CASTOR  SKIES

A pesar de que en el momento actual, esta banda internacional tiene poco que ver en cuanto a sus integrantes con el momento inicial de su carrera, el espíritu compositivo si que ha ido manteniendose en esta banda que nació con esa vocación de proyecto colaborativo que ha sabido perpetuarse y además con un importante volumen productivo, sacando ya el grupo 5 LP's de estudio en algo más de seis años de vida. Hablamos de power melódico, de corte europeo, que en un inicio fue impulsado por nombres importantes como Roland Grapow o Thomen Stauch. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su segundo LP, "Mirrorworld", de 2016, disco pleno del espiritu de su debut, con la melodía por bandera y la calidad compositiva y productiva como ley, nos dejan temas como su segundo singlem "Castor Skies", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

BURN  IT  DOWN

Si en la anterior entrada hablaba del heavy metal original, el de comienzos de los ochenta, en esta ocasión hablaré de una de esas bandas que apropiandose de aquel espíritu primigenio decidieron aplicarlo conceptualmente al siglo XXI, y claro, para los amantes del sonido clásico dentro del heavy metal la noticia no podría ser mejor, es de hecho, todo un nuevo movimiento que recupera esa esencia dentro de la escena actual, un movimiento no enfocado en una sola nación o escena sino que se trata de algo planetario, y entre ellos están estos "Metalian" desde Canada, como uno de los ejemplos destacados. Como digo todo amante del heavy de la old school gsutará de escuchar a esta banda formada en 2003 y ya con 3 LP's de estudio. Canciones para una vida - Sarcofagus - Envoy Of Death

 

ENVOY  OF  DEATH

Vuelvo al punto de inicio cronológico, al año desde el que en este blog he decidido recopilar nuestro sonido, es decir 1980, un año escogido por el significado que históricamente tuvo desde la perspectiva de la explosión absoluta del heavy metal como sonido reconocido y reconocible que hasta esa década había ido naciendo y desarrollandose y que en la de los ochenta se asentó, se hizo grande y se diversificó en subgéneros definitivamente. Hoy quiero traer al blog a una banda que decidió sacar material ese año, por varios motivos, se trata de "Sarcofagus", uno de los motivos aparte del musical en si mismo evidentemente, es el de su origen, "Finlandia", ya que era por aquellos entonces era la finlandesa una escena poco común, pero al mismo tiempo esto evidenciaba que la extensión del heavy metal era algo a nivel planetario a pesar de que la escena británica y la estadounidense fueran los pilares más evidentes. Otro de los motivos fue la extraña forma de desarrollar su carrera de estos finlandeses, "Sarcofagus", ya que editarían dos discos en ese año 1980, "Cycle of life" y "Envoy of death". Después un largo silencio compositivo hasta 2004 en que retomaron una carrera que en teoría sigue en activo. Hablamos de un sonido muy de esa época, un heavy metal con un cierto toque de la NWOBHM. De su segundo LP, "Envoy of death" quiero dejar en el blog la canción que da nombre a la obra, "Envoy of death" que reafirma mejor que ninguna palabra lo dicho en relación a la explosión planetaria del sonido metálico a comienzos de los ochenta apoyandose en lo que venía sucediendo en la década anterior.

Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - One Against The World

 

ONE  AGAINST  THE  WORLD

A finales de octubre del presente 2020 los suecos Hammerfall, dioses y demonios según el barrio, editaron el que es su segundo LP en vivo oficial de su discografía, "Live against the world" obra que recoge en directo un amplio repertorio clásico de la banda. Desde luego se puede reprochar a la banda muchas cosas, o no, pero lo innegable es la eterna capacidad de llegar a las masas, de vender y saber venderse, y este directo es una confirmación más de lo que digo. Y es que el grupo, después de más de dos décadas a sus espaldas, y con once LP's de estudio siguen con paso firme adelante sin variar un ápice su propuesta, algo que como siempre repito no tiene porqué ser necesariamente malo. Así que hoy, con la excusa del directo de este año quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones del undécimo album de estudio y último hasta la fecha de esta reseña, "Dominion" en concreto "One against the world" usada por la banda como guiño para casi nombrar el directo mencionado, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

GATES  OF  THE  NETHERREALM

Segundo Lp de los alemanes "Terra Atlantica" que han editado este 2020, de título "Age Of Steam" y donde dan continuidad al muy interesante debut de 2017 "The city once divine". Para ser justos con mi sensación inicial, en realidad esperaba un paso más consistente en este segundo LP, y me refiero  no a la contundencia compositiva sino a que se notase más la evolución y asentamiento con respecto al debut. Para nada es que este segundo album resulte ser malo, y posiblemente se trate más de las expectativas que despertó en mí su debut que a otro particular. sea como sea seguimos en esa onda power de corte europeo, con su temática "Steampunk" o retrofuturísta como linea estética y argumental y con buenos momentos musicales como el que hoy quiero dejar en el blog, en esta ocasión en forma de la canción "Gates of the netherrealm" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

SPIRIT  OF  DAEDALUS

Otra banda de esas que tiene por costumbre una continuidad a la hora de editar material de estudio son los alemanes "Freedom Call" que como media suelen tardar poco más de dos años en editar material, lo que podría también hacerles candidatos a mostrar algo nuevo en el entrante 2021. De hacerlo, cosa que no he para nada contrastado, solo a modo de hipótesis, seguro que lo que sacasen sonaría como es costumbre en ellos, puesto que han logrado hacer de su sonido su sello personal, y, personalmente a mi me agrada mucho. A modo de repaso de su últimmo LP editado hasta la fecha, quiero hoy recuperar otro de los temas que lo componen, en concreto "Spirit of Daedalus" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Battle Beast - Piece Of Me

 

PIECE  OF  ME

Si seguimos la progresión histórica de los finlandeses "Battle Beast", en lo que se refiere a la productividad compositiva, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 y 2019, es facil predecir que este próximo año 2021 debería tener muchas papeletas para ver material nuevo de la banda, dicho sea desde el absoluto desconocimiento de sus intenciones reales. Sea como sea, seguro que cuando se decidan a sacar su próximo LP la legión de seguidores aumentará un punto más, y es que, a pesar de los cambios producidos en la banda y ya muchas veces comentados en este blog, Battle Beast ha sabido continuar en esa línea ascendente a nivel internacional. Es siempre pues buen momento para recoger alguno de sus temas pasados, en este caso de su quinto y hasta la fecha de esta reseña, último LP editado, "No more Hollywood Endings" del pasado 2019, con ese toque tan ochentero y un tanto electrónico al tiempo, como queda bien patente en el tema que dejo hoy en el blog, "Piece of me" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crown Of Glory - Make Me Believe

 

MAKE  ME  BELIEVE

Realmente completo este tercer LP de estudio de los suizos "Crown of glory", del presente 2020, y es que ya nos tienen acostumbrados a esa manera de componer obras, en las que parecen premiar más la calidad que la cantidad como indica la relativamente corta discografía para una banda que lleva ya desde 1998 en activo. Estoy seguro de que aquellos que no hayan escuchado nunca hablar de este grupo y que escuchen este "Ad Infinitum" se llevarán una grata sorpresa, sobre todo si gustan del power heavy metal melódico que es el sonido que practican estos chicos. Como digo recomendable la obra en su conjunto y de ella hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Make me believe" un buen ejemplo de lo que se puede esperar de este grupo que debería hacer lo posible por mostrar una mayor continuidad porque calidad les sobra, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Railway - Breakout

 

BREAKOUT

Como siempre desde este blog haré una defensa a ultranza de esa magnífica labor de buscar y buscar, siempre seguir desenterrando pedacitos de historia metálica, por muy diminutos que puedan parecer, por insignificante repercusión y reconocimiento que puedan haber tenido, puesto que sin duda son parte del mapa global metálico que parece ser inabarcable, gracias a Dios. Sea como fuere, la mina por antonomasia a la hora de producir gemas brillantes en mayor o menor medida ha sido siempre la década de los ochenta, y en esas estamos para referirme hoy a una banda alemana de esas que tuvieron una carrera poco reconocida pero en este caso bastante llena y merecedora de algo mejor. Desarrollan su actividad entre los años 1977 y 1995 editando en ese periodo seis LP's y tres EP's. Marcados por idas y venidas de algunos de sus miembros la banda terminó desarrollando un heavy metal muy de su época, muy de su escuela, con guiños al hard 'n heavy, también algo común en ese periodo, y con ese regusto clásico tan honesto y de agradecer a la larga, así, bandas como Krokus, en algún punto Accept, podrían ser espejos en los que quisieron mirarse estos teutones para desarrollar su concepto. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones que componen su tercer LP de estudio, "Climax" de 1987, una de sus obras más completas quizás, con destellos hard un poco a lo Steeler si se quiere, y con temas enganchones como la canción que abre la obra, "Breakout", de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crystal Viper - The Cult

 

 THE  CULT

Ya tenemos a la vista el octavo trabajo de estudio de la banda polaca "Crystal Viper", que en los últimos años parecen haber cogido esa inercia compositiva que les hace sacar un disco cada par de años. En esta ocasión se trata de la obra titulada "The Cult", cuya salida oficial se espera para este ya inminente enero de 2021, y de la que de momento nos adelantan su primer single, que da nombre a la obra, "The cult". Estamos ante paso más en la misma dirección en la que nos tienen acostumbrados estos músicos, con todos los elementos porpios del grupo en los últimos LP's, ese regusto por el heavy metal clásico, con guiño incluido a una versión de una banda clásica, en este caso King Diamond en forma de su "Welcome home", con colaboración incluida de Andy LaRocque, guitarra de King Diamond en dicha canción. Parece que la banda ha encontrado la fórmula en la que se encuentran cómodos y siguen ese rumbo una vez más. Dejo pues en el blog un enlace a youtube de este primer adelanto "The Cult".

Canciones para una vida - Glory Force - Dawn Of Conquest

 

DAWN  OF  CONQUEST

Enigmática banda que en estos días parecen dar los primeros pasos desde el punto de vista de lo compositivo y editado, de su carrera músical, Glory Force, una banda que ha autoproducido de forma digital su primer LP, "The restoration of Etharia" el pasado 30 de octubre. De origen italiano, tampoco en este particular parece ponerse la gente de acuerdo, pero el nombre de sus componentes parece no dejar dudas. En lo relativo a su sonido estamos una vez más ante un power de corte europeo, realmente bastante en la línea de la escuela italiana, con esa vertiente épica, tambié, con arreglos sin llegar a lo recargado de la escuela Rhapsody, pero al mismo tiempo con un aire un tanto germano. Desde luego, y a pesar de no haber inventado nada nuevo, parece que el grupo tiene potencial al menos para intentar buscarse su porpio hueco en la escena, Parecen encaminar su proposito, según sus propias palabras, a defender el verdadero camino del "metal", una historia que ya muchas veces hemos escuchado, pero como digo en lo compositivo hablamos de un power de corte europeo, más allá de su actitud. Canciones para una vida - Hexx - Terror

 

TERROR

Hexx es una banda estadounidense de esas que lleva toda una vida de actividad en esto de la música y cuentan con la particularidad en su carrera de que, si bien ésta no ha sido la más extensa en lo que a productividad se refiere, si que cuenta en su curriculum con cinco LP's y dos EP's habiendo evolucionado su sonido del heavy metal clasicote de sus primeras obras a un progresivo giro al Thrash para avanzar posteriormente al death metal y retornar a sus orígenes en la segunda etapa de actividad de la banda que comprende la segunda mitad de la recién pasada década. Un periplo este, a través de subgéneros que habla de la capacidad compositiva de la banda y que abre más preguntas acerca de su falta de continuidad compositiva. Pero es lo que hay, solo cinco LP's desde 1983 hasta nuestros días. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de los temas que componen su debut bajo el nombre de "Hexx", "No Escape" es la obra del año 1984, en clave de heavy metal de la old school, sin grandes pretensiones, sin descubrir nada, pero si más que interesante y con buenos momentos como el del tema que abre la obra, "Terror", canción de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Resulta ya a estas alturas, todo un seguro de vida el material de estos belgas , "Iron Mask" de los que ya he hablado en varias ocasiones en el blog. Desde luego enmarcamos su sonido en ese power neo clásico que ha ido dando forma a su carrera, de corte europeo indudablemente estamos como digo ante una banda se sabe de memoria lo que quiere hacer, hacia donde quiere llevar su sonido y, siguiendo la línea de toda su carrera lo han conseguido otra vez. Como plus cuenta este "Master of masters" de este 2020 con la colaboración del cantante alemán Oliver Hartmann, ex de At Vance, uno de los grupos impulsores del llamado sonido neoclásico, La obra hará las delicias de los seguidores de la banda, incluso llegando al nivel más alto de lo mostrado por los belgas, y de ella podemos destacar varias de sus canciones, como por ejemplo este "Mist of loch Ness" de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Orden Ogan - Heart Of The Android

 

HEART  OF  THE  ANDROID

Segundo adelanto del que será séptimo album de estudio de los alemanes "Orden Ogan", que ha visto retrasada su fecha de salida desde el noviembre previsto del presente 2020 a la fecha del 12 de marzo del próximo 2021 en relación a los problemas que la banda ha tenido para completar los videoclips y promociones previstas al lanzamiento a causa del coronavirus, (como no). Sea como sea los tiempos se van cumpliendo y la obra parece que va desvelandose, en este caso con este segundo single de "Final Days". Poco que decir en lo musical, sonido marca de la casa que augura una obra más en esa línea ya tan imitada y de contrastada efectividad, su título "Heart of the android", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Niviane - League Of Shadows

 

LEAGUE  OF  SHADOWS

El segundo disco de los estadounidenses "Niviane" ha salido a la venta este pasado 30 de octubre, un paso más en la carrera de esta banda que hace un power metal bastante de corte americano, muy de la escuela a la que pertenecen. Un espejo en el que esta banda podría haber escogido mirarse es indudablemente "Iced Earth", y es un gran ejemplo que seguir, sin embargo parecen ir encontrando su propio camino. Este segundo LP, "The Ruthless Divine" parece un paso más en su carrera, quizá se haga un tanto monótono, pero por otro lado muestra una senda de crecimiento evidente, manteniendo las virtudes de su debut y mostrando una mejoría en otros aspectos, el caso es que los amantes del power americano disfrutarán de esta obra a pesar de no inventar nada nuevo en realidad, eso sí, la producción además acompaña. Quiero dejar hoy en el blog el tema que abre esta segunda obra, todo un tema contundente que muestra sus intenciones, "League Of Shadows", de la que dejo un enlace a Youtube.
