CASTLES  IN  THE  SKIES

Los alemanes Starchild, pues hay varias bandas que han escogido este nombre para desarrollar su carrera musical, son una de esas bandas aún no demasiado reconocidas pero que llevan ya algún tiempo haciéndolo muy bien, concretamente se forman en 2012 y desde 2014 han estado editando música, con un total de cuatro LP's en estos ya más de diez años de existencia. Sonido power de corte europeo, con una ligera reminiscencia a la escuela sueca, siempre europower, e igualmente deberías darles una oportunidad si aún no lo habías hecho, y una buena oportunidad para ello es su último trabajo "Magic Well" del aún presente 2023, por ejemplo a través del enganchón "Castles in the skies", del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - The Grandmaster - While The Sun Goes Down

WHILE  THE  SUN  GOES  DOWN

The Grandmaster es un proyecto musical en el que está involucrado el guitarrista germano Jens Ludwig, que forma o formó, (no sabría como calificar el estado de Edguy) parte de Edguy, y que ya en 2021 editó un primer disco bajo ese nombre. En el incipiente 2024, concretamente el 12 de enero, verá la luz su continuación en forma de su segundo LP "Black Sun", para el que ha habido algún cambio en la banda, así el cantante brasileño Nando Fernandes deja la banda y es sustituido por Peer Johansson, músico danés que puso voz a muchos disco por ejemplo de Fate. Se trata de un versátil músico con un registro un tanto Jorn, que pega a la perfección en este sonido un tanto "Masterplanico" que ofrece "Grandmaster". Canciones para una vida - Scarelight - Scream Out Loud

SCREAM  OUT  LOUD

Nuevo proyecto - banda, que despierta al mundo en este 2023 del que quedan ya solo horas, nuevamente desde la actualmente deslumbrante escena griega, "Scarelight" muestra un power de corte europeo que dará que hablar. Estamos ante un proyecto que ha promovido el ex vocalista de Emerald Sun, y de hecho esta canción pertenece al primer album de esa banda "The story begins" de 2005, este es el único motivo para mirar aún con precaución lo que esté por venir, sin embargo ese sabor clásico del tema con reminiscencias a bandas como Helloween hace que resulte absolutamente familiar desde las primeras escuchas. Canciones para una vida - Autumn's Child - A Strike Of Lightning

A  STRIKE  OF  LIGHTNING

Parece que 2023 ha sido también el año para el asentamiento y consolidación definitiva de la banda sueca Autumn's Child, un grupo-proyecto musical que ha reunido a varios miembros de otras bandas bajo un proyecto común, centrando su sonido en un hard rock - heavy melódico, cuya seña de identidad en lo compositivo es la calidad en la producción y un despilfarro melódico.  Aquí encontramos a Mikael Erdlansson al frente quien tras dejar su anterior proyecto en suspensión, (Last autumn's Dream), se junto con gente de H.E.A.T., Eclipse, y otras bandas para crear Autumn's Child, y han cogido carrerilla pues desde 2019 en que se forman, van casi a disco por año, siendo este "Tellus Timeline" el quinto de su discografía que saldrá a la venta de forma oficial el próximo en inminente 19 de enero de 2024. Canciones para una vida - Burning sun - Golden Wings

 

 GOLDEN  WINGS

Nueva banda una vez más, en este caso procedentes de Hungría, "Burning Sun", formados en 2022 y que en este agonizante ya 2023 han editado su primer LP de estudio "Wake of ashes". Indiscutiblemente no han inventado nada nuevo, se centran en un europower un tanto acelerado por momentos, un poco "helloweenesco", de hecho reconocen haber tomado el nombre de la banda de la canción del grupo del magnifico disco "Straight out of hell" de 2013, por lo que se podría tomar como una declaración de intenciones. Ya desde el inicio, esta gran banda británica demostraba a todo aquel que le quisiera escuchar que tenían pegada. gancho e ilusión para desarrollar una larga carrera, pero desde luego se han convertido en una de las más prolíficas bandas en lo que a discos editados se refiere, y contando camino ya de la quinta década en activo. 1980 fue el año en que la banda lanzó su segundo y tercer albumes de estudio, el segundo "Wheels of steel" es hoy mi foco de atención para dejar en el blog otro de sus temas clásicos, "747 (strangers in the night)", del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Jaeger - The Wild Hunt

THE  WILD  HUNT 

Otra banda incipiente, de esas que apenas han comenzado a dar sus primeros pasos, son los estadounidenses Jaeger, un grupo que ha editado tan solo un par de temas en formato digital y del que apenas hay datos, pero propietarios de un interesantisimo sonido que promete dar que hablar. En su "Bandcamp" puede leerse la definición propia de su sonido, "metal europeo desde ningún lugar cercano a Europa", toda una declaración de intenciones. Con un ligero componente progresivo, y un leve componente death melódico, el sonido promete y mucho, y en sus dos singles desde luego que ya cumple.  THE  NORTHERN  STAR

Los finlandeses Frozen Land han escogido este 2023 como año de asentamiento de su propuesta compositiva a través de su segundo LP de estudio "Out of the dark", propietarios de un sonido muy hijo de su cantera en el apartado power, es evidente que han "mamado" de los Stratovarius Sonata Arctica y otras bandas afines. Se nota además un "afilamiento" progresivo de sus canciones, es indudable que la banda sigue un sendero ascendente con el qe veremos hasta donde llegan. Canciones para una vida - Battle Born - Dragonheart

DRAGONHEART 

Ya nos dejaron estos ingleses, Battle Born una buena sensación con su EP debut en 2020, y este 2023 ha sido el año en que han confirmado las sospechas con su primer larga duración titulado "Blood fire magic and steel". Hablamos de power metal, con una cierta base electrónica, un enfoque a medio camino entre lo clásico y lo moderno, desde luego siempre le viene a uno a la cabeza que se han mirado en el espejo de lo hecho por bandas tipo gloryhammer o beast in black por ejemplo. Basando su temática en la serie de videojuegos "The elder scrolls" prometen al menos en ese sentido tener material para largo y musicalmente, como digo, tienen mimbres suficientes para desarrollar una carrera destacable. Canciones para una vida - Frozen crown - Legion

 

LEGION

Como ya hemos comentado, los italianos Frozen crown son una de esas bandas que han sabido sobreponerse a una salida de integrantes casi en masa, para no solo continuar adelante sino además saber seguir creciendo en su historia personal para asentarse en este "Call of the north", su cuarto LP de estudio, de este 2023, ya con nueva formación. De hecho solo guitarrista y cantante permanecen desde que comenzasen en 2017, realmente son una banda bastante nueva aún pero los ecos de sus obras han llegado ya bastante lejos, gracias a su buen hacer como en el tema "legion" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Imperial Child - Red Red Sea

 

RED  RED  SEA

Desde tierras nórdicas, desde Noruega, nos llega el sonido de la banda Imperial Child, grupo una vez más de reciente formación, (desde 2018), que ha escogido el concepto heavy con tintes progresivos para desarrollar su carrera aún incipiente pero que ya ha dado fruto en forma de LP en dos ocasiones, la segunda de ellas en este 2023 con el título "Secrets of the roman ghosts" que vio la luz hace unas semanas. El sonido del grupo está alejado del concepto previo un tanto oscuro que se presupone a las banda noruegas, y es más un heavy power de corte europeo pero con ese trasfondo progresivo, momentos de riffs repetitivos y machacones un poco americanos, en definitiva una mezcla de elementos que puede dar a la banda una identidad reconocible y les augura un importante futuro si siguen haciendo las cosas bien. Canciones para una vida - Thorium - Nightfall

 

NIGHTFALL

En 2016 se forma la banda belga Thorium, propietaria de un sonido a medio camino del heavy metal y el power, con rasgos europeos en la composición y que desde su formación, y a fecha de esta reseña, han editado tres LP's de estudio a los que añadir un EP. Tanto su EP como su último larga duración se han editado en 2023, y el título de su ultimo trabajo es "Extraordinary Journeys Pt. I" viendo la luz de forma oficial a mediados del pasado noviembre. Parece ir consolidándose esta banda de gran gusto compositivo, casi un poco "sueco" si se quiere, con un ligerísimo toque progresivo y de este último trabajo quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de sus canciones en concreto "Nightfall" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Final Strike - Freedom

 

FREEDOM

La maquinaria sueca sigue generando bandas, proyectos, re mezclas de músicos que se unen creando nuevas aventuras compositivas en las que enrolarse, y en general, la mayoría atesoran esa elegante forma de hacer música de la pulcra y eficaz escena sueca. En esta ocasión se trata de la banda de reciente formación "Final Strike", que en este 2023 editan su debut con la reconocible voz de Christian Eriksson (Ex de Twilight force o Northtale entre otros) como carta de presentación. Facturando un lustroso y europeo power metal, llegan de manera fácil prometiendo seguir en el futuro con esta propuesta sencilla de digerir, y por lo tanto efectiva. Canciones para una vida - Fortnox - Storm Inside My Head

STORM  INSIDE  MY  HEAD

Vamos hoy con una banda de esas fugaces, ochenteras, mono disco, en ese lugar compositivo a medio camino entre el hard rock y el heavy metal, muy a comienzos de la mágica década ya que su única obra de estudio, "Fortnox" que lleva por título el nombre de la banda, se edita en 1982. Su escuela la estadounidense, y el nombre tras la banda es el del guitarrista Rick Fowler, quien se enrolase también en otros proyectos cayendo hasta el blues. Sin duda uno de sus momentos mejores a nivel de reconocimiento lo cosechasen a través de la canción "Storm inside my head" perteneciente a esta obra, canción de la que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Flames Of Fire - Our Blessed Hope

OUR  BLESSED  HOPE

Nueva banda salida de la impresionante siempre cantera sueca, "Flames of fire", formada en 2021, que gustan del heavy metal clásico y al mismo tiempo además de melódico con ese innegable regusto a su origen, y que como no es raro en dicha escena, busca la inspiración en su fe cristiana para las letras de sus canciones. Con tales premisas, le viene a uno inevitablemente el nombre de Narnia a la cabeza, y no va desencaminada la idea. Desde ese 2021 han editado ya dos LP's de estudio, así que han empezado con ganas. El segundo de ellos lo han editado este 2023, el primero de este mes, y de él quiero hoy dejar en el blog la canción "Our blessed hope", que da nombre a la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube Habrá que seguir la pista a esta prometedora y buena banda.
