Canciones para una vida - Cruachan - Queen Of War

QUEEN  OF  WAR

2018 fue el año escogido por la banda irlandesa "Cruachan" para publicar "Nine Years Of Blood", octava obra de estudio del grupo. Como siempre, podemos encontrar una mezcla de orientaciones musicales en cada disco de Cruachan, y esta ocasión sigue la misma línea, desde una vertiente más oscura, ya no tan cercana al Black metal como si lo era al inicio de su senda musical, pasando por momentos más melódicos también muchas veces envueltos en un aire folk, naturalmente y atendiendo al origen del grupo, de vocación céltica.Todo ello unido hace de una obra de Cruachan una mezcla perfecta entre una sensación oscurantista y al mismo tiempo fantástica y épica, casi medieval en ocasiones. Canciones para una vida - Veonity - Starborn

STARBORN

 Tercera obra de estudio de los suecos "Veonity", un disco que va completamente en la línea compositiva de su anterior obra "Into the void" de 2016 de la que ya hablé en el blog  Nos encontramos de nuevo ante un disco en clave de power metal, de corte europeo, cuya temática en esta nueva obra parece continuar la idea comenzada en el anterior disco "Into the void", un tanto espacial, adaptada y mezclada en este disco con la temática viquinga, lucha del bien y el mal, tecnología y tradición, todo ello al fin temas que funcionan muy bien por lo general tradicionalmente con el estilo power. Nada nuevo, o demasiado innovador, pero indudablemente bien ejecutado. Canciones para una vida - Avantasia - The Raven Child

THE  RAVEN  CHILD

 Es indudable el poder convocatorio de Tobias Sammet, tanto respecto a lo que a público y profesionales se refiere, es decir, todo lo que lleva su firma hace que la comunidad metálica se gire a mirar al menos, y muchos son los que gustosamente, desde el lado de los profesionales de esto, se presten a colaborar para formar parte del innegable talento que siempre ha mostrado este alemán. Por otra parte no es oro todo lo que reluce, y es indudable igualmente que el material que ha compuesto Tobias para Avantasia ha ido poco a poco volviendose más denso, lo que ha cosechado más críticas que el deslumbrante inicio del proyecto a comienzos de siglo hubiese hecho sospechar. De nuevo, en este ya octavo LP de la banda, vemos colaboraciones de lujo en lo que hace presagiar un paso más en la línea de lo anterior publicado, aunque parece haber menos temas largos en esta nueva obra, pese a que el primer single sea este "The raven child" de más de 11 minutos del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a el blog. Es el tema más largo de la obra y en el aparecen acompañando a Sammet, Hansi Kursh y Jorn Lande, ahí es nada. Canción que nos pone sobre aviso de por donde pueden ir los tiros musicales del nuevo disco y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su Lyric video oficial.

Canciones para una vida - TYR - Fire And Flame

FIRE  AND  FLAME

Finalmente los Feroeses "Tyr" dan un paso al frente tras una larguísima temporada de seis años sin dar señales de vida compositivas, concretamente desde su séptimo trabajo de estudio "Valkyrja" de 2013. Con renovadas fuerzas y en parte alineación de la banda con la salida del batería y el guitarrista parecen ofrecernos un nuevo capítulo en su camino en forma de "Hel", octavo álbum de estudio que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de marzo. Hasta entonces nos dejan su primer adelanto, este "Fire and flame" en que muestran que hay una gran continuidad con lo esperable por parte de la banda, muy en la línea del sonido Tyr, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Beast In Black - Sweet True Lies

SWEET  TRUE  LIES

Desde luego que la figura de Anton Kabanen, guitarrista y alma mater de la banda finlandesa "Beast In Black", hace tiempo que ha dejado de ser una promesa futura para convertirse en referencia oblligada en lo que a buen hacer se refiere. Ahora nos presenta el adelanto de lo que será su segundo larga duración con su banda "Beast in black", como ya he dicho en el blog un grupo que forma tras su salida de Battle Beast no de muy buena maneras, con polémica por el nombre del grupo incluida, todo un clásico en esto de la música. Como digo ahora nos presenta su primer adelanto de "From hell with love" cuya fecha de publicación oficial es este próximo 8 de febrero. En este adelanto Kabanen sigue con la fórmula presentada en su debut, power melódico con un enfoque un tanto electrónico "bailable" de influencia casi ochentera, desde luego muy en la onda de lo que venía haciendo con Battle beast en la parte final de su carrera con ellos. Canciones para una vida - Lux Perpetua - The Legend

THE  LEGEND

Vuelvo a traer al blog a la banda polaca "Lux Perpetua" de cuyo único LP hasta la fecha de esta reseña, "The curse of the iron king" de 2017 ya deje una de sus canciones. Poco más que añadir a lo dicho en la anterior ocasión, disco hecho para los amantes del power de corte clásico y europeo, que creo que tiene como una de sus virtudes la consistencia de la obra, con un tono general de alto nivel, sin rellenos y que resulta ser un buen inicio para la carrera de la banda. Parece que a finales del recién pasado 2018 han editado de forma digital un single, "Husaria" con un tema nuevo, el citado "Husaria" y uno en vivo perteneciente a este su único album hasta la fecha, "The curse of the iron king". En fin, dejo la canción "The legend" hoy en el blog, buen ejemplo de ese alto nivel que toda la obra atesora y que me hará seguir los pasos futuros que dará el grupo. Canciones para una vida - Trollwar - Summoning

SUMMONING

 El pasado noviembre vió la luz el segundo larga duración de la banda canadiense "Trollwar", un grupo que ha editado más material a lo largo de sus ya casi diez años de existencia aunque eso sí, en forma de EP's. Formados en 2011, estos chicos siempre se lo han guisado y comido ellos mismos, auto produciéndose los discos, y una vez más a través de este "Oath of the storm", la banda ha demostrado un sonido más propio de tierras nórdicas europeas que de latitudes americanas, aunque eso es algo cada vez más extendido a lo largo del planeta, realmente la cantera hoy en día puede decirse que es mundial y no sorprende escuchar a bandas "des ubicadas" por su origen y como suenan. Una vez más también nos encontramos ante un grupo que lleva la calidad por estandarte y pasean su death melódico de corte folk con total soltura. Canciones para una vida - Thornbridge - Theatrical Masterpiece

THEATRICAL  MASTERPIECE

Tras la extraordinaria impresión,en el buen sentido, que me lleve con el debut de "Thornbridge" "What will prevail" de 2016, los alemanes vuelven a la carga con su segundo larga duración, "Theatrical Masterpiece" cuya publicación oficial se espera para este próximo 8 de febrero. De momento la banda ha adelantado de la mencionada nueva obra el tema que dará nombre al disco, "Thetrical Masterpiece", y a juzgar por lo escuchado podemos encontrarnos ante una continuación por la buena senda compositiva iniciada en el debut. Como ocurriera en su primera obra, han contado con la ayuda de Seeb Levermann de Orden Ogan en la mezcla y producción de la obra, lo que es un añadido más, siendo la banda exactamente la misma que en su anterior obra, otro punto a su favor. Esta obra nueva pues es una disco que personalmente estoy deseando ya escuchar, y hasta que ese momento llegue quiero dejar en el blog el anteriormente citado adelanto, "Theatrical Masterpiece", del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Euphoreon - Zero Below The Sun

ZERO  BELOW  THE  SUN

Como era de esperar esta segunda obra de "Euphoreon" va revelando sus secretos, poco a poco a medida que lo vas escuchando, y aunque es evidente desde la primera vez que te enfrentas a la obra que estamos ante un gran trabajo, (una vez más), es en la escucha detallada y atenta en la que realmente se le saca todo el valor al disco. Como ya he dicho anteriormente respecto a la banda, por ponerles un pero, sería deseable una mayor continuidad en lo que a editar material se refiere, aunque el importante resultado final quizá justifique un poco la tardanza, sea como fuere, esperemos que el grupo continue por esta misma senda de la calidad durante mucho tiempo para regalarnos más obras del estilo, aunque teniendo en cuenta que parecen haber dejado la banda en un estatus "pausado", y que a pesar del gran resultado que su propia producción de la obra una vez más parece que no hay discográficas dispuestas a apoyar la carrera del grupo, una vez más algo difícil de entender. Canciones para una vida - Sorcerer - Crimson Cross

CRIMSON  CROSS

 Sorcerer es un grupo sueco de esos que han tenidos dos periodos de actividad desde su formación. Nace la banda en 1988, teniendo un primer periodo compositivo corto, de apenas tres años de duración y en el que tan solo grabaron dos demos. Tras ese tiempo, hasta 1991, comienza la ida de alguno de los miembros formadores del grupo lo que terminaría en la separación prematura de Sorcerer. En 2010, tras la edición de las cintas originales demo en formato CD la banda se reforma, aunque tan solo con uno de los miembros originales que la diesen vida casi dos décadas atrás, concretamente Johnny Hagel, bajista. El concepto siempre ha sido más o menos el mismo, un componente épico, con una base encaminada al power pero desde una perspectiva más oscura, desde un punto de vista compositivo "Doom". Desde su reformación han editado dos LP's y un EP, un LP y un EP en 2015 y su segundo LP en 2017, del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, en concreto "Crimson Cross" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Bonfire - Child In Time

CHILD  IN  TIME

Siempre es una buena idea rescatar clásicos de entre los clásicos, y una forma diferente de hacerlo muchas veces es recurrir a una versión de alguna de esas canciones, algo que no deja de ser un homenaje por parte de otra banda, un reconocimiento. Sin duda, en este blog, recurrir al material más mítico de Deep Purple, se queda lejos del rango temporal que abarca, a saber, desde 1980 en adelante, pero, igualmente, una banda como Deep Purple merece por méritos propios que su material aparezca de una forma u otra en un recopilatorio de canciones importantes  en la historia del heavy metal, y al fin y al cabo eso es este humilde blog, un (ya) enorme recopilatorio de enormes canciones. Así pues, aprovechar la ocasión que esta banda, Bofire, me ha brindado este año a través de su disco especial "Legends" en el que hace un recorrido por canciones importantes del rock, heavy y hard rock me parece buena idea. Un disco en que los alemanes parece que tienen la ocasión de presentar en vivo con algunos de los músicos originales de las canciones, lo cual puede sonar un poco a recaudación, porque no. El caso es que hoy quiero dejar en el blog la versión que hacen de una de las canciones que más me gustan de Deep Purple, "Child In Time", originalmente del cuarto LP de los ingleses, de 1970, magníficamente versionada aquí por parte de Bonfire y de la que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Heidra - A Crown Of Five Fingers

A  CROWN  OF  FIVE  FINGERS

A finales de octubre del presente 2018 ha visto la luz el segundo LP de la banda danesa "Heidra", a la que ya me he referido con anterioridad en este blog. A pesar de tratarse de su segundo LP, sin embargo el grupo lleva tras de si una larga trayectoria enmarcada en un sonido folk viking death melódico que en el primer LP, "Awaiting Dawn" de 2014 ya despertase grandes espectativas de lo que podría llegar a conseguir la banda en el futuro. Sin duda este segundo disco de estudio del que hoy dejo un tema en el blog sirve como confirmación de por donde quieren encaminar su carrera los daneses. Puedes escuchar en la música de Heidra muchas reminiscencias a bandas, estilos, desde clásicos a más nuevos, desde death melódico a una base casi power en ocasiones, con coros a veces épicos y otras veces con cambios levemente "progresivos", siempre con la calidad por estandarte y con un buen equilibrio compositivo que les hace bastante completos y sus discos fáciles de disfrutar. Canciones para una vida - Guardians Of Time - Valhalla Awaits

VALHALLA  AWAITS

De nuevo traigo al blog este quinto LP de la banda noruega "Guardians of time", del presente 2018, una de las obras, en mi humilde opinión del citado año, completa y de nivel alto, como por otra parte nos tiene acostumbrados este gran grupo demasiado desconocido a pesar de su calidad y del largo ya periodo de tiempo que llevan en activo, (desde 1997). Para ilustrar ese apelativo de completo, hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de las canciones de la obra, en este caso "Valhalla Awaits", donde la banda hace una pequeña incursión en el concepto death sobre todo en lo vocal aunque con una base power como es su terreno y zona de confort compositiva. Desde luego a las muchas virtudes del grupo si añadimos al versatilidad estaríamos hablando de un ejemplo más de banda en que sus méritos están muy lejos de verse recompensados con el reconocimiento merecido, una vieja historia en esto de la música. Canciones para una vida - Arch Enemy - Reason To Believe

REASON  TO  BELIEVE


Está clarísimo que la banda sueca "Arch Enemy" ha llegado a un punto de su carrera en el que llegan posiblemente a más público que nunca, con un estilo muy propio y definido, abriendo más las puertas a otros posibles seguidores que incluso podrían acercarse al grupo desde gustos como el power incluso. Seguramente los fans iniciales y de siempre de la banda verán esta porgresiva apertura sonora con malos ojos pero muchos otros seguidores se han ido sumando a ese concepto compositivo más para todos los públicos a través de un sonido más comercial si se quiere. Lo que es indudable es el gran resultado final de lo que en la actualidad es una obra de esta banda, como fue el caso de "Will to power", la undécima obra de estudio del grupo editada el pasado 2017, y de la que hoy quiero dejar otro de los temas en el blog, concretamente este "Reason to believe" del que el grupo ha editado recientemente un video clip del que dejo una entrada a youtube hoy en el blog.

Canciones para una vida - Brymir - Ride On, Spirit

RIDE  ON, SPIRIT

 Desde luego parece que el nivel de actividad de la banda finlandesa Brynir ha ido poco a poco en aumento, sin duda teniendo en cuenta lo que tardaron en editar su segunda obra de estudio tras su debut en 2011 con el magnífico "Breathe fire to the sun". Fue 2016 el año escogido para esa reactivación desde la perspectiva de la publicación de material, con dos singles y un LP durante ese 2016, y con dos singles más en este 2018. Igualmente estoy notando una mejora compositiva desde el segundo LP, ya que ambos singles de este año me han dado mejores sensaciones y una cierta vuelta al concepto de su primer LP que, personalmente me encanta. Hoy pues quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a este segundo single del presente 2018, "Ride on, spirit", recién editado, y del que quiero dejar un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.
