DESTINATION

Dieciseis son los LP's que la banda germana Crematory ha grabado desde su inicio allá por 1991, si incluimos este "destination" que verá la luz el próximo mes de mayo y del que en estos días nos han dejado su primer adelanto que es la canción que dará nombre a la obra, canción de la que dejo en el blog hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Black Sabbath - TV Crimes

TV  CRIMES

Cuando un grupo alcanza las cotas de éxito y respeto general que alcanzó Black Sabbath, lo más dificil debe ser mantener el nivel, ser fieles a si mismos ya que en ese punto está la clave por la que alcanzarón ese éxito, sin embargo hay otro tipo de cuestiones que se salen de lo estrictamente musical o compositivo, como la ida y venida de miembros en las bandas, y como esa marcha de músicos afecta a lo que queda de la banda desde dentro y desde fuera, en el caso de Black Sabbath la salida de Ozzy Osbourne del grupo fue su momento más crítico, si puede expresarse así, con el cambio de década, al entrar los 80, el reemplazo fue nada menos que por Dio, y desde luego eso hizo posible que la banda continuase haciendo crecer su mito. En 1992, Black Sabbath editaba su décimo sexto LP de estudio, "Dehumanizer", que terminaría por ser el último del cantante citado y que muestra un sonido adaptado a la época y con la calidad de la banda que es imposible que no aparezca, un disco del que hoy dejo en el blog una de sus canciones, "TV Crimes" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

PAPER  TIGER

Que enorme momento vive esta banda sueca, Arch Enemy, grupo que sigue creciendo obra tras obra, no solo en reconocimiento y número de seguidores, sino en calidad y versatilidad, aumentando sus registros e incorporando cada vez mayor cantidad de sonidos como ocurre en el nuevo adelanto de "Blood Dynasty" que lleva por título "Paper Tiger" y en el que flirtean con un sonido de heavy metal clásico, siempre con el aporte death melódico vocal de Alissa, pero que resulta absolutamente adictivo, un tema del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

GODS  OF  THUNDER  OF  WIND  AND  OF  RAIN

Si algo ha significado Bathory para la música ha sido su condición de banda pionera, uno de esos grupos que han abierto camino siendo espejo para muchos otros y siendo un instrumento para ensanchar el horizonte de su nicho sonoro, hablamos por supuesto del concepto vikingo en su amplio sentido musical. Comenzando su camino a comienzos de los ochenta, poca duda puede despertar la afirmación de su título de pionero en lo suyo, y doce LP's han conformado su discografía hasta el prematuro fallecimiento de Quorton en 2004. Nuevo adelanto de los alemanes Brainstorm, quienes, domando un poco su agresivo inicio de carrera, han perfeccionado un sonido mucho más asequible al gran público, sobre todo desde que han puesto en manos de Seeb Levermann el tema de la producción y grabación de su material, el resultado esta cada vez más a la vista, sonido cada vez más asentado en la nueva dirección, y un nombre que va también creciendo obra tras obra. Canciones para una vida - Yngwie Malmsteen - Perpetual

 

PERPETUAL

"Fire and Ice" es posiblemente, en mi opinión, una de las obras más equilibradas del genio de las cuerdas sueco Yngwie Malmsteen, un disco que pone en equilibrio conceptos que en ocasiones el guitarrista no ha sabido mantener igualados, aquí los temas gozan de la preponderancia justa entre el innegablemente buscada y merecida atención sobre el virtuosismo de Yngwie, pero sin negar el lucimiento a la portentosa voz de Goran Edman, en un momento de su carrera enorme en 1992, y momentos necesarios para el acceso a las radios del momento con temazos por ejemplo como "Teaser", el conjunto es un disco seguramente más completo que ningún otro de la discografía del sueco, en que no echaremos nada en falta de lo esperable para él, pero si un plus por el conjunto. Hoy quiero rescatar de la obra otro de sus temas, en esta ocasión recurriré a uno de sus temas instrumentales, "Perpetual", hiper reconocibles las manos del artísta, temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Nuevo adelanto de "Here be dragons", el décimo LP de estudio de Avantasia, que en palabras de Tobias Sammet se encuentra en su punto más enérgico, abandonado a su instinto, basicamente haciendo referencia compositiva a sus tiempos previos a Avantasia con Edguy. Canciones para una vida - Savatage - Handful Of Rain

HANDFUL  OF  RAIN

Vamos con otra banda clásica, importante por su trayectoria y por el momento en que desarrollan su carrera ya que hablamos de la década de los 80 y 90, momento en que se definen muchas cosas y en el que los estadounidenses Savatage aportaron su granito de arena hasta hacerse con un nombre internacional por méritos propios. Evidentemente hablamos de una banda que ha tocado todos los palos, desde del heavy power hasta su vertiente más progresiva, siempre desde el prisma de la calidad. En 1994, la banda editaba su octavo LP de estudio, "Handful of rain", y contribuian así a sobrellevar ese comienzo de la década de los 90 tan complicado para el heavy metal de concepción clásica, que sin ser exactamente el terreno compositivo de este grupo, si que se les puede meter en el grupo de bandas de siempre que tiraron del carro en esos momentos. Canciones para una vida - Dream Theater - Midnight Messiah

MIDNIGHT  MESSIAH

Ya llevabamos demasiado tiempo desde la publicación del anterior trabajo de estudio de los estadounidenses Dream Theater, concretamente cuatro años desde su "A view from the top of the world", y es que la banda siempre ha mostrado su virtuosismo, con mayor o menor acierto, aunque claro, eso también depende del oido que les escucha, lo que evidente es que su música no es para todos los publicos, es de ese sonido que requiere del oyente un plus de atención que no todo el mundo está dispuesto a dar, sin embargo, cuando Dream Theater te llega, te llega de verdad, y mi sensación es que están en un gran momento de su carrera, máxime a juzgar a través de sus adelantos de "Parasominia" de inminente publicación oficial (7 de febrero). Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Desert Fire

DESERT  FIRE

Vamos hacia la parte inicial de la carrera en solitario del guitarrista alemán Axel Rudi Pell, tan prolífico como predecible, tan constante como un reloj suizo, es evidente que tenía mucho que decir compositivamente en solitario tras su salida de Steeler, banda que ya dejo auténticas perlas en su discografía. Pero la carrera del guitarrista en solitario estaba a punto de comenzar, y a finales de los 80 dio el paso, siempre rodeándose de grandes músicos. En 1994 editaba su cuarto LP "Between the walls", con Jeff Scott Soto a la voz y Jorg Michael a la batería por ejemplo por citar los nombres más reconocibles lo que solo podía desembocar en una remarcable obra ya con un reconocidisimo caracter personal que nunca ha avandonado la banda - músico, a lo largo y ancho de toda su carrera. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, concretamente la instrumental "Desert Fire", donde muestra una vez más que el shred no debe ser siempre sinónimo de exceso, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Mantric Momentum - The Highest Mountain

THE  HIGHEST  MOUNTAIN

Como en tantas ocasiones ha sucedido y seguro que seguirá sucediendo, la banda Mantric Momentum es uno de esos grupos que nace como colaboración puntual de algunos músico, (y en este caso productores), quienes tras un comienzo experimental ven claro el potencial de lo que sería una dedicación a tiempo completo del proyecto. El origen noruego del mismo podría de entrada hacernos pensar en un metal oscuro, muy propio de esa escena, sin embargo astamos ante un heavy power melódico, de riffs pesados, trabajo doblado de guitarra y grandes coros. Gestados en 2011, encontramos al guitarrista Christer Haroy (Divided Multitude, Crossnail), flirteando con la composición de un tema a medias con el productor danés Jacob Hansen, tema que en 2017 dejaría de ser algo puntual para engrosar su primer single contando con importantes invitados para la ocasión en temas vocales, eso le terminaría llevando al siguiente escalón, decidir la formación seria a tiempo completo del proyecto como banda buscando a un vocalista definitivo, algo que encontraría en su primo Terji Haroy de Pyramaze. En este 2025 la banda verá como se publica su segundo LP de estudio "Alienized", para el 14 de febrero, y del que ya se van desgranando dos sencillos, ambos recomendables, como puede comprobarse en este "The highest mountain" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Overdrivers - Meet The Monsters

MEET  THE  MONSTERS

Overdrivers es una banda francesa formada en 2015 que dedica su sonido a un hard rock en no pocas ocasiones de una escuela AC/DC, que flirtea con el hard n' heavy en otros momentos, y que en su periodo de actividad hasta la fecha de esta reseña, ha editado tres LP's de estudio si incluimos "Glory or nothing", el tercero de sus dicos que verá la luz a finales de marzo de este 2025. El espiritu de la banda es claramente un guiño a todos los clichés de ese hard rock irreverente tan bien encarnado por los citados AC/DC, y presumen de llevar de gira desde el mismo momento de su formación, desde luego es un concepto de la vieja escuela que se refleja también en su sonido. DISASTER

Los suecos H.E.A.T. sacan en este 2025 su nueva obra de estudio "Welcome to the future", que será el noveno disco de su discografía que comenzase en 2008 con su disco homónimo. El grupo se encuentra en uno de sus mejores momentos, en cuanto a composición y en cuanto a reconocimiento general, y desde 2020 volvio a recuperar su cantante original Kenny Leckremo tras la salida de su sustituto Erik Gronwall (entre 2010 y 2020). Canciones para una vida - Lordi - Retropolis

 

RETROPOLIS

La banda finlandesa Lordi nos tiene acostumbrados a no pasar precisamente desapercibida, desde el comienzo de su carrera han dado los pasos necesarios para destacar, no siempre en lo estrictamente musical, hay todo un aura especial que les rodea en su imagen, y en sus decisiones, desde presentarse a eurovisión hasta editar cinco LP's en el mismo año (2022), pero ese tipo de cuestiones muchas veces dejan de lado la calidad musical, es el peligro de transformarse en una marca registrada. 19 son los LP's publicados por la banda desde 2002, si tenemos en cuenta el décimo noveno que verá la luz en este 2025 "Limited Deadition", (concretamente en marzo) y del que se vand desgranando ya algunos adelantos como este "Retropolis" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - On My Command - The Thunder King

THE  THUNDER  KING

Los australianos On My Command continuan con su carrera en este 2025 a través de su tercer LP de estudio que no hace sino redundar en el concepto iniciado por la banda desde sus inicios allá por 2018. Estamos hablando de un grupo unido a un nombre, la típica banda en que un músico se encarga de casi todo, en este caso Sean Mackay que además de componer pone voz bajo y guitarra a su propuesta que no es otra que un heavy metal clásico que hace guiños al power metal pero un tanto oscurecido, flirtenado con el doom y de una escuela mucho más americana que europea. Esta tercera obra llevará por título "Conquer" y verá la luz de forma oficial a finales del mes de marzo, y en estos días nos ha dejado su adelanto "The thunder king" del que dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.
