Se acerca el momento para la publicación de la nueva obra de estudio de los suecos Eclipse, "Megalomanium II", concretamente para el 20 de septiembre. En lo referente al sonido de la obra no creo que nadie se sorprenda ya que tienen su seña de identidad absolutamente marcada y a juzgar por los adelantos habrá continuidad, como puede apreciarse por ejemplo a traves del tema "Still my hero" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Veonity - The Fifth Element

THE  FIFTH  ELEMENT

Los suecos Veonity son una de esas bandas que casi imperceptiblemente irrumpieron, "a lo suyo" en el panorama internacional (2013), y que poco a poco han ido mostrando calidad y buen hacer hasta conformar ya una respetable discografía de seis LP's de estudio si incluimos  "The Fifth element" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 18 de octubre. Power metal de corte europeo, escuela sueca, sinónimo de producción cuidada y en general acierto compositivo a lo largo de toda su carrera. Canciones para una vida - Dust - Pull Away / So Many Times

PULL  AWAY / SO  MANY  TIMES

Vuelta a los inicios de nuestro sonido, por lo tanto de vuelta a la década de los setenta para desempolvar a los estadounidenses Dust, una banda de esas que duraron muy poco en activo, (1969 - 1972), dejando tan solo un par de albumes de estudio como legado material, sin embargo, es innegable que tuvieron que tener su propio porcentaje de peso especifico a la hora de influir a otras bandas hasta que el heavy metal como tal naciese. Hablamos también de músicos de cierto peso específico, así, por ejemplo Marc Bell sería posteriromente el batería de Los Ramones, Kenny Aronson terminaría recalando en Blue Oyster Cult. Canciones para una vida - Lust - We'll Never Die

WE'LL  NEVER  DIE

Otro grupo más de los que tuvieron una carrera corta, en la década de los 80, en ese momento en que muchos grupos optaron por una opción tardía en lo que se refiere a las tendencias evolutivas sonoras, si en ese momento de finales de los ochenta escogías el heavy metal de corte clásico como espejo en el que mirarte, tenías muchas papeletas de estinguirte antes de casi intentarlo, caso de estos franceses, "Lust", y como tantas otras veces es una lástima, por el potencial, por la calidad, por el sonido clásico en si mismo. Formados en 1985 y separados en 1991 propone la banda solo un LP de estudio en 1987, "We'll never die", pero con el citado potencial reflejado por ejemplo en el tema que daba nombre a la obra, del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Ancient Curse - Forevermore

FOREVERMORE

Los alemanes Ancient Curse son otro caso de esos en que su actividad inicial, bajo otro nombre, (Bonebreaker) allá por la mitad de la década de los 80 (85-87) paso tan inadvertida que intentan cambiar de nombre en un nuevo comienzo. Así pasan a llamarse Ancient Curse en 1987 aunque no editan nada hasta 1996 en que editan su primer material en formato EP.  curiosamente un año después, en 1997 sacan dos LP's en el mismo año para después tomarse un larguísimo paréntesis compositivo hasta 2020 en que editan el tercero de sus LP's. En este 2024 se editará su cuarto LP de estudio (Octubre), para dar continuidad a su irregular carrera. Hablamos de un sonido que bebe del heavy metal, del power y enmarcado en un aire progresivo, interesante mezcla. Canciones para una vida - Vision Divine - The Broken Past

THE  BROKEN  PAST

Siempre rodeados por ese aura de gran banda, los italianos Vision Divine han tenido una carrera un tanto irregular, siempre demostrando los citados destellos de grandeza desde que Olaf Thorsen formase la banda a finales de los 90 como proyecto paralelo a Labyrinth, y, compartiendo con dicha banda muchos rasgos terminaría por consolidarse como banda como tal a medida que iban editando discos. En total han editado nueve LP's de estudio con un largo parón entre 2012 y 2019, para editar su novena obra en 2024 tras otro lustro en silencio desde su anterior trabajo. Aire progresivo, virtuoso por momentos, fondo power, todo parece inalterado en su esquema compositivo. El citado noveno disco, "Blood and ange's tears" verá la luz de forma oficial en septiembre y de momento van dejando alguna muestra como la canción "The broken past" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Furor Gallico - Call Of The Wind

CALL OF  THE  WIND

Otra banda más de las que llevaban ya un largo tiempo en silencio desde su última obra, por encima de un lustro, son los italianos Furor Gallico, dueños de ese sonido que bordea desde el death melçodico al folk metal. "Future to come" ha sido su cuarto LP de estudio publicado en este pasado mes de marzo, desde que se formaran en 2007. El que conozca su obra verá reflejados en ella todos los elementos que dan identidad al grupo. De dicho disco dejo hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, "Call of the wind", un tema más accesible de lo que en general nos tienen acostumbrados y del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

BLUT  UND  SAND

Los germanos Asenblut publican en este 2024 su quinto album de estudio "Entfesselt", demostrando su tirón a pesar del hándicap que puede resultar tener una carrera cantada en alemán, a ojos del gran público en general, en lugar de hacerlo en el internacional inglés, sea como sea, ellos siguen a lo suyo, muy asentados ya en su sonido dificil de encasillar en una sola etiqueta, pero altamente efectivo. Canciones para una vida - The Waymaker - Kingdom Of Heaven

KINGDOM  OF  HEAVEN

Otra de las bandas que el cantante sueco Christian Rivel, de Narnia, ha ido creando a lo largo de los años y de su carrera musical que no termina siendo sino una versión más de su sonido con su banda madre Narnia, lo cual no deja de ser algo a tener en cuenta. En esta ocasión se une sus fuerzas con la pareja (matrimonio) Jani y Katja Stefanovic, finlandeses, que han compartido proyectos antes en común, sobre todo Jani, y que en 2019 se embarcan en este The Waymaker. 2020 ha sido testigo del único fruto compositivo en formato LP que ha dado esta unión a tres bandas, el disco "The Waymaker" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, "Kingdom of heaven", a juzgar ya solo por el título una vez más se deduce que la temática es cristiana, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Grand Magus - Skybound

 

SKYBOUND

Todo un lustro ha pasado ya desde que los suecos Grand Magus sacase su anterior LP de estudio "Wolf god" allá por 2019. La nueva obra "Sunraven" verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 18 de octubre y supondrá la décima obra de estudio de la banda con su heavy doom oscuro por estandarte desde sus inicios coincidiendo con el inicio del siglo. De momento el grupo nos deja su primer adelanto, "Skybound" que muestra que su sendero discurre inalterado en lo que se refiere a su propuesta compositiva, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Calypsian - The Way Of The Warrior

THE  WAY  OF  THE  WARRIOR

Los franceses Calypsian son una nueva banda de las que se han sumado al sonido power para intentar desarrollar una carrera, aún incipiente, ya que a pesar de contar como banda en activo desde 2016 en este 2024 han editado su debut "Frozen Firestorm". El concepto compositivo responde al euro power, melódico, no carente de velocidad, con sus coros, la temática fantástica, etc, nada nuevo en el horizonte además de la ilusión de los inicios y el potencial si escogen bien sus pasos futuros. Canciones para una vida - Triumpher - Arrival Of The Avenger

 

ARRIVAL  OF  THE  AVENGER

Ya en su debut del pasado 2023 me pareció muy interesante la propuesta de esta banda griega "Triumpher", con su propuesta heavy power contundente, derrochante de energía, con un cierto aire oscuro, a la par que épico true en ocasiones. Su continuación, "Spirit invictus", se espera para este próximo mes de octubre y de ella dejan su primer adelanto "Arrival of the avenger", inevitablemente con un aire manowaresco, que promete que la banda no haya sido flor de un día, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Force 3 - Warrior Of Light

WARRIOR  OF  LIGHT

Nueva inmersión en el océano de bandas desconocidas, muchas de ellas mono disco, que pulularon en la escena internacional sin llegar a asomar en la superficie, en este caso volvemos a la escena británica a través de la banda "Force 3", activa puntualmente en la parte final de los 80, con un único LP editado en 1988 titulado "Warrior of light". Sonido heavy metal, con un aire clásico y épico al mismo tiempo y de temática cristiana, con innegable potencial, una más que con otras circunstancias podría haber mantenido una carrera larga y aceptada, la historia de tantos y tantos otros. Canciones para una vida - Brothers Of Metal - Nanna's Fate

NANNA'S  FATE

El tercer trabajo de los suecos se ha hecho de rogar más de lo que previamente lo había hecho el segundo de ellos respecto del primero, pero parece ya imparable a través de su promoción la irrupción de "Fimbulvinter" cuya salida oficial esperamos para el primero de noviembre de este 2024. Igualmente los adelantos no van mostrando exactamente el sonido esperable de los discos anteriores, primero a través de su tema "heavy metal viking" que mostró un ramalazo modernete quizá demasiado acusado, y este "Nanna's fate" que se mueve en los terrenos del medio tiempo donde no se desata la velocidad al 100%, lo que da una cierta incertidumbre del resultado total final de la nueva obra, por otra parte la impoluta trayectoria de la banda hasta el momento es al final suficiente garantía para dar el beneficio de la duda en este sentido. Canciones para una vida - Wisdom Call - Power From The Sky

POWER  FROM  THE  SKY

El inicio de la carrera musical de Narnia, la banda sueca liderada por Christian Rivel, tuvo desde el inicio sobre sí puesto el foco ante la propuesta compositiva con ese aire neoclásico, sobre todo en su parte inicial de tres discos, quizá, ante esa acogida, el músico desde muy temprano se dedicó también a diversificar su esfuerzo compositivo en otra serie de bandas que al final, no eran, ni siguen siendo, una versión bastante clónica de su propuesta con Narnia, desde la temática cristiana hasta el sonido heavy melódico, y siempre mostrando la pulcritud productiva tan propia de los suecos, y de Narnia en particular. Por lo tanto, "Wisdom Call" es "solo" una de esas propuestas alternativas de Narnia, en este caso con un solo disco editado en 2001, "Wisdom Call", del que hoy dejaré en el blog uno de sus temas, "Power form the sky", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
