Canciones para una vida - Saxon - Hell Fire And Damnation

 

HELL , FIRE  AND  DAMNATION

Incombustibles, una de las bandas que deberían ser reconocidad por todos como uno de los pilares del heavy metal, que, sin descanso de épocas, atravesando momentos compositivos diferentes pero siempre con su propia identidad, han y siguen completando una carrera con ya 27 LP's de estudio (contando este "Hell Fire and damnation" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 19 de enero del inminente 2024), solo por esas cifras merecen el respeto y más si a los números les acompaña la caidad, y la honestidad de seguir su propia senda. En estos día la banda nos deja el primer adelanto de la nueva obra, la canción que la da nombre y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, "Saxon", ni más ni menos.

ETERNAL  PARADISE 

Claramente los franceses Galderia siguen la senda musical de ese power "happy" que por ejemplo bandas como Freedom Call han adoptado como santo y seña para desarrollar su carrera, siempre power, de corte europeo, lustroso, pegajoso, facilón, del que tarareas enseguida. La carrera del grupo ya se extiende por más de una década, formados en 2006, y con tres LP's de estudio a los que añadir dos EP's. El último de sus discos, a fecha de esta reseña, "Endless Horizon" de 2022, en estos días se cumple un año de su publicación, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de sus temas, "Eternal Paradise" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Ring Of Fire - Gravity

 

GRAVITY

Los alemanes "Ring of fire" siguen su camino de ya largo recorrido, (se forman en 2000), a pesar de que su discografía cuenta tan solo con cinco LP's de estudio en este largo periodo de 23 años. Es cierto que la banda tuvo un parón al menos compositivo de una década para retomar la actividad en ese sentido en 2014, pero en líneas generales siempre se han tomado su tiempo, (mucho) entre obra y obra. 2022 fue la fecha de su último trabajo, "Gravity", disco para el que hay una profunda renovación en los componentes de la banda, (que no en el concepto de la misma), ya que siguen con su toque progresivo y una mezcla entre el heavy y el power. Magnífico ejemplo de como rememorar el espiritu ochentero con los medios actuales, el que practican los suecos "Air Raid" cuyo sonido podríamos etiquetar como un hard 'n heavy melódico, lleno de guiños a la citada década. Se forman en 2009, desde entonces, y a fecha de esta reseña, cuatro son los LP's de estudio que forman su discografía, el cuarto de ellos del presente 2023, "Fatal encounter", del que quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, "Edge of a dream" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Rigorious - Lost

 

LOST

Otra banda que va dando los primeros pasos en su carrera son los germanos Rigorious, quienes se formaron en 2021 y que en este 2023 editan su primer LP "Night of retribution", tras su debut presentación de 2022 en formato EP "Iron Wings/Power of my sword" cuyas versiones digamos normales están incluidas también en el debut en formato LP de este 2023. El sonido se enmarca en un power de corte europeo, con el apoyo a la hora de grabar la obra de Chris Boltendahl de Grave Digger, un buen padrino para esto del heavy metal. TO  VICTORY

Los suizos "Morgarten" son un grupo de folk metal en su vertiente oscura, black death melódico con el ingrediente épico, de ese que se refleja por ejemplo a través de coros y melodías. Son así mismo uno de esos grupos que han decidido tomarse su carrera con parsimonia, demasiada, ya que desde su formación en 2005 solo dos LP's conforman su discografía, el último de ellos de 2021, y el primero de 2015. desde luego han pasado bastante desapercibidos, pero si  tienen el suficiente interés como para dedicarles algo de tiempo para investigar sus obras, y de la segunda de ellas, "Cry of the lost" quiero hoy dejar uno de sus temas en el blog, "To Victory" con la que la abren, con los citados coros, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

CHILDREN  OF  THE  NIGHT

De vuelta a esos magníficos años para el heavy metal que fueron la década de los ochenta, particularmente la primera mitad, dejo hoy en el blog a otra banda que cumple perfectamente con toda esa serie de premisas que la hacen pertenecer por derecho propio al citado club, el sonido por supuesto, con ese aire de la vieja escuela, lo breve de su carrera, en este caso de los franceses "Steel Angel" entre 1983 y 1987, dandoles tiempo a editar dos LP's de estudio, en 1985 el debut y un año después este "Kiss of steel" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, concretamente "Children of the night" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Frozen Crown - Until The end

 

UNTIL  THE  END

Otro grupo que está en pleno proceso de asentamiento, de confirmación total de un planteamiento son los italianos "Frozen Crown", sobre todo tras una profunda remodelación en la formación que sucedió en 2021, que hizo pensar que la banda aún de crota trayectoria pudiera resentirse definitivamente pero que ha sabido rehacerse con total eficacia. En realidad si nos fijamos en la trayectoria del grupo vemos que son aún una joven banda formada en 2017, pero que han editado cuatro LP's de estudio a buen ritmo a pesar del citado contratiempo, y que han sabido destacar con su power de corte europeo, con rasgos modernos, y un tanto épicos en el oncepto clásico, dandose ese espacio necesario para mantener la atención del gran público. Canciones para una vida - Morifade - Possession Of Power & Ancient Prophecy

 

POSSESSION  OF  POWER  &  ANCIENT  PROPHECY

A finales de los 90 y principios de los 2000, en ese momento tan bueno para la propuesta épico fantástica euro power metalera, se estilaba mucho la utilización de elementos digamos ornamentales para complementar lo que era la música en sí, de esta manera las narraciones eran parte habitual de muchas bandas que en ocasiones terminaban incluso por abusar de ellas, haciendo de la virtud de su uso concreto algo menos bueno que terminaba espantando a muchos de la escucha de obras completas por tal motivo. Es cierto que ese toque digamos extra, podía dar una dimensión más profunda a obras conceptuales o no, pero que requerían de un contexto que explicase su hilo conductor, pero en ocasiones daban ganas de saltarlas para llegar al meollo de la cuestión. Hoy he querido ilustrar lo dicho a través de uno de los temas de la primera de las obras en formato LP de los suecos Morifade, que tan bien se desempeñaron en la citada época de finales de los 90 e inicios de los 2000, dejando esta intro de la obra añadiendole el tema final de la misma pero sin la "chachara" del inicio, quizá en una de esas ocasiones en que este gran tema, "Ancient Prophecy" tema puede perder efectividad por tal cuetión, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Repasando los frutos del pasado 2022 hoy me he vuelto a reencontrar con esta, su segunda obra, de los griegos "Steel Arctus", perteneciente como digo a esa escena actualmente tan envidiable como es la griega, en plena forma, cosechando el trabajo bien hecho durante muchos años atrás, y que practican, (estos Steel Arctus), ese sonido también de sello característicamente griego, con ese patrón de epicidad entendida como un tanto "True metalera", que se apoya en temáticas historico fantásticas, espadas y batallas, coros y demás. Un disco este segundo, "Master of war" del que ya he hablado anteriormente en el blog y del que hoy dejo otro de sus temas, en concreto "Black Mountains" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Jag Panzer - Prey

 

PREY

Jag Panzer, dueños de una extensa y casi ininterrumpida carrera desde inicios de los 80 salvo por ese parón de cinco años en la década de los 90, han mantenido bastante bien su esencia, su sello personal a lo largo de su carrera, y de sus doce LP' s de estudio, el último de ellos de este 2023, "The Hallowed". Evidentemente aquí su origen les delata, su heavy metal, muchas veces oscuro, suena muy americano, pero yankee del de la vieja escuela, (de la que realmente forman parte), y sin duda alguna han sido influencia para muchos. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog un nuevo tema de la última de sus obras, como digo del presente 2023, concretamente "Prey!", del que dejo un enlace a youtube, los viejos guerreros nunca mueren, Jag Panzer es otro ejemplo.

Canciones para una vida - Palantir - Engage & Distant Place

 

ENGAGE  &  DISTANT  PLACE

Los suecos Palantir dan muestra de actividad en este 2023 a través de su nuevo EP, "Nightmare Opus" compuesto por siete canciones de apenas media hora de duración conjunta. Estamos una vez más ante una confirmación de que el grupo va un poco por libre en lo que se refiere a las etiquetas, o a las corrientes, si que se queda en el oido un regusto power de corte europeo casi como hilo conductor de la obra, pero en ocasiones resulta más dificil de encontrar ese nexo, aunque en temas productivos se nota esa tendencia sueca a un sonido pulcro. Así pues la banda demuestra que la intención es la de ir editando material, acorde a los tiempos que corren, aunque no sea en un formato LP estandard, la cuestión en este momento para muchos grupos parece ser menos cantidad más veces, para no diluirse entre la gran marea de bandas que llegan a la escena internacional. Canciones para una vida - Sorcerer - Morning Star

 

MORNING  STAR

Curioso el camino de este grupo, que comenzase sus primeros pasos de actividad hace más de tres décadas, (1988), pero aquel primer intento se quedo solo en un par de demos hasta 1992, donde parte del grupo se fue incorporando a otros proyectos dejando a Sorcerer solo la salida de la separación. En 2010 reactivan su actividad y es desde 2015 donde se plasma en nuevo material de estudio, hasta la fecha de esta reseña son cuatro los LP's que hablan de una banda en franco crecimiento a medida que se asientan en su concepto heavy metalico de corte épico. Es un grupo sueco que no destaca exactamente por practicar el sonido más esperable de esa escuela, son algo más oscuros, sin caer en la vertiente atmosférica, pero como decía más arriba en crecimiento y asentamiento compositivo. Este 2023 ha sido testigo de su cuarto LP, ·Reign of the reaper" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog su tema "Morning star" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Majesty - Our Time Has Come

 

OUR  TIME  HAS  COME

La verdad es que esta banda desde el comienzo de su carrera parecía condenada a vivir en la sombra de sus abiertamente admirados Manowar, sobre todo tras su prometedor y bastante personal debut de 2000 "Keep it true". Después se enfocarían aún más hacia ese concepto true metalero manowarístico, que pocas más opciones les dejaba que seguir la senda ya mencionada. Sin embargo, cuando echamos la vista atrás nos damos cuenta ya de que su carrera de ya más de veite años ha seguido adelante, y ha cosechado ya diez LP's de estudio, con un progresivo avance compositivo poco a poco más "powerizado", siempre fieles a ese espíritu "true", pero algo más "finos" componiendo. "Back to attack" es la décima obra de estudio de la banda que ha llegado en este 2023 tras cinco años de silencio compositivo, y hoy dejo en el blog uno de esos temas que ilustran lo dicho, "Our time has come" con un gancho más power, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - KK's Priest - Keeper Of The Grave

 

KEEPER  OF  THE  GRAVES

Lo que comenzó como una aventura en solitario del ex de Judas, KK Downing ve en este 2023 la continuidad al proyecto en su segundo LP "Sinner rides again", confirmando sonido, actitud y muchos de los integrantes del debut, aunque el batería Les Binks que compartiese banda con Downing en Judas y formase parte de KK's Priest en el disco de presentación en sociedad, deja el proyecto banda para esta segunda entrega se supone que por motivos de salud. El sonido es predecible solo con los antecedentes, desde luego es una onda Judas, quizá un tanto más crudo, quizá también a consecuencia de la forma de cantar de Tim Ripper Owens, pero sin duda igualmente hará las delicias de los amantes de ese sonido clasico. Hoy dejo un tema en el blog de este "Sinner Rides Again", concretamente "Keeper of the graves", con ese inicio de medio tiempo, una canción oscura al tiempo que épica, con cambios, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
