CHAPTER  666  (WE  ARE  THE  HAMMER)

Segunda obra de los alemanes Evertale, un disco que he estado esperando con ganas desde la salida de su debut en 2013, el fantástico "Of dragons and elves". Quizá por esa gran espectativa que había puesto en la nueva obra me haya decepcionado un poco, si bien, y para ser justos aún le debo más escuchas al disco. Este "The great brotherwar" me ha parecido un disco en el que el sonido de la banda resulta demasiado plano quizá, no destaca ni varía mucho resultandome un tanto monótono, eso sí, calidad sonora e interpretativa les sobra a estos chicos, es en esta ocasión una cuestión más de composición. Realmente siguen los pasos de su anterior obra que si me pareció fresca y que mostraba un potencial que sin duda el grupo tiene. Una vez más un concepto "Blindguardianesco" sobre vuela toda la obra resultando evidente el influjo que sus compatriotas han ejercido sobre "Evretale". He echado además de menos una pieza lenta - épica tipo "Of dragons and elves" de su primera obra, canción hiper "A past and future secret" de Blind Guardian que en esta ocasión no adornaba la nueva obra. En fin, el caso es que más allá de mis espectativas también encontramos temas que llaman la atención, como este "Chapter 666 (we are the hammer)", segundo single del disco en una onda muy power europeo del que dejo un enlace a youtube a su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Dark Moor - Nevermore

NEVERMORE

Una vez más al referirme a esta banda que ya he traído al blog en alguna otra ocasión lo primero que acude a mi cabeza es que estamos ante una de las mejores bandas españolas del género, power metal de corte europeo, un claro exponente del movimiento que se desarrollo durante la segunda mitad de la década de los noventa y la primera década del presente siglo, y por lo tanto contiene todos los clichés esperados y esperables de una banda de primera linea. Igualmente como sucede en demasiadas ocasiones el reconocimiento que han tenido, (paradójicamente sobre todo en España) siempre ha sido desacorde a la calidad innegable que han tenido a lo largo de toda su carrera que aún continúa tras ya casi 25 años en activo y 10 LP's a fecha de esta reseña. Echando un vistazo a su carrera quiero hoy recuperar un tema de su tercer larga duración, "The gates of oblivion" de 2002, una obra absolutamente hija de su tiempo, en esa onda power que ha caracterizado a muchas bandas de la época y que particularmente en Dark Moor tiene un gusto por el sonido neoclásico tan de la escuela sueca. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog la canción "Nevermore" perteneciente a esta obra, un buen ejemplo de por donde han ido siempre los tiros musicales de este grupo, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Palantir - Kings And Queens

KINGS  AND  QUEENS

 Nueva banda sueca enclavada en el género power metal de escuela claramente europea que desembarca con su primer LP "Lost Between dimensions"editado de forma oficial el pasado 5 de septiembre. Se trata de otro de esos grupos que parece salir de ninguna parte y así, si miramos la procedencia de los miembros que la componen vemos que algunos de sus miembros no parecen tener un currículum reconocible aunque el cantante Markus S. Olkerud ha mostrado ya su buen hacer en bandas suecas tales como Rocke Rollas o Starblind. Sea como fuere son todos nombre bastante desconocidos en general pero que han mostrado un cierto potencial en los trabajos publicados hasta la fecha, teniendo que tener en cuenta que se trata en general de carreras incipientes. Con un estilo como decía al inicio dentro del power europeo, muy de la escuela sueca que ellos mismos denominan como "Interdimensional symphonic power metal", la temática predilecta de la banda parece versar sobre ciencia ficción, y puede apreciarse un ligero toque progresivo con en general una buena composición que hace de la obra un disco agradable a la escucha en su conjunto, más teniendo en cuenta que es su debut. Como ejemplo quiero hoy dejar en el blog un tema de este, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, su único LP, en concreto la canción "Kings and queens" que enseña bien el potencial de este grupo que veremos hasta donde llega.

Canciones para una vida - Thin Lizzy - Killer On The Loose

KILLER  ON  THE  LOOSE

De nuevo quiero hacer referencia a una banda importante de finales de los 70 y comienzos de los 80 para lo que es nuestra escena musical, se trata de los irlandeses Thin Lizzy, hogar musical de Phil Lynott (voz y bajo así como teclados) y durante parte de la carrera de la banda con Gary Moore (un par de años), a la guitarra, quien justamente a partir de este disco buscaría su camino alejado de la banda, este es por tanto el primer LP de Thin Lizzy sin Moore en sus filas tras su entrada, una gran perdida que sin duda tuvo que tener una influencia negativa por el peso de semejante músico que ha tenido suficiente demostración posterior en la escena internacional, aunque claro, la banda se creo y desarrollo gran parte de su carrera sin su figura, el estilo era ya muy definido como para notar la influencia compositiva de Moore, un peso, el compositivo, que siempre recayó sobre Lynott. "Chinatown" es el décimo disco de estudio de Thin Lizzy, que reclutaría a Snowy White para sustituir al enorme Gary Moore en esta obra, según dice la leyenda el guitarrista salió tratando de huir de la espiral de drogas y alcohol en que había caído Lynott y los suyos y terminaría siendo preludio de la separación definitiva de la banda tan solo un par de años después. En lo musical nos encontramos ante una obra no demasiado bien parada entre la crítica general, sin embargo creo que es uno de sus discos más potentes , más heavys, separado un poco de los anteriores discos del grupo en ese sentido, pero sea como sea se trata de un disco que no merece tan mala fama, ni mucho menos, y buen ejemplo son varias de sus canciones, como este "Killer on the loose" del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube.
