SIGNS 

La escena germana siempre destacó, desde muy temprano, por su capacidad para sacar bandas en cantidad y calidad, y el subgénero Power, y las décadas de los 90 y los 2000, fueron un combo poderoso para llenar la escena internacional de bandas de la citada nacionalidad. Uno de esos grupos fueron "Galloglass", uno de esos grupos además de los que tuvieron  un periodo de actividad demasiado corto, con apenas un par de LP's de estudio donde plasmaron un power de alta calidad. 2003 y 2005 fueron los aos escogidos para publicar su único material de estudio. Del segundo de ellos "Heavenseeker" quiero hoy dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, en concreto "Signs" tema que muestra ben el enorme potencial que atesoraban que les habría tenido que hacer poseedores de una mas larga carrera, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crematory - Revenge Is Mine

 

REVENGE  IS  MINE

cuando hablamos de una banda de esas que han dado que hablar, de las que llevan una larga trayectoria a sus espaldas, de las que han ido abriendo una senda nueva o menos transitada engrandeciendo el sub estilo que han decidido cultivar es cuando hablamos de muchos ojos mirando, de muchas opiniones corriendo en ocasiones más o menos justificadas pero igualmente vehementes. Crematory puede ajustarse a ese tipo de bandas, con una trayectoria a estas alturas de casi cuatro décadas, abriendo o ensanchando senderos proios o poco transitados y varados puesto que ha saltado por dos o tres de ellos, no muy alejados pero si diferentes. El caso es que la banda en 2018 saco su décimo cuarto LP de estudio, "Oblivion" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, y no faltó tiempo para que desde muchos sectores del mundillo se les diera de lo lindo por ello. Es cierto que la obra no debe figurar entre la de mayor acierto, que hay temas incluso poco comprensibles para Crematory, pero igualmente hay calidad que en una banda de este calibre e historia no puede faltar ni aunque lo intenten. Tratandose de un disco de luces y sombras si se pueden extraer buenos momentos, claramente a gusto del consumidor, pero seguro que si sigues a la banda de siempre algo podrás rascar. Hoy quiero yo dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, quizá no el más representativo de su sonido, en una clave medio tiempo, con elementos más comerciales pero que a mi me ha gustado de la obra, es "Revenge is mine" y de dicha canción dejo hoy un nelace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Validor - The Ten Thousand

 

THE  TEN  THOUSAND

Primer adelanto del nuevo LP de los griegos "Validor", aunque sería mejor decir de "Odi Thunderer" psuedónimo del músico Odi Toutounis, la mente compositiva tras la banda, su único integrante permanente y dueño y señor de este proyecto tan "epico" que ya lleva una cierta trayectoria, desde 2008 en adelante como Validor, y anteriormente entre 2005 y 2008 como "Epic storm". Sea como sea la banda sigue adelante, mostrandonos como digo los primeros detalles del que será ya su quinto LP de estudio "Full triumphed" que verá la luz este próximo mes de febrero. Para la ocasión ha encontrado la colaboración como músicos de sesión de Bob Katsionis conocido por su trabajo en muchas bandas y proyectos, entre otros Warriro Path o Serious Black, Firewind o Outloud por citar los más renombrados . Canciones para una vida - Master Spy - The Train

 

THE  TRAIN

Volviendo al repaso de lo mucho que ha dado de si este 2021 en lo que a discos de bandas nuevas, no tanto y veteranas, quiero hoy volver a echar un vistazo al proyecto canadiense "Master Spy", un grupo que aparentemente salido de la nada y del que poco ha transcendido, nos ha dejado un EP con una muestra de potencial increible en clave de heavy metal clásicote, muy a lo Iron Maiden pero con un aire al mismo tiempo más nuevo, un pelín "masterplanizado". El resultado es un deslumbrante conjunto de canciones que tras su escucha dan lugar al deseo de más, como si se hubiese abonado perfectamente el terreno para lo que puede estar por venir más adelante, (ojala), quizá en ese momento sepamos quienes están tras ese proyecto y entendamos mejor de donde han salido con ese aire tan clásico. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de esos cinco temas que han formado parte de ese EP, ese magnífico debut, en concreto el que le da nombre, "The Train", el más largo de los ya de por sí largos cinco temas, este con poco más de 10 minutos que en ningún momento se hace largo, antes al contrario, como decía más arriba la obra te deja con ganas de más. Canciones para una vida - Walrus - Hear The Thunder

 

HEAR  THE  THUNDER

Primer contacto con la escena internacional de los suizos "Walrus" quienes en estos días muestran su primer trabajo de estudio, en forma de EP, de título "Unstoppable Force". Hablamos de un estilo que fluctua entre el heavy metal y el power de corte europeo. La banda se forma en 2014 y desde entonces, sin recibir apoyo discográfico, se han lanzado en este 2021 a editar de forma independiente este su primer material. Interesante conjunto de cinco canciones que es también promesa de un potencial que puede llegara explotar a poco que reciban apoyo, de momento ellos solos se venden bastante bien a través de estas cinco canciones de las que hoy dejo un en el blog, en concreto "Hear The thunder" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Veremos en el futuro si tenemos más noticias de estos chicos.

Canciones para una vida - Eternity's End - Embers Of War

 

EMBERS  OF  WAR

Los alemanes "Eternity's End" son una banda que a pesar de llevar ya unos años en activo, (desde 2014), y de su innegable calidad, no han cosechado demasiado reconocimiento internacional. Sus dos primeros LP's ya mostraban ese enorme potencial y desde 2018, con una casi total renovación de integrantes, (solo Hannes Grossmann a la batería permanece como miembro en activo), se embarcan en su tercer LP que en este tramo final de 2021 (26 de noviembre) ve la luz con todo el brillo que se venía sospechando que la banda podía mostrar. estamos ante ese concepto sobre todo clásico, a medio camino de muchas cosas, heavy power con reminiscencias a bandas clásicas, de las que a mi cabeza acude sobre todo "Iron Savior", quizá también por la colaboración de Piet Sielk en algunos aspectos de la obra. Sea como sea, calidad, velocidad, técnica y acierto compositivo hace de este "Embers of war" una obra completamente recomendable, uno de esos discos que te puedes tragar de un tirón sin apenas enterarte y del que hoy dejo en el blog una de las canciones que lo componen, concretamente la que da nombre a la obra, "Embers of war" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Insania - Seasons Of Life

 

SEASONS  OF  LIFE

La escena europea de la década de los noventa, (finales) y de la década de los 2000 se vio invadida, saturada de bandas que se apuntaban al power metal como medio compositivo para desarrollar su carrera. Se diversifica y desarrolla entre otros subgéneros puntualizando incluso por zonas o regiones adquiriendo ciertas características particulares según la zona donde se compusiera, naciendo así el llamado europower que tantos exponentes tuvo en esas citadas décadas siendo el norte de europa incluyendo Alemania y toda escandinavia exponentes de la mayoria de bandas en cantidad y calidad, aunque no solo, por supuesto, otras escenas como la Italiana por ejemplo se apuntaron casi en tropel a la citada "moda". Surgen así docenas de bandas que en ocasiones apenas tienen ocasión de asomarse a la abarrotada escena internacional y comienzan la mezclas de matices en busca de una identidad propia. Insania es uno de esos grupos suecos que desarrolla su carrera en esas circunstancias, y con elementos que incluyen también un aire neoclásico y algo progresivo muestran su propuesta que nunca tuvo un reconocimiento masivo, ni mucho menos, quizá por ese componente un poco más complejo de su estilo personal. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones que componen su segundo LP, "Sunrise in riverland" de 2001, de los cinco que hasta la fecha de esta reseña componen su discografía, en concreto la canción "Seasons of life" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Metal Wallpaper BBM - Metalium - Millennium Metal Chapter One

METALIUM  -  MILLENNIUM  METAL  CHAPTER  ONE  - (1999)

Vamos con uno de esos proyectos, una de esas bandas que desde el momento mismo de su creación, sea por una gran promoción, eso sí, siempre apoyada por buenos músicos, o sea por la fama que precede a los músicos que la integran, goza automáticamente de toda la atención general del planeta metalico, como digo, una de esas bandas fue Metalium. Estos alemanes no iban a inventar nada nuevo, pero el lustroso debut que se sacaron de la manga en 1999, en plena efervescencia del power de corte europeo hizo la magia, vamos que ademas de la evidente calidad de esta obra estaban en el momento y el lugar apropiados. Encabezados por el bajista Lars Ratz que recientemente falleció en un accidente aereo lo que precipitó el fin de la banda definitivo, ya que había rumores de reunión, y es desde 2011 se había dado punto final al grupo. Como digo liderados por Lars, el grupo se completó con figuras innegables dentro del metal, Mike Terrana a la batería, Chris Caffery a la guitarra junto con Mathias Lange, y un jovencisimo Henning Basse a la voz, deslumbrando con su capacidad vocal, además de Roland Grapow como invitado a la guitarra. La verdad es que volviendo al asunto de la época, esos años eran muy propicios para proyectos de esta clase, la escena estaba sobresaturada de bandas power, de calidad o no tanto, y cuando aparecia un proyecto nuevo de este calibre simplemente era consumido con avidez por el gran público. Personalmente creo que luego la banda iría poco a poco desinflándose, quizá también por la excesiva monotonía de todas las obras a pesar de la calidad, pero este "Millenium Metal Chapter One" siempre tendrá un sitio en mi colección especial por muchos motivos, y de él dejo hoy su artwork en el blog.

Canciones para una vida - Iced Earth - Written On The Walls

 

WRITTEN  ON  THE  WALLS

Un poco como sucede con otra gran banda, la de los alemanes Rage, los estadounidenses Iced Earth ya habían demostrado grandes virtudes antes incluso de llamarse como actualmente lo hacen, en el caso de Rage fueron "Avenger" y en el de Iced Earth "Purgatory", y es que a las grandes bandas, las que demuestran su poderío a lo largo y ancho de décadas sin bajar el pistón, se las ve venir desde el inicio. Iced Earth es una de esas elegidas. Con ese sonido personal desde el principio de su carrera que ha sabido mezclar los elementos del heavy metal, el power y el thrash para amalgamarse en ese sonido reconocible y reconocido. El primero de los discos del grupo bajo el nombre de Iced Earth lleva el nombre de la propia banda y se publicó en 1990. Simplemente impecable, más aún si nos quedamos con el dato de que se trata de un debut después de todo, un anuncio de lo que esta gente tenía por decir y que prometían vendría, en cierto modo innovadora obra desde la perspectiva de la mezcla de estilos, más que por el hecho en sí por la forma de mezclarlos, la precisa dosificación en momentos y cantidades que al final es lo que les ha dado su sello personal. Disco recomendable en su conjunto, del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, concretamente "Written on the walls", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Rebellion - The Clans Are Marching

 

THE  CLANS  ARE  MARCHING

Tras la salida de Uwe Lulis y Tomi Gottlich de Grave Digger, después de la trilogía de la edad media de la citada banda, ambos músicos la dejan  no de muy buenas maneras, con litigio incluido por los derechos de uso del nombre "Grave Digger" que finalmente conservaría Boltendahl. Comienzan a desarrollar su carrera en el nuevo proyecto "Rebellion", muy revelador el nombre. Ya desde el inicio de la historia de la banda se ve la necesidad de los músicos por reivindicarse como parte importante de lo que había hecho Grave Digger mientras ellos estaban en la banda, y pronto iniciarían su propia trilogía en esta ocasión sobre la historia de los vikingos, lo que ha resultado ser hasta la fecha el mayor acierto compositivo de la banda en mi humilde opinión. En ese momento del grupo, entre 2005 y 2009, con sus tercero, cuarto y quinto LP's respectivamente, se les ve con una insultante confianza, y con una resolución compositiva que les hacía candidatos casi a hacer sombra  a los propios Grave Digger. En plena época vikinga se sacan de la manga este EP, "The clans are marching" en 2009, justo antes de su quinto LP y tercero vikingo, un EP donde incluyen esta versión demoledora del tema de Grave Digger, y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube. Es una pena que posteriormente no hayan mantenido ese nivelón, que para mi gusto va en decadencia, ojalá cambie su dinámica o mi percepción, pues echo de menos discos de la talla de aquellos de la historia de los vikingos.

Canciones para una vida - Paladine - Mighty Heart

 

MIGHTY  HEART

Como ya vengo diciendo ultimamente en el blog, la escena griega goza de una excelente salud en lo metálico, con bandas nuevas saliendo a la palestra en los ultimos años de manera continua, y algunas de ellas han visto en este 2021 la confirmación de su buen hacer con un segundo Lp, entre ellos Paladine. Formados en 2013 hasta 2017 no publican material de estudio en forma de un muy buen debut del que ya he hablado en el blog, y, comom digo, 2021 ha sido la fecha para darle continuidad a su carrera con este "Entering The Abyss" del que hoy quiero dejar uno de sus temas. La verdad es que con las primeras escuchas de la obra, y tras mantener tan altas expectativas tras su debut quizá me hubiera esperado algo más de la obra, aunque tras una escucha más reposada he de decir que se ha mitigado algo dicha sensación. Estamos una vez más ante un power de bastante corte europeo, con lírica de fantasía, (en este caso sobre la Dragonlance), buena producción y temas fáciles de asimilar. De dicha segunda obra dejo hoy en el blog la canción "Mighty Heart" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - The Ferrymen - One Word

 

ONE  WORD

Ya está punto de salir a la venta la tercera entrega del proyecto internacional "The Ferrymen", que llevará por título "One More River To Cross", cuya fecha oficial de salida será el 22 de enero de este inminente 2022. Hablar de este proyecto es hablar de nombres que actualmente gozan de una merecida fama, tales como Magnus Karlsson a la guitarra, Ronnie Romero a la voz o Mike Terrana a la bateria, todos ellos argumentos en si mismos para prestarle toda la atención a la banda que va ya por la citada tercera entrega lo que les da de pleno derecho ya el estatus de banda como tal más que el de proyecto paralelo. El caso es que son músicos que gustan mucho de los proyectos variados y son proclives a este tipo de colaboraciones, que veremos en este caso la vida que terminan teniendo, de momento desde 2016. El primero de los adelantos lleva por nombre "One Word" donde vuelven a utilizar ese power "aprogresivado" muy a lo Masterplan, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  BEAST  FROM  THE  BLACKNESS

Iron Fire ya lleva apareciendo en varias ocasiones en el blog y las que vendrán, desde luego merecidamente, desde su demoledor y espectacular debut "Thunderstorm" dejaron claro que lo suyo era hacer su sonido personal, propio, que han sabido perpetuar e ir afilando obra tras obra, y ya van 9 en más de veinticinco años de carrera. La quinta de sus obras, "To the grave", de 2009, no es una excepción en el universo personal power de la banda, de corte europeo, con muchos de los argumentos que una obra de este subgénero debería tener siempre si existiera un manual de como hacerlo, calidad incuetionable que domina la obra en su conjunto, desde el tema que la abre por ejemplo, "The beast from the blackness" de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

POISON  INSIDE  MY  HEART

"Poison Inside my heart" es uno de los temas que componen el último de los trabajos de los suecos Eclipse, de título "Wired" del presente 2021, uno de esos temas que representan otra de sus características compositivas, la de las canciones más tranquilitas, de esas vestidas con piel de medio tiempo pero con la capacidad de darte un plus en el sentido de la energía, son temas que tienen esa virtud de satisfacerte en lo más melancólico tanto como al tiempo darte esa dosis energética, una faceta en la que una vez más Eclipse se han hecho unos maestros. La verdad es que la obra en su conjunto es destacable, recomendable, pero es que realmente toda su discografía a lo largo ya de dos décadas es remarcable. En fin, solo dejar en el blog hoy un enlace a youtube de este "Poison Inside my heart".

Canciones para una vida - Gravety - Tower Of Ghenjei

 

TOWER  OF  GHENJEI

Gravety es una banda alemana de esas que han mirado un poco a los inicios del sonido metálico para realizar un concepto propio pero que huele a ese metal épico clásico de la escuela de los primeros Manowar si se quiere, quitando en realidad bastantes cosas, sobre todo "parafernalia", pero en lo sonoro pueden darse un aire en momentos , así para acotar su sonido. Realmente la banda tiene ya una cierta trayectoria a sus espaldas a pesar de no haber transcendido su trabajo demasiado de momeno. Así, desde 2009 en que se forman han editado solo dos LP's de estudio "Into the grave" de 2012, con una aire un tanto más "Thrash" que se ha tormado en ese mayor enfoque mencionado "epic", "old school", en su segundo LP de este 2021 de título "Bow Down", de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, "Tower Of Ghenjei", buen ejemplo de la capacidad compositiva de la banda y de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.
