INTO  FANTASY

Mezclando el buen hacer de dos de las escuelas emergentes actualmente como son la griega y la polaca, Asterise da su segundo paso y el de confirmación en su carrera iniciada en 2018, un proyecto que se consolida en su marco de power metal de corte europeo, que se verá oficializado en este próximo mes de diciembre, (día 6), a través de este "Tale of a wandering soul" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus adelantos, "Into Fantasy". del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Woods Of Wonders - The Pirate Queens

THE  PIRATE  QUEENS

Mirando la actual formación de la banda mencionada en la anterior entrada del blog, los franceses Fairyland, encontre una incorporación nueva a la banda imagino que parte de la estrategia de volver a poner en marcha a la banda y con ese objetivo de intentar darle mayor continuidad, de ser más regulares, veremos, esa incorporación mencionada es la del músico y compositor holandés Gideon Ricardo, que se une al grupo en 2024, pero que ya había comenzado a publicar material propio anteriormente a través de su proyecto "Woods of wonders" desde 2021 y que en 2022 dio el fruto de su único material editado a fecha de esta reseña, "Lost", una suerte de Metal Opera, que cuenta con varios miembros de sesión interpretando cada parte correspondiente, nada nuevo ni tampoco extraordinario en una fórmula que tiempo atrás tuvo muchos exponentes pero que a la larga, más allá de Avantasia no parece la mejor manera de llegar al gran público, lo cual no implica que no haya buenos momentos para rescatar siendo más una fórmula claramente de canciones más que de obras completas en mi humilde opinión, por ejemplo en el tema "The Pirate Queens" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

A  NEW  DAWN

Estamos ante la resurrección, aún está por ver si definitiva, de una banda clásica, de esas que ha tenido dificultades para hacerse su hueco en la escena internacional lo que no implica en absoluto que ni tuviese suficientes argumentos para haberlo hecho de una forma más eficaz o global, el caso es que los franceses Fairyland vuelven a componer temas tras su regreso en 2020 después de más de una década de silencio, es parece su sello de identidad, una carrera a tirones, demasiado lastre para llegar alto en una sociedad tan saturada de estímulos y tan necesitada de ellos ya como para hacer tan largas ausencias. En este 2024 han editado dos singles, uno de ellos este "A new dawn" del que dejo un enlace a youtube, veremos si es realmente un nuevo amanecer.

Canciones para una vida - Wintersun - Storm

STORM

Cuando lo bueno se hace esperar parece que termina por justificar la dificultad por llegar a crearlo, y la calidad parece algo que va de la mano, indiscutiblemente del músico finlandés Jari Maempaa, tanto con Wintersun como anteriormente con Ensiferum. Desde la creación de "Time I" en 2012, ha pasado más de una década hasta que el guitarrista ha logrado dar forma a su sucesor de una manera que resultase satisfactoria a su alta exigencia y el resultado de "Time II" solo podía estar a la altura. Como siempre su sonido con esa mezcla de death melódico y rasgos indiscutiblemente progresivos y virtuosos queda perfectamente plasmado en la obra, como por ejemplo a través del tema "Storm", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Vanquisher - Nemedian Chronicle + The Pride Of Aquilonia

NEMEDIAN  CHRONICLE  +  THE  PRIDE  OF  AQUILONIA

Desde siempre, a nivel personal, todo aquello que huela a Robert E. Howard y sobre todo al universo Conan the barbarian, tiene un irresistible influjo sobre mí, atrayendo mi atención irremediablemente, el problema es que en no pocas ocasiones la calidad de lo que uno se encuentra no suele estar a la altura de lo que uno espera, pero en otros momentos esto no es así, descubriendo propuestas como mínimo interesantes. El tema con Vanquisher tenía pinta de ir en esta dirección, sobre todo al añadirle otros ingredientes, tales como su escuela de origen Suecia, y la propuesta épica de su sonido heavy power. Estos Vanquisher, (los suecos pues hay más propuestas con el mismo nombre), comienzan su andadura en 2014, pero no será hasta 2017 que editen su primer material en formato EP, "A demostration of power", seguido de un largo silencio compositivo que no se rompe hasta 2022 con su primer LP "An age undreamed of", editado de forma independiente. Sin ser para nada una propuesta novedosa ni tan siquiera portentosa en lo técnico, si es eficaz, y suficiente para que resulte ser otra banda más que desarrolle su carrera en la voraz escena internacional. Como digo heavy power como propuesta con ese aire épico y su propuesta Hyborea en lo lírico, como dejo en esta muestra que es el inicio de la obra con su intro y su primer tema, "Nemedian Chronicle + The pride of Aquilonia", de las que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Majestica - Power Train

POWER  TRAIN

Majestica está de vuelta para 2025 con el que será su tercer album de estudio como banda, aunque ya se sabe que la mente creadora del grupo y la música Tommy Johansson lleva ya un largo recorrido con Reinxeed y con sus versiones de canciones en Youtube, se trata de un músico que ha apostado por el sonido sinfónico, que en Majestica queda absolutamente patente y que por momentos se aleja incluso de lo que es propiamente dicho un cliché metálico, excesiva limpieza y ese ambiente que les ha llevado a ser un claro esponente de lo que se ha venido white metal, excelente nombre para remarcar lo que refleja su sonido. El disco llevará por título "Power Train" y de el nos dejan en estos días el tema que le dará nombre y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Narnia - Dangerous Game

DANGEROUS  GAME

Rescatemos el segundo album de estudio de los suecos Narnia, remontandonos por lo tanto a finales de los 90, (1998) un momento en el que el power de corte europeo vivía su mejor momento por cantidad y calidad de bandas, y una de las canteras obligatorias del momento era la sueca que, a través de Narnia, explotaba esa versión sonora del power que gustaba del sonido neoclásico, que también popularizaba en ese momento por ejemplo At Vance. Era evidente que Narnia tenía todos los requisitos para resultar ser una banda importante, desde lo compositivo hasta lo interpretativo, pasando por lo técnico con una producción de nivel. Ya su debut deslumbró a muchos y este segundo esfuerzo era una confirmación con temas como "Dangerous game" por ejemplo, del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Wind Rose - Legacy Of The Forge

 

 LEGACY  OF  THE  FORGE

Vamos con otra de las canciones que componen la sexta obra de los italianos Wind Rose, "Trollslayer" de este 2024. La banda, que ha encontrado su mina compositiva en la temática enana y el sonido con raices folk, parece que comienza un poco a vivir de las rentas, haciendo su sonido un tanto predecible, sin embargo la aparente facilidad para crear temas pegajosos compensa un poco este particular, al final esto de la música y luego vender entradas para conciertos se ve facilitado si uno es capaz de cantar los temas con rapidez, y este es el caso de esta banda. DOOMSDAY  PARTY

El noveno disco de los británicos Dragonforce es una obra que viene a confirmar e intensificar lo que es la esencia de la banda, dando el paso definitivo hacia la conquista de la escena del power moderno, sin perder para nada su esencia pero dando a sus temas un enorme filo que llegará a una gran cantidad de publico, en resumen se podría decir que si la banda te gusta esta obra te gustará más por lo intensificada que está la intención del grupo, y si no te iba su sonido desde luego con esta obra no cambiará tu opinión. Canciones para una vida - Magic Kingdom - Blaze Of Storming Rage

BLAZE  OF  STORMING  RAGE

Tiene mucho mérito crear una banda de primer nivel y mantenerla viva en el tiempo, más en los tiempos que corren con la enrome oferta de grupos que saturan la escena internacional, y es por ello que bandas como Magic Kingdom pueden tener un mayor mérito al tratarse de un grupo creado por un músico como Dushan Petrossi que encabeza también al grupo Iron Mask, dos proyectos similares en importancia, trayectoria y en ocasiones sonido, dos grupos que el músico alimenta cada poco tiempo, manteniendo como un padre a los dos vástagos de forma casi equitativa. 2024 será el turno de Magic Kingdom, que verá como se publica su sexto LP de estudio "Blaze of rage" (13 de diciembre), y de la que en estos días se publica su adelanto "Blaze of storming rage" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Def Leppard - Ride Into The Sun

RIDE  INTO  THE  SUN

Mucho ha cambiado la banda británica Def Leppard desde sus primeros días a los últimos, de poder englobarseles en la NWOBHM al rechazo de la banda por cualquier etiqueta metálica, su carrera ha estado llena de éxitos comerciales que les han ido dando además de dinero fama planetaria a pesar de que su discografía, mirada friamente solo conste de 12 LP's de estudio, ("solo" teniendo en cuenta que comenzaron en 1979), y hoy quiero pararme de nuevo en su mismo comienzo, en su primer EP "The Def Leppard" EP, de 1979, donde ya mostraban hacia donde iban a encaminar sus pasos como por ejemplo a través del tema "Ride into the sun" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube. Les guste o no ellos también pusieron su granito de arena en esto del heavy metal.

Destinados ya a encabezar cualquier festival o gira, los alemanes Powerwolf dejan en este 2024 su décimo LP de estudio en una carrera que no para de ascender, y es que dos décadas haciendo bien las cosas tienen este tipo de consecuencias, así, "Wake up the wicked" está de nuevo llena de himnos, temas de esos que se meten en tu cabeza y recreas continuamente, y algunas canciones que están destinadas a permanecer en sus setlists en vivo en adelante como es el caso de este "Sinners of the seven seas" del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Uriah Heep - Woman Of The Night

 

WOMAN  OF  THE  NIGHT

Claramente los británicos Uriah Heep fueron una enorme influencia en las bandas ochenteras gracias al trabajo impresionante realizado en la década de los setenta sobre todo, y su influjo, a pesar de que en los ochenta decayese su popularidad, se ha extendido a lo largo del tiempo y de las bandas siendo muchos los grupos de nuestro sonido los que han homenajeado muchas de sus canciones clásicas haciendolas propias y en no pocos casos fundamentales en sus propias discografías. En 1978 Uriah Heep editaba su décimo segundo album de estudio "Fallen Angel", aún en plena efervescencia de popularidad, y de dicha obra quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Woman of the night", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  TYRANT  DIES  AT  DAWN

Tras siete años de silencio compositivo, en este 2024 han regresado a los estudios los suecos Drean Evil para dejarnos el disco "Metal Gods" así como la esperanza de la continuidad del grupo que a juzgar por la nueva obra está en plena forma, siempre es una buena noticia ver como las buenas bandas regresan de una muerte anunciada en plena forma, cerrando bocas e iluminando su futuro y el de sus fans, que en este caso en concreto legaron a ser muchos por razones evidentes. De la nueva obra quiero dejar en el blog hoy otro de sus temas, "The tyrant dies at dawn" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Warlord - Warlord

WARLORD

Siempre se puede uno encontrar, rebuscando en la sorprendente escena setentera, piezas raras para ayudar a completar el puzzle de la historia de nuestro sonido, a través de bandas olvidadas que muchas veces sin ir más allá de un horizonte "Demo" que uno desearía poder disfrutar con mayor calidad de sonido, si que son muestras valiosas de la profundidad en las convicciones compositivas, de como la mayoría de conceptos ya estaban inventadas o al menos investigadas mucho antes de lo que solemos pensar, así, encontrar bandas como Warlord, (británicos), que lo intentaron en la citada década de los setenta, sin parir nada más allá del puñado de canciones que forman su demo "Warlord" de 1975, donde muestran claramente de por donde irían las composiciones futuras que se englobarían como heavy metal, unos pioneros más perdidos en el anonimato y el tiempo. De esa demo dejo el tema que lo dió nombre y de paso a la banda, "Warlord" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.
