THE  UNHOLY  GRAIL

Que magnifica decisión la de los germanos Feuerschwanz de dar un giro digamos más serio, más potente y metálico a su carrera, pues en los últimos años, sobre todo desde 2020, han ido en un imparable crecimiento, conquistando territorio nuevo a cada obra, y es que su calidad y esa mezcla personal de ingredientes logran que las hordas metálicas se rindan a sus encantos compositivos. En estos días estamos ante los primeros destellos de los que será un nuevo album publicado por la banda, en una demostración más del exito que van cosechando que les ha hecho plantearse la publicación de este album llamemoslo especial ya que aunque cuenta con un par de temas nuevos, su principal característica es contar con versiones propias en inglés, un paso más hacia la conquista planetaria, para ello cuentan además con colaboraciones especiales como en uno de esos temas nuevos "The Unholy Grail" donde Orden Ogan pone su granito de arena, temazo del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Barren Cross - Believe

 

BELIEVE

Los estadounidenses Barren Cross fueron uno de los exponentes del llamado white metal o metal cristiano, y fueron de los que desarrollaron temprano su carrera, desde comienzos de los 80. Se forman en 1983 y en 1985 editaban su primer material de estudio en forma de su EP "Believe". Realmente solo terminaron editando cuatro LP's de estudio a lo largo de su carrera aunque en alguno de sus momentos llegaron a acariciar el éxito en cierta medida. Desde 1994 hasta la actualidad en que en teoría siguen en activo no han editado nada más allá de algún recopilatorio. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas que componen su material debut, el EP Believe del que dejo hoy el tema que lo da nombre y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

BLOOD  PRESSURE

Escena germana, años ochenta, otra banda más que lo intentaba, en este caso bajo el nombre de Aorta, que curiosamente ha sido un nombre escogido por varias bandas para desarrollar una carrera o al menos intentarlo. En el caso de estos Aorta hablamos de un hard 'n heavy muy ochentero, una vez más hablamos de un grupo que solo editó un único LP de estudio, absolutamente digno de mención, muy prometedor de una hipotética larga y digna carrera que nunca se dio, y en este caso editaron un total de doce canciones de entre las que dejo el tema que da nombre a la obra de 1983 "Blood Pressure" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Sidequest - Fantasy

 

FANTASY

Desde Bélgica llega esta banda "Sidequest" un grupo de reciente formación que ha escogido el sendero del power metal pegajoso, melódico, de ese que deja claro que buscan la senda que tantas bandas de los 2000 recorrieron, un grupo que recuerda por ejemplo a Galderia. Como digo formados en 2020 han editado de momento, a fecha de esta reseña, un LP y un EP, y de este mencionado EP, "Sanctuary of Miscreants" de 2023 quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, "Fantasy", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Deceiver - Children Of The Storm

CHILDREN  OF  THE  STORM

Otro repaso histórico para rescatar del olvido a otra banda anónima para casi todo el mundo pero un ejemplo más de lo que podría haber sido una carrera mucho más importante de haberse dado las circunstancias. Comienzos de los 90, escena alemana, y quizá esto en si mismo nos de una de las claves del por que del no despegue de este grupo en concreto, "Deceiver", (Uno de los muchos que intentaron desarrollar su carrera con este nombre). Como digo la clave puede estar en el tipo de sonido y la época en que lo crean, comienzos de los 90, quizá ese concepto tan ochentero llegaba un poco tarde, y además en esos momento la escena germana apuntaba hacia otros objetivos ,mucho más power, cosa que terminaría explotando algo más tarde. El caso es que Deceiver edito su único LP "Tales of time" en 1991, y de él quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, "Children of the storm" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

TRISKAIDEKA

Cuando uno escucha los grandes nombres y sus reuniones - reactivaciones, no puede por menos que prestar atención, las grandes bandas han llegado a tener una fama por algún motivo, y los estadounidenses Crimson Glory han alcanzado para muchos el nivel de banda mítica, bien es cierto que en gran parte gracias al desaparecido cantante Midnight, sin embargo la trayectoria del grupo, incluso después de Midnight ha sido al menos remarcable, así pues, con su heavy power de corte progresivo en el pasado 2023 anunciaban su reunión, con nuevo guitarrista y cantante tras diez años de silencio y el primer fruto en forma de single ha sido "Triskaideka" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Final Dawn - Need Some Action

NEED  SOME  ACTION

Es estupendo meterse en los entresijos de la escena internacional ochentera, no para uno de encontrar bandas anónimas, de esas que apenas parieron material pero que si que mostraron un potencial que, de haberse dado las condiciones necesarias podrían haber llegado a desarrollar una carrera estandar con quien sabe que resultado. En esas estamos con estos estadounidenses, "Final Dawn", quienes en 1987 publicaban su único material en forma de single "The Quake has come" con dos temas. Estamos hablando de un heavy metal bien clásico, bastante propio de esa época, que parecía llegar con un poco de retraso en 1987 donde ese sonido evolucionaba hacia otras cosas, pero hoy quiero rescatar uno de los dos temas en el blog, "Need some action" del que dejo un enlace a youtube, un nuevo homenaje a todos esos que se quedaron en el camino.

 Dos palabras para definir la historia de esta banda estadounidense, Overlorde, calma y perseverancia, la primera por el enfoque que la banda ha dado a su carrera en lo que se refiere a publicar material, un EP y dos LP's desde 1985 hasta la actualidad, la segunda por su capacidad de reiniciar sus épocas e intentarlo de nuevo. entre 1985 y 1988 fruto el EP "Overlorde", de 2000 a 2010 con el fruto del LP "Return of the snow giant", y desde 2016 hasta ahora con el fruto del segundo LP "Awaken the fury" en 2023, y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema que le da nombre. Canciones para una vida - Flame - No Road To Heaven

 

 

NO  ROAD  TO  HEAVEN 

Otra banda de las que apenas pasaron de puntillas por la escena internacional, hablamos de la década de los 80 una vez más, en este caso de la escena sueca, y "Flame" que así se llamaba el grupo, dibujó un posible inicio de carrera que se quedó solo en eso, ya que editaron solo un single con un par de canciones, en 1982, "No road to heaven/Lonewolf song". Este, como otros muchos casos hablan de una excelente escena en esos años iniciales, y de las dificultades que las bandas tenían para asomarse al mercado internacional, más allá de la calidad o el potencial de crecimiento que demostrasen, como era el caso de estos suecos, de los que dejo la canción "No road to heaven" con ese innegable tufillo ochentero y ese sonido a medio camino del heavy melódico y el hard rock, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Vamos con uno de los mejores momentos compositivos del guitarrista sueco Yngwie Malmsteen, se trata de "Odyssey" de 1988, heredero este disco del para mí insuperable "Trilogy" que muestra esa época magistral del genial músico que siempre supo rodearse muy bien por otros que le hicieran brillar aún más si cabe, en esta ocasión, para su "Odyssey" nada menos que Joe Lynn Turner a la voz, Jens Johansson a los teclados, Andres Johansson a la bateria y Bob Daisley al bajo. TEN  THOUSAND  WAYS  TO  DIE

Vamos hoy con un poquito de death metal, de una de esas bandas que en lo suyo se antoja fundamental, unos de los de la vieja guardia en el género, formados en 1988 bajo este nombre de Obituary, ya llevaban estos estadounidenses una cierta trayectoria para entonces a sus espaldas bajo los nombres de Executioner primero y Xecutioner despues, (entre 1984 y 1988). El caso es que estamos ante unos músicos experimentados, reputados, convencidos de lo que hacen y es que su estilo no ha cambiado practicamente desde sus comienzos. Hoy quiero ilustrar esto último con una de sus últimas obras editadas a fecha de esta reseña, el disco homónimo al nombre de la banda, de 2017, que supone su décimo album de estudio y de momento penúltimo, y de él dejo en el blog el tema "Ten thousand ways to die" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

CHALLENGE  THE  WIND

La carrera de los italianos Rhapsody of Fire sigue viento en popa y con el anuncio de su nuevo disco de estudio, "Challenge The Wind" para mayo, el que supondrá ya su décimo quinto LP de estudio, y asentandose sin generar ninguna duda en su época post Lione-Turilli, los de Staropolli, adentrados en su saga Nephilim Empire, editan su nuevo trabajo con el apoyo de AFM y el de Seeb Levermann en la producción, un añadido más. Según Staropolli estamos ante la obra de Rhapsody más metálica, sin respiros para temas lentos pero con todos los ingredientes propios de la banda.
