Realmente curioso el caso de esta banda italiana en lo que se refiere a la producción discográfica, ya que a pesar del periodo ya largo de actividad que llevan a sus espaldas, (desde 2008), tan solo han editado dos LP's de estudio, el segundo de ellos en este 2021. Hablamos de power metal sinfónico, de ese que gusta de demasiados quizá arreglos que hacen de su sonido algo en ocasiones demasiado recargado, lo cual no quita en absoluto para hablar de calidad, de buenas ideas o de temas destacables. Desde luego se puede ver de fondo el influjo de sus compatriotas Rhapsody. En definitiva, otra banda m´s que en mi caso particular veo más como banda de temas sueltos que de discos completos por el momento, y de este segundo LP de estudio. "The Inheritance of beauty", de este 2021, quiero dejar en el blog la canción "The Mutineers", particularmente esta muy "Rhapsody", y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Orden Ogan - Inferno

 

INFERNO

La capacidad general de esta banda alemana es algo comprobado obra tras obra, y su séptimo LP de estudio, "Final Days", no ha sido una excepción. Siempre termina dandome esa sensación de obra completa cada uno de sus discos, aunque siempre es justo decir que yo ya estoy atrapado desde prácticamente el inicio de su carrera en sus redes compositivas por lo que mi opinión no se hasta que punto será objetiva. Sea como sea, el nuevo disco de los alemanes Orden ogan resulta dar para muchas menciones o para rescatar en el blog muchos de sus temas, con el mismo argumento de siempre, pero eso es siempre un arma de doble filo, argumnto para sus detractores y al mismo tiempo para sus defensores, el caso es que a esta banda, visto como crece su reputación, tampoco les urge cambiar de planteamiento, algo que muchos celebramos. Hoy, dejo el que fue su segundo single de adelanto, "Inferno" con todos los ingredientes marca de la casa, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Evermore - Hero's Journey & Call Of The Wild

 

HERO'S  JOURNEY  &  CALL  OF  THE  WILD

 Nueva banda de la escena sueca que en estos día muestra sus primeros pasos en su carrera musical con la publicación de su primer LP "Court Of The Tyrant King" este recién pasado 28 de abril. Hablamos de un power metal de corte europeo y de la escuela sueca, ambas cuestiones argumentos de peso para prestarles atención. Aparentemente estamos ante unos músicos sin trayectoria anterior conocida pero es algo que no se nota en absoluto viendo el desempeño de la banda tanto en lo compositivo como en lo interpretativo. Además se han auto producido la obra con una muy aceptable producción y todo apunta a que su futuro puede ser brillante aunque quizá sea pronto para aventurar nada todavía. Quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones que componen este debut, concretamente la que abre la obra, "Call of the wild" con su intro "Hero's Journey", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Cydonia - Slave To Dream

 

SLAVE  TO  DREAM

Cydonia, (los italianos), puesto que hay varias bandas que han escogido este nombre para su aventura musical, son un grupo que enmarca su sonido en un power metal lleno de matices, casi con tintes incluso progresivos y tildados de thrash en ocasiones, y que desarrollaron su carrera a comienzos de la década de los 2000. Fundados en 1999 tan solo dos LP's componen su discografía, y de ambos el primero de ellos es a mi entender el más destacable. Para entender más el sonido de esta obra, "Cydonia" de 2000, es interesante enmarcar el sonido y la escena, ya que por esos años la escena italiana del power sobre todo vivía uno de sus momentos más dulces lo que siempre atrae nuevas posibilidades y oportunidades a través del "apadrinamiento" de unos y otros, cogiendo la marca italiana del power una cierta inercia que hacía salir bandas continuamente. Y en esas estamos con Cydonia, en cierto modo apadrinados por Olaf Thorsen, (Labyrinth, Vision Divine entre otros), quien ayudo a componer la mayor parte de esta obra de 2000. El resultado un disco mucho más que interesante, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta el hecho de que fue un debut, recomendable y del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de su tema "Slave to dream". Otra banda más que quedó en el camino y no por falta de calidad ni potencial precisamente.

WE  GOT  THE  RIGHT

Siempre es un buen momento para repasar obras maestras, siemre hay un motivo para volver a recurrir a ellas y más si cabe si la obra maestra es una obra maestra entre las obras maestras, caso de este "Keeper Part 2" de 1988. Más aún, se antoja muy idoneo recuperar otro de los temas que lo componen en estos tiempos en que los que amamos la formación de esos Helloween estamos ilusionados a tope con la reunificación de la banda para este año en estudio y tras la presentación de su primer single "Skyfall". Volviendo a disco de culto, este Keeper es perfecto de inicio a fin y hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, hoy "We got the right" de la que dejo un enlace a yotube. Un disco eterno.

Canciones para una vida - AC/DC - Heatseeker

 

HEATSEEKER

Que gran ejercicio es siempre recorrerse los ochenta de arriba a abajo, de delante hacia atrás, de los más hard a lo más heavy, de lo más black a lo más Trash, es siempre un ejercicio de descubrimiento y enriquecimiento que hace ver la magnitud de esa irrepetible década, y hablar de ese momento musical es hacerlo de bandas como AC/DC y su inquebrantable propuesta. Hoy, quiero hacerlo de uno de sus discos quizá más criticados, "Blow Up your video" de 1988, una obra en la que se critica que la banda pudiese haber compuesto "en automático", como con carencia de la garra típica de su carrera, pero es solo una opinión de las que se pueden escuchar, al final esto va de sensaciones y la música de estos australianos siempre ha estado sobrada de trnasmitir emociones. Es posible que la fórmula para estos días de la banda fuese algo diferente, también estabamos en 1988, y muchos grupos experimentaban en esos días, buscando sendas nuevas en una escena internacional que cambiaba sobre todo tirada por el hard americano que parecía ser la gallina de los huevos de oror del momento. Quizá hasta AC/DC se dejase tentar en ese sentido, pero siguen sonando a ellos mismos en este "Blow up your video", sin duda. De la obra hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus singles, "Heatseeker" un clásico más de la banda de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - The Hammer Returneth & Signe Of The Warlorde

 

THE  HAMMER  RETURNETH  &  SIGNE  OF  THE  WARLORDE

Volvamos a comienzos de la década de los 2000, para ver el amanecer de una banda alemana de nombre "Stormwarrior", grupo que ha sabido mantenerse vivo a lo largo de esos años hasta la actualidad con 6 LP's de estudio completados con otros tres EP's. Hablamos de un power metal con un amplio tufillo al speed metal que comenzó a cambiar la escena internacional a mediados de los 80, de hecho, se trata de una banda que recibió en sus inicios el apoyo de nada menos que Kai Hansen y otros miembros de Helloween y Gamma Ray para comenzar su andadura con un poco de empuje y garantías, pero que desde el inicio supieron demostrar que el potencial estaba ahí y ellos también por méritos propios. Su primera obra, "Stormwarrior" data de 2002, y viendo la portada vemos mucho de por donde pueden ir los tiros, temáticas épicas, actitud true manowarera y apoyo helloweenero de los primeros días, del "walls" , para facturar un más que destacable debut que les puso en el mapa internacional. Una obra que tendría continuidad en sus siguientes discos y de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema que abre junto con su intro, canción de la que dejo un enlace a Youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Iron Fire - Into The Abyss

 

INTO  THE  ABYSS

Con Iron Fire, la banda danesa, me sucede eso que me pasa en algunas ocasiones con ciertas bandas, una sensación de grupo que por una parte no ha llegado a cosechar todo el reconocimiento y éxito que la calidad de, por ejemplo su debut, mereció, y que por otra parte ha tenido la tenacidad de mantenerse contra viento y marea activos en una escena internacional tan saturada y sin dar su brazo a torcer, habiendo ya creado una respetable discografía de 9 LP's de estudio de un power que en los últimos tiempos ha evolucionado con la demanda de la escena internacional del power. Los inicios sin embargo, eran más fieles al sentir del power de corte europeo afin a la época, con ese aire un pelín más acelerado marca de la casa. Producido por Tommy Hansen, la segunda de las obras de los daneses de título "On the edge" de 2001, a mi entender no alcanza el descomunal nivelón del debut "Thunderstorm" del año anterior, pero si parecía ir apuntalando una carrera que apuntaba bien alto, algo que a la postre no llegaría a cumplirse, al menos en lo que a reconocimiento general se refiere. Canciones para una vida - Gamma Ray - Anywhere In The Galaxy

 

ANYWHERE  IN  THE  GALAXY

No podía faltar uno de los jefes de esto a su cita con el final de siglo pasado a la hora de editar un disco, me refiero por supuesto a Kai Hansen con sus Gamma Ray y su disco "Power Plant" de 1999, y digo que no podía faltar puesto que la parte final de los 90 del siglo pasado fue sin duda un festival continuo de obras maestras dentro del género del power metal, sobre todo de composición europea, y de ello sabe, y mucho el citado Kai Hansen, prácticamente el padre del subgénero y parte importante de ese nutrido tesoro de LP's memorables de la década con sus Gamma Ray. "Power Plant" pondría el colofón perfecto a ese siglo en un derroche de todas las virtudes compositivas e interpretativas de los alemanes Gamma Ray. El disco es esa demostración de que el señor Hansen sabe lo que se hace y sin duda algún día recibirá toda la importancia que merece, si no lo ha hecho ya. De la obra de 1999 destacar solo un tema es injustisimo, pero hoy quiero hacerlo con el tema que abre la misma, "Anywhere in the galaxy" toda una demostración de power en poco más de seis minutos, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Blitzkrieg - The Legend Part 1 Crimson Dawn & Part 2 Nations Divided

 

THE  LEGEND  PART  2  NATIONS  DIVIDED

La escena más underground suele ser siempre el origen natural de las bandas y tras un tiempo más o menos largo en relación directa con el éxito cosechado suelen abandonar muchos de los elementos propios de ese momento tales como el tipo de producción musical o incluso el tipo de composición. Pero, hay bandas que ven su personalidad plasmada en ese tipo de momento y deciden perpetuarlo como parte de su identidad, a pesar de lo que les pueda perjudicar a la hora de promocionarse, y por lo tanto de hacer dinero, o quizás, sea más un caso de no ser capaces por motivos aparte de la calidad musical, de asomar la cabeza para triunfar a nivel internacional y mostrar un tesón igualmente digno de mención para alargar su carrera y su concepto en el tiempo.Uno de esos grupos que a pesar de su larga historia y de su cierto reconocimiento como banda de culto, que se encuentra muy a gusto con ese aire underground son los britanicos "Blitzkrieg", de los que ya he hablado en esta páginas, un grupo nacido al calor de la NWOBHM a comienzos de los ochenta, con varias etapas y que continua en la actualidad en activo con ya 10 LP's de estudio más tres EP's. Heavy metal de corte épico, de la vieja escuela y sin adorno alguno, del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su cuarto disco "The Mists Of Avalon", de 1998 uno de los más épicos del grupo, concretamente "The legend", canción de más de veinte minutos de la que dejo su segunda parte, "Nations Divided", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Pegazus - Wings Of Steel

 

WINGS  OF  STEEL

La segunda de las obras de estudio de los australianos "Pegazus" es uno de esos discos que resultan sorprendentes por lo inesperado de una escena como la australiana en un contexto compositivo como el power y más aún como el power de corte europeo más bien, pero es que estamos hablando de finales de los 90, que por una parte explica la predilección del subgénero por muchas bandas pero por otra confirma más aún la extrañeza al ubicar al grupo en su origen australiano, una escena poco pródiga al power sobre todo en aquel instante. sea como sea este es uno de esos discos que sorprende a los que desconozcan a la banda, una obra bastante completa de un grupo que hoy en día sigue en activo a pesar de no editar material nuevo de estudio desde 2011 ya componiendo su discografía un total de 5 LP's. SONS  OF  A  WOLF

Ya están aquí las primeras pinceladas de lo nuevo de los italianos "Vexillum", otra banda más de power que se une a las que añaden ese componente folk a la mezcla. Es además una de esas bandas que hace ya mucho que quería traer al blog y los primeros adelantos de su nuevo material han sido la excusa perfecta. El grupo cuenta ya con una trayectoria e historia respetable pues se forman en 2004 aunque bajo el nombre de "Shadow Vexillum" para dejar su nombre tan solo en "Vexillum" desde 2007 en adelante. Cuatro (incluyendo este nuevo trabajo "When good men go to war" cuya salida se espera para este inminente 23 de abril) son los LP's que componen su discografía, una cantidad un tanto escasa contanto todos sus años de actividad pero es que desde 2015 no editaban nada. En sus anteriores discos sin duda planeaba la comparación estilística sobre todo con sus compatriotas "Elvenking", confirmandose pues ese estilo power folk. Uno de sus primeros adelantos de esta nueva obra de 2021 es la canción "Sons of a wolf" de la que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Elvenking - The Moon And Magic

 

THE  MOON  AND  MAGIC

Otra banda más que da señales de vida compositiva en este 2021, los italianos "Elvenking" que muestran un single nuevo que imagino que formará parte de un próximo LP del que aún no tengo noticia a fecha de esta reseña. 2019 fue la fecha escogida por el grupo para editar su último LP, "Reader of the runes Divination". Por lo escuchado en este adelanto o single nuevo hay una reminiscencia hacia los momentos clásicos de la banda, un sonido muy "Elvenking" se desprende de este "The moon and magic", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Warrior Path - Last Tale

 

LAST  TALE

Vuelta a la última obra de la banda griega "Warrior Path", uno de los discos que esperaba yo personalmente con ganas y que en absoluto me ha decepcionado, más bien al contrario, despierta más expectativas en mí de ver hasta donde llegará la carrera de este fantástico músico, Bob Katsionis, guitarrista, bajista y teclista de la banda además de motor compositivo del proyecto. Unido ahora a la impresionante voz del sueco Daniel Heiman la obra como digo ha alcanzado todas mis expectativas, y otro gran ejemplo que ilustra lo que digo es la canción "Last tale", tema a medio tiempo, con momentos de aceleración que culminan en un solo que da muerte al tema de esos que se meten en la cabeza para ya no salir nunca más, cancionaza de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Primal fear - I Will Be Gone

 

I  WILL  BE  GONE

No es ningún secreto que los alemanes están pasando por uno de sus mejores momentos musicales, algo que ha quedado plasmado en el monumental disco "Metal Commando" del pasado 2020, un album que se ve en cierta manera ahora complementado con este EP "I will be gone" que la banda ha editado este año 2021. En el citado EP se incluye el tema "I will be gone" perteneciente a "Metal commando" pero con la variación del dueto entre Scheepers y Tarja, un plus con uno de los nombres míticos como es la citada ex vocalista de Nightwish. Además se incluyen cuatro temas más, uno de ellos "Vote of no confidence" incluido como bonus en el citado "Metal Commando". Como digo un complemento perfecto a un album redondo que muestra un futuro a corto plazo de la banda para mí deslumbrante, veremos si se confirma en su próxima obra.
