Canciones para una vida - Great Master - Randy Dandy Oh

 

RANDY  DANDY  OH

Una de las grandes y agradables sorpresas para mí de 2019 fue el disco que se sacaron de la manga estos italianos, Great Master, "Skull and bones", obra que recuerda a muchas cosas y que retoma el argumentario corsario tan de moda en estos días para dar un paso adelante en su carrera que ha sido evidente. Este 2021 dan continuidad a su buen momento con la edición de otra obra, considerada un LP por los 9 temas que contiene aunque creo que habría sido más apropiado catalogarlo como un EP, ya que algunos de los temas que incluye son versiones acusticas o promocionales junto con algunos temas nuevos. Desde luego sea como sea la catalogación de la obra, si que siguen en la buena senda mostrada en su anterior disco mencionado, y quizá arrastrados por el reconocimiento a ese gran disco incluyen temas regrabados o variados, como para llamar la atención sobre el material anterior y su carrera previa antes de que el público se olvide de ellos. Canciones para una vida - Marius Danielsen's Legend Of Valley Doom - Journey To The North

 

JOURNEY  TO  THE  NORTH

Desde Noruega llega en este 2021 la tercera entrega del músico Marius Danielsen con su proyecto familiar y de colaboraciones "Legend of valley doom" ya en su tercer episodio como digo. Este proyecto comenzó en 2005 como idea y se plasmó diez años más tarde en el primero de los episodios de esta historia llena de colaboraciones de lujo y enmarcada en un power metal con arreglos y un hilo argumental en plena onda a los primeros discos de Avantasia. Estamos ante una "opera metalica" que se ha repetido en muchas versiones en las últimas décadas, es decir que como idea no descubre nada nuevo, sin embargo, el transcurrir de la carrera del grupo va mostrando un mejor hacer progresivamente y en este tercer episodio se alcanzan cotas altas que los amantes del subgénero power celebrarán sin duda. Quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de las canciones que componen esta obra, y seguramente una de mis preferidas de la misma, "Journey to the north" en una tesitura un tanto "Gloryhammer", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Incursed - Who Stole My Beer

 

WHO  STOLE  MY  BEER

Tiempo llevaba ya queriendo traer material de los españoles "Incursed" al blog, y el nuevo material de estudio de la banda, "Baskavigin" del presente 2021 es la escusa perfecta. El grupo se forma en Burgos, (Aranda de Duero) en 2007 para "emigrar" a Bilbao en 2009, buscando imagino mayor apoyo y posibilidades promocionales y de grabación..Siempre se han movido en el entorno estilistico del death melódico con tintes folk y una base instrumental en ocasiones cercana al power para ir desarrollando un estilo personal que ha ido afinandose a medida que avanzaba su carrera. Cinco LP's de estudio más dos EP's componen su discografía y de los miembros originales tan solo el batería permanece en la banda, eso se ha notado también en la inclusión de letras en euskera, además de otras en inglés, en algunos de sus temas desde 2016 en adelante, con la entrada a la banda de sangre nueva de su zona de residencia. Sea como sea, la banda parece ir, como digo, en franco crecimiento y su quinto LP de estudio así lo demuestra, "Baskavigin" salido a la venta el pasado mes de febrero, obra de la que dejo hoy en el blog el tema "Who stole my beer", con ese innegable aire finlandés y nórdico, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Helloween - Fear Of The Fallen

 

FEAR  OF  THE  FALLEN

Absolutamente vigente lo dicho en el primer adelanto de la esperada obra reunión de los miticos "Helloween", quienes nos dejan estos días otro de los adelantos de su obra homónima "Helloween" que saldrá a la venta de forma oficial el 18 de junio. El nuevo tema se titula "Fear of the fallen" y en él encontramos más motivos para esperar un importante disco que veremos si encuentra continuidad a largo plazo, o a corto medio en sucesivas obras. Desde luego la idea que mostraba yo en la entrada "Skyfall" no hace sino  acudir de nuevo a mi cabeza, ¿como se repartirán el protagonismo vocal Deris y Kiske?,¿alcanzarán el equilibrio perfecto y necesario para no entrar en conflicto?, sea como sea esta obra será seguramente un regalo para los que amamos el sonido de la banda, de las diferentes épocas, y desde luego de lo que no cabe duda alguna es de la magia compositiva del genio Hansen, cuya figura no hace sino crecer con los años, y este es un paso más en esa dirección de crecimiento. Canciones para una vida - Evermore - See No Evil

 

SEE  NO  EVIL

Gratisisma sorpresa la de estos suecos para mí de reciente descubrimiento, aunque en general se les pueda atribuir la etiqueta de banda nueva ya que su formación se remonta al pasado 2020. Ya dejé una de las canciones que componen su primer LP "Court of the tyrant king" en el blog y hoy quiero dejar otra de las que me han llamado la atención, aunque en general me parece un buen debut, "See no evil", tema de esos que se meten rápido en la cabeza y que uno tararea el estribillo desde la primera escucha, esperemos que la carrera de la banda siga en crecimiento pues de hacerlo así darán mucho que hablar. Canciones para una vida - Brainstorm - Escape The Silence

 

ESCAPE  THE  SILENCE

A la vista ya tenemos el nuevo material de estudio de los alemanes "Brainstorm", una de esas bandas que durante muchos años han logrado practicamente subsistir sin alcanzar mayores metas de reconocimiento para dar un giro en los ultimos años encaminandose más hacia un power más clásico y con el consejo del buen hacer de Seeb Levermann de Orden Ogan en la producción dar un paso más allá hacia mayores ventas y un sonido con más "filo" que ha ido llegando a más seguidores y de la mano a mayor reconocimiento general. El próximo disco de la banda "Wall of skulls" será ya el décimo tercer LP del grupo y verá la luz de forma oficial el 20 de agosto, y de él nos llega el primero de los adelantos, "Escape the silence", canción que cuenta con la colaboración de Peavy Wagner de "Rage", y que redunda en la idea que acabo de exponer, discos más cuidados en todo que van haciendo subir peldaños poco a poco a la banda, una canción eta "Escape the silence" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Thundergod - Powerglove

 

POWERGLOVE

Nueva banda de reciente formación de la inagotable cantera finlandesa, en esta ocasión practicando un sonido power de los de la escuela europea. "ThunderGod" se crea en el presente 2021 integrados por músicos con cierto curriculum apareciendo nombres como "Celesty" u "Oz", aunque no se trata de miembros antiguos, se trata de gente joven y en el caso de "Oz" concretamente miembros que ayudaron a la resurrección de la veterana banda desde la segunda década de este siglo. Como digo hablamos de power metal, ni más ni menos, y se han aventurado a editar de forma independiente este primer material de estudio en forma de un EP de título "The Realm" con cuatro temas. El único punto que me gustaría destacar es en el apartado vocal, y es que he tenido la sensación de que las composiciones están creadas quizá en un punto demasiado alto para las características del cantante, que por otra parte no resulta para nada malo, es simplemente que me parece que no le hace justicia el tono que busca, sobre todo en el tema "Thundergod", por lo demás, creo que demuestran un enorme potencial para el subgénero y seguramente darán que hablar. Los suecos Sabaton lanzan otro single más, el tercero ya este año, en lo que parece una costumbre ya en el modus operandi de la banda, en esta ocasión siendo además una versión "Sabatonizada" de una canción del músico ruso "Radio Tapok". Desde luego que la capacidad de hacer suyo un tema no compuesto por esta banda sueca es enorme, y una vez más lo consiguen con este "Defence Of Moscow" que por supuesto, sigue con la tradición lírica de hablar de las guerras, un tema aparentemente interminable para una de esas bandas que reciben todas las miradas cada vez que deciden editar material nuevo. Canciones para una vida - Thyrfing - Jordafärd

 

JORDAFÄRD

Sobre todo, y por encima de otro tipo de adjetivos calificaré este segundo adelanto del próximo LP de estudio de los suecos "Thyrfing" como ëpico, temazo de esos que me llegan, así como en clave de medio tiempo, con esa atmósfera que no puede hacer otra cosa que llevarte bien lejos. Está claro que estos tios siempre han sabido perfectamente lo que se traen entre manos, es por eso que la sola noticia de que pensaban este 2021 sacar su octavo LP de estudio que se titulará "Vanagandr" para el mes de agosto había ya hecho que se despertasen en mí todas la alarmas, pero tras la escucha de los dos adelantos esto no hace más que agudizarse. En fín, veremos, de momento dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube del clip oficial de este tema, "Jordafärd", traducido como "Burial" en inglés, "Entierro" en castellano..

Canciones para una vida - Judas Priest - Rock Hard Ride Free

 

ROCK  HARD  RIDE  FREE

Hablar de grandes bandas es hacerlo de un valor seguro, y de entre ellas, una de las más respetadas por méritos propios dentro del heavy metal, y seguramente una de las que más peso tienen en lo que a influencia se refiere es Judas Priest, unos britanicos que modelaron el camino para muchos otros de los que se consideran grandes, de hecho, ¿cuantas bandas pueden presumir de que nada menos que Iron Maiden les teloneasen?, Judas pueden. Es además Judas un grupo que está en absoluta forma compositiva como demostró en 2018 con su "Firepower", magnífico album del que ya he hablado por aquí. El caso es que mirar a su discografía es un trabajo grande a la hora de tener que escoger, pero grato con la certeza de casi no poder equivocarse, y uno de esos grandes albumes de la banda es este "Defenders of the faith" de 1984 del que hoy quiero volver a dejar en el blog una canción, hoy "Rock Hard ride free", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube, Judas Priest, la definición del heavy metal.

Canciones para una vida - Pegazus - Bastards Of War

 

BASTARDS  OF  WAR

La sensación al escuchar el primer sonido de la banda australiana Pegazus ha sido siempre para mí la misma, esa sensación de estar escuchando una de las muchas bandas que salieron a mitad de la década de los 80 solo que en este caso con una década de retraso, y es algo no dicho de forma peyorativa, antes al contrario, en un momento en el que muchas bandas abrian, o continuaban por sendas nuevas, evolucionando a otras cosas, ellos comenzaban mirando hacia el sonido clásico, y su evolución, sobre todo en su siguiente obra sería muy en el camino del power, pero su debut es simple y llanamente heavy metal de la vieja escuela. Hablamos de 1995 cuando editaban este "Pegazus" homónimo al nombre de la banda, abriendo ese camino que les ha llevado sin demasiado reconocimeinto hasta nuestros días, aunque lleven, a fecha de esta reseña, una década sin editar nada nuevo. Canciones para una vida - Steelbourne - A Tale As Old As Time

 

A  TALE  AS  OLD  AS  TIME

Nueva banda que abre su historia personal en este 2021 a nivel discográfico pues su fecha de formación es 2020. De origen danés "Steelbourne" practica un power metal de caracter personal, sin llegar a inventar nada nuevo pero que parece ser de esas bandas que canalizán más de un punto de vista, imagino que procedente de los tres músicos que componen la banda y que comparten pasado en otro par de proyectos anteriores poco conocidos. A pesar de ser una obra sin apoyo discográfico la producción es mucho más que cuidada y la promesa de lo que puede venir debe hacer que les prestemos atención no solo por el presente sino por el citado futuro. La duración un tanto corta de la obra debut, "A tale as old as time" puede hacer pensar en que se trata de un proyecto paralelo, unido al citado pasado en común de los miembros del grupo en otras bandas, o quizá es ese golpe de timón para intentar alcanzar mayores metas bajo un nuevo nombre, sea como sea la obra es muy recomendable y de ella hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema que da nombre a la misma, "A tale as old as time" con un comienzo tranquilito que va desarrollandose en fuerza y garra, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - U.D.O. - Animal House

 

ANIMAL  HOUSE

Está claro que en esto del heavy metal existen figuras con un peso específico tan importante centrado en su figura que se transforman en esenciales para entender el género en su totalidad, y no es menos cierto que esas figuras van inevitablemente unidas al éxito de una u otra manera, que son las bandas más grandes las que acumulan más de estas figuras, por el hecho mismo de pertenecer a esas bandas, o esas bandas han llegado a lo que son por integrar a esos miembros. También es bien cierto que muchos de esos nombres míticos corresponden a músicos que desempeñan la función de vocalistas, un puesto muy visible y reconocible, que llega mucho y muy claro al oyente incluso menos investigador. Al hablar de UDO, lo hacemos de uno de esos músicos, Udo Dirkschneider, ex frontman de Accept como todos sabemos, desarrollo su carrera en solitario en parte solapando ambas bandas, (UDO y Accept) para definitivamente centrarse en UDO y abandonar Accept en 1996. El primero de los materiales editados por UDO fue "Animal House" en 1987, demostrando que era algo más que la voz de Accept, y eclipsándolo en muchas ocasiones hasta el renacimiento de dicha banda con la incorporación de Marc Tornillo en 2009, y su segunda juventud como banda. Pues bien, de este primer trabajo de UDO de 1987, quiero dejar hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Animal House", que da nombre a la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Maiden - Aces High

 

ACES  HIGH

No por ser muy repetido debemos tenerlo menos en cuenta, pero el hecho es que Iron Maiden es uno de los grupos más grandes de la historia del heavy metal, e incluso trascendiendo el género, de la música en general. Esta afirmación que se sustenta por méritos propios de la banda, se basa en obras fundamentales como la que hoy de nuevo nos ocupa, "Powerslave" de 1984, la leyenda de la banda ya comenzaba en esos momentos a ser real y grande y para su ya quinto LP de estudio, este "Powerslave" se preparaban para afrontar la conquista planetaria en su gira más extensa, (que así a continuado siendo) a través de su "World Slavery Tour" presentando este "Powerslave" durante dos años que quedaría plasmado en el anotlógico directo "Live after Death",en 1985,  para mi gusto el mejor disco en vivo que he escuchado y que guardo como un tesoro personal en mi casa en su formato vinilo doble. Semejante gira se alimentaba de un material tremendo presentado en el disco que nos ocupa y también, por supuesto en el material anterior, seguramente los mejores momentos de la banda. Hoy quiero volver adejar en el blog otro de los temazos de la obra, "Aces High", que decir, un clasico de la banda, de esos temas que no dan tregua y del que dejo un enlace a youtube, Iron Maiden, historia viva metálica.

Canciones para una vida - Sonic Haven - Vagabond

 

VAGABOND

Hace tan solo un par de días traía al blog una vez más a la banda alemana "Seventh Avenue", y hoy, dejo en el blog una de las canciones del debut de otros alemanes "Sonic Haven" que tienen un punto de relación con los citados "Seventh Avenue" ya que el corazon de "Sonic Haven" es Herbie Langhans, que fue voz y fuerza de los años en que "Seventh Avenue" permanecieron en activo. De nuevo hablamos de power metal, y de nuevo de corte europeo, y una vez más al referirme a esta banda lo hago sobre músicos de larga experiencia apareciendo en sus curriculums bandas de la talla de los propios Seventh Avenue, Rage, Bonfire o Silent Force, complementandose con la contrastada labor de producción de Sasha Paeth y Miro, (Heavens Gate). Tales menciones han de ser en si mismas una garantía para despertar al menos unas grandes expectativas que enseguida cumple este album "Vagabond" de Sonic Haven, que ha visto la luz este recién pasado 7 de mayo, y del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de su tema homónimo, "Vagabond", de su clip oficial.
