Overdrive (UK) - On The Run - Canciones Para Una Vida

ON  THE  RUN 

Vamos hoy con una de las bandas que ha adoptado el nombre de Overdrive para intentar una carrera musical dentro del sonido metálico, en esta ocasión con los británicos a los que se incluye en el movimiento de la NWOBHM, por lo tanto nos encontramos ante una propuesta de los ochenta con un heavy metal de su época. Es una banda que ha cambiado de nombre en algunas ocasiones y que una vez más, a pesar de poseer muchas y suficientes virtudes para alcanzar mayor éxito, su inconstancia dictó sentencia, máxime perteneciendo a tan saturada escena en ese momento como la británica. En 1981 editaban el EP "On the run", con tres canciones, y del que dejo en el blog la que da nombre a la obra, de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Amorphis - Dancing Shadow - Canciones Para Una Vida

DANCING  SHADOW 

Poco más de un mes nos queda para la salida oficial de la nueva obra de estudio de los finlandeses Amorphis, y mientras esperamos la salida de "Borderland" no puede uno por menos que acercarse a cada adelanto que el grupo nos va dejando a modo de miguitas antes del banquete. Triumph - Rock 'N Roll Machine - Canciones Para Una Vida

  

ROCK  'N  ROLL  MACHINE

Los canadienses Triumph son un ejemplo más de lo delgada que puede ser la línea entre el hard rock y el heavy, y son una de esas bandas que flirtearon con ese sonido, sobre todo en la parte inicial de su carrera cuando incluso el sonido heavy estaba aún por definirse y explotar, y es que los canadienses comenzaron como banda en 1975, y con un periodo de actividad hasta el presente realmente a nivel compositivo se les puede seguir la pista hasta mitad de los 90. Cosschan un notable éxito de ventas muy desde el inicio, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su segundo album de estudio, "Rock 'n roll machine" de 1977, como decía más arriba en sus momentos más hard 'n heavy como en el tema que da nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

TYR - The Rune (2025) - Canciones Para Una Vida

THE  RUNE  (2025  VERSION) 

Está claro que los feroeses TYR están en un buen momento de su carrera, con su último trabajo de estudio aún cercano, (2024), "Battle Ballads" que supuso su noveno LP, ahora recuperan un tema clásico del grupo, "The Rune" originalmente compuesto y publicado en su album de 2002 "How far to Asgard", que fue su primer LP, dandole un toque más actual aunque manteniendo esa especia de toque progresivo que tanto se les notaba en la parte inicial de su carrera. El caso es que parece una buena idea, sobre todo cuando se hace tan bien, mantenerse un poco a la vista del gran público recuperando algún tema clásico propio y de paso autopromocionar su carrera. Silence - Devil Woman - Canciones Para Una Vida

DEVIL  WOMAN 

De nuevo otro ejemplo de los inicios de nuestro amado sonido, una vez más inicios de los 70 (1971) para comprobar que ceñirnos a los tópicos de los nombres más conocidos y reconocidos no resulta del todo justo, al final siempre defenderé que el heavy metal nace de muchas cosas diferentes, en muchos puntos diferentes para dar lugar a toda una corriente evolutiva que explotaría definitivamente con la llegada de la década de los ochenta. En esta ocasión un single suelto, de una banda a la que no conozco nada más editado, los holandeses Silence, su single "Mother's game Devil Woman" de 1971, con ese innegable origen sonoro hard rockero evolucionando a algo más contundente, proto heavy, germen global en los setenta, del que dejo la canción "Devil Woman", más historia hoy en el blog.

Iron Maiden - Prowler - Canciones Para Una Vida

PROWLER  (DEMO  VERSION) 

Vamos de nuevo con uno de los grupos míticos entre los míticos, los eternos Iron Maiden, y vamos hoy a repasar sus mismos comienzos, a finales muy finales de los setenta cuando en noviembre de 1979 publican su primer material en forma de demo, y ya desde ese mismo momento dejaron bien claro que no iban a ser una banda más, en absoluto, llegaban para hacerse los dueños de todo, y así lo hicieron. La citada demo "The soundhouse tapes" contenía tres canciones, dos de las cuales se incluirían al año siguiente en su primer LP, una de ellas, "prowler" es la que dejo hoy en el blog como testigo y contribución al heavy setentero que desembocaría sobre todo en la NWOBHM y a nivel global en el heavy metal de los ochenta.

Otra banda más de reciente formación (2021) que en este 2025 publican su debut en formato LP, se trata de los alemanes MT Metal, y de su disco "The metal gods demand sacrifice", que ha visto la luz de forma oficial hace solo unos días, (9 de agosto). Con un estilo particular y personal el trasfondo compositivo es un heavy metal clásico como digo de personal interpretación, y hoy de su disco debut dejo en el blog la canción "Thank the gods (heavy metal came to town)", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

LOVEDRIVE 

La grandeza de los alemanes Scorpions es algo que debería estar fuera de toda duda, a pesar de los pesares, por mucho que a muchos les pueda joder y además lo son y serán por muchos motivos, la parte histórica, la comercial y de ventas y la estrictamente compositiva, no solo las cifras lo confirman, (que son un fantástico barómetro), también la cantidad de músicos de primera línea que defienden su trabajo como una influencia para ellos fundamental. En 1979, la banda editaba su sexta obra de estudio, y parecía lanzarse a por el cetro mundial del sonido encontrándose ya muchos nexos sonoros con el sonido que les elevaría al siguiente nivel de reconocimiento en masa, un disco este "Lovedrive" del que quiero dejar en el blog hoy la canción que le da nombre y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Sintage - Blood Upon The Stage - Canciones Para Una Vida

BLOOD  UPON  THE  STAGE 

Otra banda de esta década (formados en 2019) de las que han escogido un sonido clásico dentro de lo que es heavy metal en si mismo, son ya legión los grupos que están recurriendo al genuino y por otra parte honesto sonido de la vieja escuela, mucho más fiel en estudio respecto a lo que se mostrará luego en vivo que otros estilos que ha de recurrir a multitud de efectos grabados en sus presentaciones en directo, desde las intros hasta las orquestaciones, al final todo está ya inventado, y pocas cosas hay más efectivas que el heavy metal de la old school presentado en directo. Esta banda alemana a la que me estoy refiriendo hoy es Sintage, y en este 2025 presentará su segundo LP de estudio allá por octubre, y de él dejo hoy en el blog su adelanto "Blood upon the stage" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Repasando una vez más los comienzos de nuestro sonido quiero volver de nuevo a los escoceses Nazareth, innegable influencia y contribuyentes a que el heavy metal naciese y se desarrollase, una vez más hablamos de la década de los setenta donde todo se gestó para terminar explotando con el nacimiento de la década de los ochenta, en este caso recurro a una de las obras más celebradas de la mencionada banda, su sexto LP de estudio "Hair of the dog", de 1975, considerada por seguidores y crítica como una de las más importantes de la banda y un disco fundamental dentro del hard rock. Feanor - Sirens Of Death - Canciones Para Una Vida

SIRENS  OF  DEATH 

Ya a través del nombre llega uno a la conclusión de por donde pueden ir los tiros de esta banda argentina, Feanor, Tokien y fantasía envueltos en una cubierta sonora de heavy power metal, menos power que heavy en esta ocasión. Formados en 1996, hasta la fecha de esta reseña la banda ha publicado cuatro LP's de estudio a los que sumar este quinto, "Hellhammer" que verá la luz de forma oficial a mitad de septiembre. Inicialmente cantando en castellano, ya desde hace una década lo hacen en inglés. De este nuevo disco dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su adelanto "Sirens of death".

Black Sabbath - Tomorrow's Dream - Canciones Para Una Vida

TOMORROW'S  DREAM 

Corria el año 1972, y los británicos Black Sabbath comenzaban a recoger los frutos de sus tres discos anteriores en forma de reconocimiento general, pero también por ello, para su cuarta obra "Vol 4" parecían tener la necesidad de dar un paso más evolutivo, querían seguir creciendo para alcanzar el trono absoluto, y al mismo tiempo hacer crecer su sonido como también sentian que lo hacían ellos como músicos. No resulta nunca fácil ese tipo de circunstancias y el grupo ha reconocido que, aún sintiendo que seguramente "Vol 4" sea uno de sus mejores discos, recuerdan la grabación del mismo con sensaciones encontradas.
