, su estatus como banda no es exactamente de grupo terminado. Hoy me quiero referir a su penúltimo disco de estudio, en una onda abiertamente progresiva y conceptual, como ya hiciesen en el anterior "Dead winter dead" del 95. Con este "The Wake of Magellan" del 97 estamos ante una obra un tanto más melódica, con muchos de los rasgos de su anterior disco pero algo menos cañera. Un disco en el que destacan varias de sus canciones, una de ellas este "Blackjack Guillotine", de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

CRACK  THE  SKY

Estamos ya ante la inminente salida del undécimo disco de estudio de los suecos Amon Amarth, una banda de esas que también levantan enormes expectativas ante cada material nuevo que deciden publicar. El disco, "Berserker", verá la luz de manera oficial el próximo 3 de mayo y nos ha dejado ya un par de adelantos que nos enseñan por donde pueden ir los tiros de la nueva obra. Por lo presentado hasta la fecha parece que seguirán por el sendero de las últimas obras, una vez más para celebración del los seguidores más nuevos del grupo, quizá no tanto para los más viejos ya que como he dicho en alguna ocasión parece que la banda ha decidido alejarse de aquel sonido más extremo de los comienzos para acercarse aun sonido más melódico y vendible, eso si, siempre dentro del death melódico. Canciones para una vida - Manowar - Blood And Steel

BLOOD  AND  STEEL

Cuando ya pensábamos que lo habíamos visto todo sobre esta banda y su extraordinario talento para vender lo máximo posible con el mínimo esfuerzo van y se sacan de la manga una fórmula nueva, la de dividir un disco en tres EP's para, evidentemente, sacar mayor rendimiento econónimo a una docena de canciones, y es que, si vendiesen un disco nuevo a más de treinta euros ni ellos mismos lo comprarían, sin embargo, en tres cómodos plazos de diez euros que seguramente costará cada EP la cosa es mucho más factible. Desde luego estos tíos son únicos, para lo bueno y lo malo. Tras esa anunciada gira mundial de despedida, aplazada hasta la saciedad, esas noticias turbias del guitarrista expulsado de la banda por temas tan serios, tenían que sacarse de la manga algo para seguir ingresando pasta, pero no se si es la mejor solución. Sea como fuere, en lo extrictamente musical, estos tíos a mi siempre me han gustado, más al inicio, sin duda, pero han sabido dejar su sello en esto del Heavy para todo la eternidad. El primer EP de los tres citados, "The final battle I", llega con cuatro temas, uno de ellos una intro, editado en formato digital salió de manera oficial el pasado 29 de marzo, nada espectacular, para nada lo mejor de su carrera, pero siempre con ese gancho "True" tan marca de la casa. Cumpliendo todos los tópicos del grupo, de él hoy quiero dejar la canción que me ha parecido más acertada del cuarteto de temas que nos presentan, "Blood and steel".

BISMARCK

 Sabaton es una de esas bandas que han alcanzado ese "Status" de grupo al que se espera con ganas, de esos grupos que toda la comunidad metálica mira con expectación cada material muevo que editan, y estamos en plena espera a la inminente salida del que será ya noveno álbum de estudio de la banda sueca, cuya salida oficial se espera para julio del presente 2019. Entre tanto, el grupo nos ha dejado un single de adelanto, que curiosamente no aparece en el track list de la edición regular del mencionado disco, "The great war", no se si este single "Bismarck" terminará apareciendo en las lógicas ediciones especiales, (Digipack, japonesa, etc). Lo que está claro es que ya tenemos confirmación de que Sabaton siguen sonando a Sabaton, y la salida de este single confirma esa idea a la que me refería al inicio de que toda la comunidad metálica está a la espera de cualquier cosa que edite la banda con más de medio millón de visualizaciones de su clip en youtube en menos de 24 horas, un clip oficial al que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Bloodshed Walhalla - Ragnarok

RAGNAROK

Poco a poco va tomando forma la discografía de la banda (mono miembro) Bloodshed Walhalla, de origen italiano y de regusto absolutamente clásico en lo que al sonido viking ambiental se refiere, con esas continuas reminiscencias a Bathory o Falkenbach que han estado presentes también en la estructura misma de las canciones, absolutamente ambientales, largas y complejas al tiempo que épicas y melódicas. Una vez más me quiero acercar a la obra de este italiano para dejar un tema del que resulta ser, a fecha de esta reseña, último disco editado por "Bloodshed Walhalla", "Ragnarok" de 2018. Cuatro temas lo componen extendiéndose, eso sí, por más de una hora, en temas largos marca de la casa, como decía más arriba. Canciones para una vida - Eluveitie - The Raven Hill

THE  RAVEN  HILL

El pasado 4 de abril salio el octavo disco de estudio de la banda suiza Eluveitie, un grupo que al inicio de su carrera, hace ya más de 15 años, deslumbró al mundo metálico con su estilo personal y reconocible, una promesa de futuro brillante que por uno u otro motivo en las ultimas obras no parece haber llegado a colmar las expectativas generadas. En mi opinión, ese nivel, ese equilibrio entre la fuerza, la melodía, los elementos folk y death melódicos alcanzada en obras como sobre todo "Slania" se han echado en falta con el mismo acierto. Es cierto que este grupo siempre deja más de una perla en todas las composiciones que acomete, pero a lo que me refiero es a cada disco en su conjunto. Hoy quiero referirme a la última de la obras editada, la octava como decía más arriba, de título "Ategnatos", con esa idea general en la cabeza, y parece ir cumpliendo lo esperado, con una sensación eso sí, de mayor acierto, sobre todo que la anterior obra, demasiado acústica, "Evocation II". En "Ategnatos" encontramos mayor contundencia metálica, más posiblemente que en las anteriores obras de la últia década, y eso les devuelve un cierto margen en mi opinión. Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Gloria In Regum

GLORIA  IN  REGUM

Parece evidente que Brymir ha dado un paso adelante en lo que ha encontrar una senda estilística, compositiva y de calidad propia se refiere, y esta tercera, y hasta la fecha de este reseña, última obra de estudio "Wings of fire" es un ejemplo perfecto de lo dicho. Ya he acudido a este disco en tres ocasiones y su concepto del death melódico tan propio es posible que me haga volver a ella en alguna ocasión más. Por lo tanto tan solo redundar en lo dicho anteriormente, y que mejor manera de lograrlo que dejar el tema que abre la obra, "Gloria In Regum" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gladenfold - Brothers

BROTHERS

Parece que al fin va cogiendo velocidad de crucero la carrera musical de la banda finlandesa "Gladenfold", quienes el próximo mes de mayo editaran su segundo LP en una carrera demasiado larga ya, (desde 2003) para el material que hasta la fecha de esta reseña han editado. El sonido de este buen grupo se mueve entre un death melódico que poco a poco va haciendo más guiños cada vez al power metal.Además de los LP's han editado también tres EP's y desde sus inicios han enseñado ese enorme potencial que en esta segunda obra de estudio les toca confirmar. Hasta el momento, por lo adelantado de este "When Gods Descend" de este 2019 parece evidente que van a seguir en su línea ascendente que de haber justicia debería dar a la banda mayor reconocimiento. Canciones para una vida - Nordic Union - It Burns

IT  BURNS

Ya el inicio de esta banda el pasado 2016 nos demostró como cuando unen fuerzas músicos de primer nivel tan solo pueden esprarse buenas cosas, y es que Nordic Union, como ya he dicho en este blog es la unión del sueco Erik Martensson a la guitarra (Eclipse) y el danés Ronnie Atkins a la voz (Pretty Maids), en una tesitura estilística muy en la onda de lo que ambos suelen realizar con sus bandas madre, hard heavy pues de primerísimo nivel que en este "Second coming" como puede deducirse del título su segundo LP que sigue sin lugar a dudas la senda de calidad y acierto de su debut del 16. Disco pues recomendable, sobre todo para fans del estilo de Pretty Maids, Eclipse y bandas similares, completo, y que se disfruta de comienzo a fin por lo equilibrado de sus composiciones, la calidad de las mismas y de la producción y la categoría de sus componentes, largamente demostrada en su historia personal. Este segundo LP ha sido editado a finales de 2018 y de él quiero hoy dejar una de sus canciones en el blog, en concreto "It Burns", completamente enganchona y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Frozen Crown - I Am The Tyrant

I  AM  THE  TYRANT

Frozen Crown es una banda italiana que practica un sonido a medio camino de varias cosas, con un innegable aire moderno también tiene una base power y un cierto flirteo con pasages de voz gutural, que alterna en ocasiones con la voz principal femenina. Frozen Crown se han formado recientemente y sin embargo han decidido ser de esos grupos que han puesto el listón compositivo alto sacando 2 disco en apenas dos años, el último de ellos del presente 2019 y del que hablaré proximamente en el blog. Tras la banda se encuentra como principal impulsor el músico multi instrumentista Federico Mondelli, guitarra, bajo teclados y voz, que ejerce también como voz y coros en sus obras además de ser el principal compositor del grupo. Hoy quiero traer al blog el primero de los, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, discos que han editado, de título "The fallen king", de 2018 y del que hoy quiero dejar la canción "I Am The Tyrant", muy al estilo de los suecos "Brothers of metal", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gloryhammer - Gloryhammer

GLORYHAMMER

Ya tenemos aquí el primer adelanto del que será el tercer LP de la banda "Gloryhammer", liderada por la figura de Christopher Bowes, de la banda escocesa Alestorm. Una de las virtudes compositivas de este grupo es esa sensación de continuidad entre uno y otro disco, que una vez más parece tener continuidad con este primer adelanto de la que será, como digo, tercera obra de la banda, "Legends from beyond the galactic terrorvortex" que verá la luz de manera oficial a finales del próximo mes de mayo del presente 2019. A juzgar por lo escuchado en este adelanto titulado "Gloryhammer" , más de lo mismo, con todas las virtudes de este power metal de manual que realiza esta banda, muy para los amantes del género, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Edguy - Deadmaker

DEADMAKER

Aunque se trata del segundo LP de la banda alemana Edguy, este "Kingdom Of Madness" de 1997 se puede considerar como la obra inicial ya que "Savage Poetry" puede considerarse más bien como una especie de Demo sobre todo en lo que a la calidad de grabación se refiere, algo a lo que pusieron remedio en 2000 con la reedición de la obra en cuarta posición cronológicamente hablando, ya como un LP en condiciones. En cualquier caso, en este "Kingdom of madness" nos encontramos con uns Edguy incipientes, con toda la ilusión por delante y muchos de sus rasgos caracterísicos que ya comenzaban a apreciarse, un potencial que empezaba a dejar ver la capacidad de la figura tras la banda, Tobias Sammet. De este trabajo de Edguy hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Deadmaker", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Slaves On The Run

SLAVES  ON  THE  RUN

Con el sonido de esta banda, con el sello del alemán Axel Rudi Pell a la guitarra siempre es lo mismo, garantía de calidad, sonido predecible pero sin sentido negativo, pero desde luego si además hay algo que no se le puede negar al músico es la consistencia en lo que a material editado se refiere, y es que Axel es como un reloj de precisión, sacando material cada año o cada dos, ya sea LP nuevo, un recopilatorio de baladas, uno normal o un disco en vivo. Este 2019 será un disco de este último tipo, (directo) el que pondrá una X en su lista de años con material editado. "30 Anniversary live" verá la luz el próximo junio y recopila canciones de todas las obras de la banda en estos treinta años de historia y 14 LP's de estudio, incluyendo temas del último editado "Knights Call" del pasado 2018, del que dejo hoy una canción en el blog, "Slaves on the run" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. 100% Axel Rudi Pell, como siempre.
