TWILIGHT OF THE GODS

ültima obra de los alemanes Blind Guardian, un disco al que reconozco que le debo aún unas cuantas escuchas con detenimiento, pero es uno de esos grupos por los que uno puede apostar un poco a ciegas, seguramente unos discos te llenen más que otros, pero al final la calidad está ahí. Ya nos hemos referido a Blind Guardian antes en este blog, y en general poco hay que decir que ya no se sepa de esta extraordinaria banda alemana, tan solo una breve referencia a su largo historial musical. Blind Guardian se formó en 1984 en Alemania, bajo el nombre de Lucifer's Heritage, con el que funcionaron hasta 1986, en que cambian a Blind Guardian. Los miembros fundadores fueron Hansi Kursch y Andre Olbrich, incorporándose al poco tiempo Thomen Stauch y Marcus Siepen. De ellos solo Thomen Stauch ha dejado la banda en 2005. Algunos otros músicos han pasado por el grupo y grandes colaboraciones como la de Kai Hansen, pero en general Blind Guardian han tenido mucha estabilidad en su formación. Influenciados por la literatura, (sobre todo Tolkien y Stephen King) y el cine, sus letras hacen referencia a esos temas y en ocasiones ayudan a la linea argumental de canciones de la banda o incluso de discos enteros. Tienen ya 10 discos de estudio, a cual mejor, lo que les ha creado un nombre entre los grupos internacionales más respetados dentro de nuestro mundillo. Esta décima obra de estudio comienza con el lanzamiento de su primer single, el "Twilight of the gods" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube. Típico tema de Blind Guardian, con los elementos esperados del grupo. Seguramente no será el tema más representativo de la historia del grupo, pero merece la pena siempre echar un vistazo a lo nuevo de esta buena banda.

Canciones para una vida - Keldian - F.T.L.

F.T.L.

La tercera y de momento última obra de estos noruegos, "Outbound" de 2013. Ya hemos hablado de Keldian antes, todo un soplo de aire fresco en esto del heavy.  Hacen una musica diferente, basada en melodias de sintetizador que le dan un aire electrónico a su música pero con un toque muy épico y tambien muy espacial en algunos de sus temas y con potentes riffs de guitarra, en un power metal muy limpio. Tienen tres discos de estudio, autoproducidos y esto no debe asustarnos pues es una producción muy cuidada que saca un sonido limpisimo. Formados en 2005, este par de noruegos funcionaron bajo el nombre de Keld hasta 2006 en que cambian su nombre a Keldian. Será en 2007 cuando saquen su primer larga duración,  "Heaven's Gate" . Después han sacado otro par de discos, en 2008 y el que hoy nos ocupa en 2013, siempre autoproducidos, y con dificultades económicas para sacarlos adelante. Esta tercera obra la han editado a través de lo que ellos llaman "Contributors", gente anónima que les ha adelantado el dinero de la producción del disco mediante una especie de "pago por adelantado" de su copia, que luego pueden solicitar a la banda, toda una idea en estos tiempos que corren. El disco desde luego merece la pena, y es que este grupo deberia contar con el apoyo de una discográfica porque calidad les sobra. Escoged cualquier tema que sonará bien. Yo quiero dejar un enlace a youtube de su tema "F.T.L.", uno de los mejores del album, y una buena prueba de lo que son capaces de hacer estos chicos.

Canciones para una vida - Freedom Call - Metal Invasion

METAL INVASION

Como ya hemos dicho anteriormente de estos alemanes Freedom Call se forma en 1998 por el bateria Dan Zimmermann (Gamma Ray) y el comositor, teclista, vocalista y técnico de sonido Chris Bay. Ambos llevaban ya una larga relación musical desde 1988 en que habían coincidido en grupos de versiones como China white o Lanzer a lo largo de la década anterior a la formación de Freedom Call. Deciden darse la oportunidad de crear algo propio justo cuando le bateria Dan entra en Gamma Ray. Freedom Call comienza de esta manera y siempre ha sabido rodearse por grandes músicos, aparte de los mencionados Chris y Dan, por ejemplo Sascha Gerstner en las guitarras hasta su entrada en Helloween, o Ilker Ersin al bajo. Freedom Call comienza a grabar discos de estudio en 1999 sacando hasta la fecha de esta reseña 8 discos en total, a cual mejor. Siempre que hablo de Freedom Call digo lo mismo, es una de esas raras bandas de las que puedo decir que me gusta todo su material, creo que no hay ninguna canción que me desagrade. Su Power metal, muy "happy" en muchas ocasiones te pone las pilas pues su composición es muy cuidada y su producción es simplemente perfecta. Hoy dejo en el blog una canción de su tercera obra de estudio "Eternity", de 2002. Se trata de un gran disco, como todos los de su discografía. A nivel de integrantes, justo antes de la salida de este disco dejó la banda Sascha Gerstner en la Guitarra, para pasar a formar parte de Helloween, y fue sustituido por Cedric Dupont, que solo estaría con Freedom Call dos discos, hasta 2005. El disco es espectacular, como digo, y les sirvió para consolidarse definitivamente como grupo y desterrar las ideas de "grupo efimero" o de colaboraciones que siempre habian circulado con él desde su nacimiento. Casi si escogemos una canción al azar de esta obra acertaremos, yo he querido dejar un enlace a youtube de su "Metal invasion", uno de tantos himnos compuestos por este grupazo.

Canciones para una vida - Gary Moore - Murder In The Skies

MURDER IN THE SKIES

Otro clásico en nuestro blog. Ya hemos hablado de este irlandés anteriormente, y como ya dijimos, hablar de Gary Moore es hablar de los inicios de nuestro género, y me estoy refiriendo a los años 70 cuando comienza en la música con bandas como Skid Row, (no confundir con los Skid Row de los 80), o Thin Lizzy con los que colabora fugazmente en dos breves periodos. Desde el comienzo encamina su carrera en solitario, cosa que no resulta extraña si atendemos a la calidad como vocalista y guitarrista, faceta esta última en que no exageraremos si lo tildamos de virtuoso. 20 discos de estudio entre 1973 y 2008 descubren a un músico prolífico que comienza a flirtear con el Blues desde muy pronto pero que ocupará gran parte de sus esfuerzos compositivos a partir de los 90. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una canción de su época inicial, de su sexto disco en solitario, de 1983, en concreto el tema "murder in the skies", donde escuchamos un sonido mucho más heavy que el que le dio fama mundial en los 90. En general, la discografía de Gary Moore tiene para mi gusto la mejor época en los 80, desde su "G-Force" del 80 hasta el "after the war" del 89. Merece la pena meterse en esta época del guitarrista si aun no lo has hecho porque te sorprenderán muchos de sus discos, que han sido influencia para guitarristas de primer orden. Canciones para una vida - Nightwish - The Pharaoh Sails To Orion

THE PHARAOH SAILS TO ORION

Otro de esos grupos a los que su fama les precede, dificil pretender descubrirle a nadie este grupo finlandes, se trata de Nightwish. Una de las bandas más importantes de su país a nivel internacional, no en vano se calcula que han vendido más de 7 millones de copias de sus obras a nivel mundial. Nightwish a sido una de esas bandas que ha abierto camino dentro de un estilo, sobre todo a nivel de interpretación con la cantante Tarja Turunen y su estilo operístico tan imitado por otras bandas. Nightwish se forma en 1996, y han editado hasta la fecha de esta reseña 7 discos de estudio, estando el octavo a punto de ver la luz en apenas unas semanas. Resulta una producción musical un tanto escasa para los años que lleva en marcha y las ventas alcanzadas, pero es que esta banda es una máquina de hacer dinero, con continuas ediciones especiales, con versiones solo instrumentales de los discos oficiales, continuos EP's y singles con temas ineditos o remezclados saben vender su producto muy bien. La calidad de la banda es evidente, y su fama merecida en muchos aspectos, y a pesar de no ser mi grupo predilecto, sobre todo en lo que a la forma de cantar se refiere, si que reconozco que tienen discos de muy buena calidad y canciones espectaculares. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una canción sacada de su época inicial, del disco que más me gusta de la banda, el "Oceanborn" de 1998, su segunda obra de estudio. En ella encontramos grandes temas, no tan arreglados orquestalmente como sucederá más tarde, y en general todos sus temas son buenos haciendolo un disco de esos que uno debe tener original en su estantería, temas como el fantástico "Moondance", o la semiversión de "Snowman" "Sleeping Sun", así como el tema "the pharaoh sails to Orion" del que hoy del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube sirven bien de ejemplo a lo que digo.

Canciones para una vida - Acid - Hooked On Metal

HOOKED ON METAL

Una mirada al pasado, para ver las raices de nuestra musica. Hay dos grupos de más o menos la misma época llamados Acid, uno Aleman (más orientado a hard 'n heavy) con un disco editado en 1989, y el que hoy nos ocupa belga del que quiero traer al blog una canción, un grupo que fue mítico en su país natal, Belgica, en la primera parte de los años ochenta. Esta banda se forma en 1980 y tuvo un periodo de actividad de 5 años, hasta 1985 en que deciden separarse. A pesar de ello, en 2009 editaron un disco en directo de una gira del 84, pero la banda sigue inactiva. Su música estaba influenciada por el sonido NWOBHM, con un toquecito speed, resultando un grupo bastante interesante para descubrirlo. Durante sus años de actividad editaron tres discos de estudio, en 1982, 83 y 85, más un EP editado en 1984. Hoy he querido traer al blog una canción de su primer disco llamado "Acid", de 1982, y de él quiero dejar  la canción "Hooked on metal", uno de sus temas más conocidos, con ese inicio un poco a los Accept del "breaker", y un buen tema para comprobar el potencial que tenian estos chicos encabezados por la vocalista Kate de Lombaert. Canciones para una vida - Orden Ogan - The Battle Of Waterloo

THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO

Hoy traigo al blog la penúltima obra de estos alemanes que se van ganando su propio sitio entre los grandes, disco tras disco, por méritos propios. Son Orden Ogan, de los que ya hemos hablado en el blog. Formados en 1996 comienzan a sacar demos en 1997, pero no será hasta 2004 cuando saquen su primer larga duración Testimonium A.D., toda una declaración de intenciones de lo que llegarían a ser más adelante. En 2008 editan su espectacular segunda obra, "Vale", y desde ese momento todo ha ido a más. El disco que hoy quiero revisar es su "To the end", de 2012, cuarta obra de estudio y una prueba más de que cuando las cosas se hacen bien, el resultado llega. El disco es impecable, con una cuidada composición y un más que efectivo power metal que hace que practicamente todos sus temas suenen bien. En estos días estan de gira por Europa con Hammerfall, presentando su magnífico último disco "Ravenhead" del que hablaremos en breve en este blog, lo que demuestra el nivel que están alcanzando, nivel que actualmente, para mi es superior al de los suecos con quienes comparten cartel en la gira. Por escoger solo una canción me voy a decantar por "The battle of Waterloo", versión de una canción de sus compatriotas Running Wild, que, con el toque a lo Orden Ogan hace que sea un tema alucinante. De todas maneras es un disco en el que zambullirse sin miedo pues la calidad les sobra. dejo un enlace a youtube de este "The Battle Of Waterloo" de Orden Ogan.

Canciones para una vida - Edguy - Judas At The Opera

JUDAS AT THE OPERA

Una vez más este quinteto alemán en nuestro blog. Ya hemos hablado un poquito de su historia aquí y, como ya hemos dicho, Edguy nace a comienzos de los noventa viendo realizadas sus primeras demos en 1994. Desde 1995 comenzaron su aventura con discos de estudio y desde entonces han sacado 11 discos de un power metal de impecable factura. En el momento del surgimiento de la banda los chicos aún estaban en el instituto y contaban con apenas 15 años y quizás por ello tengan ese toque irreverente que se les nota en muchas ocasiones en sus letras y sobre todo en sus videoclips. De hecho, el nombre de la banda surgió cuando, allá por 1992 cuatro estudiantes de bachillerato de apenas catorce años que se burlaban de su estirado profesor de matemáticas, el profesor Edgar Zimmerer, variando el nombre del profesor "Edgar" a "Edguy". Como ya hemos dicho, el alma mater del grupo es sin duda Tobias Sammet cuyas señas de identidad musicales bien podrian ser ese toque "gamberro" y la facilidad para encontrar colaboraciones con cualquier músico, incluso aunque este hubiese jurado y perjurado no volver a tocar Heavy, (caso de Michael Kiske). Pues bien, ese par de rasgos musicales de Tobias se ven perfectamente reflejados en esta obra. Para el lado gamberro basta con ver la portada de este EP que hoy dejo en el blog. Se trata de "Superheroes", un EP sacado en 2005, justo antes de que saliese el septimo disco de Edguy, titulado "Rocket ride" en 2006. Para el lado "colaborador" basta con escuchar este tema que dejo en el blog, perteneciente a este EP, se trata de la espectacular canción "Judas at the opera", en la que canta con Michel Kiske, es decir, no solo le hizo volver a cantar heavy de primer nivel con los dos primeros discos Avantasia, sino que además lo logro también en este gran tema de Edguy, del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Todo un caracter este Tobias Sammet.

Canciones para una vida - Sonata Arctica - Fullmoon

FULLMOON

Sonata Arctica es uno de esos grupos que mueven a una legión de seguidores tras ellos, y es normal viendo la calidad de alguna de sus obras. Al hablar de estos finlandeses, siempre se recurre al primer disco, como punto comparativo de su obra, y eso también es normal, aunque en ocasiones pueda resultar injusto, pero es que una obra de semejante calibre es algo dificil de igualar, incluso para ellos, y eso en un grupo puede resultar una pesada losa para toda una carrera. Para mi gusto es un poco lo que les ha sucedido a Sonata Arctica, ya que el éxito les llego en este su primer disco, inmediatamente, y el nivel en él demostrado ha sido muy dificil de mantener. Si a esto añadimos la continua experimentación que parecen buscar con su sonido estos músicos, se entiende que, partiendo de la extraordinaria calidad que atesoran, vayan cosechando tanto apasionados defensores de su música como vehementes detractores de la misma. Yo, sinceramente no se que posición tomar, aunque con los ultimos acontecimientos musicales en su carrera me temo que se me esta agotando la paciencia musical con ellos. Pero hoy quiero hacer referencia a la parte inicial de su carrera, y a su irrepetible "Ecliptica" de 1999, su primer larga duración. Sonata Arctica se forma en 1996, bajo el nombre de "Tricky Beans", haciendo una musica en onda Hardrock - Pop, grabando solo un puñado de canciones. En 1999, con un estilo ya más influenciado por el power metal de grupos como "Stratovarius" cambian su nombre a "Sonata Arctica", editando su primer single "Unopened" que al instante les dio grandisimas críticas y muchas oportunidades, preludio de lo que sería su "Ecliptica", salido ese mismo año. En seguida se vio lo que sería la carrera de Sonata Arctica, con continuos EP's, singles y recopilaciones, asi como directos. Desde luego han sido siempre un buen negocio, y han sabido venderse fenomenalmente bien siendo una buena máquina de hacer dinero, dicho sea sin malicia, me parece perfecto mientras se responda con discos de calidad, el problema viene cuando tu material no responde a las expectativas creadas. 8 discos de estudio han visto la luz bajo el nombre de Sonata Arctica, así como 4 EP's. Como decía antes, hoy quiero traer al blog su primer disco, el irrepetible "Ecliptica", un rotundo éxito a nivel mundial, y por motivos evidentes, las canciones a escoger, todas, dificil decidirse por una. Yo dejare hoy un enlace a uno de sus temas más aclamados en directo, su "Fullmoon", que representa bien el espiritu del disco, y del sonido de la parte inicial de la carrera de estos chicos. Canciones para una vida - Saxon - Solid Ball Of Rock

SOLID BALL OF ROCK

Aqui traemos de nuevo al blog a esta banda británica de importancia para el desarrollo de la NWOBHM, se trata de Saxon. A pesar de no haber llegado a la importancia mediatica de bandas británicas  posteriores o coetaneas a ellos como Iron Maiden o Judas Priest, la influencia que Saxon a dejado en muchos grupos posteriores ha sido grande, y sus cifras de venta asi lo atestiguan ya que hasta 2013 se estima que han vendido más de 13 millones de discos a nivel mundial. Ya hemos hablado de su historia en anteriores entradas,  son una banda que lleva en activo bajo el nombre de Saxon desde 1978 y que cuentan con nada menos que 20 discos de estudio a sus espaldas. A mediados de los 80 comienzan a flirtear con un sonido mas Glam, hard rock, para intentar el asalto al mercado estadounidense que siempre se les había resistido. En los noventa vuelven a su sonido más heavy, pero en general siempre ha sido un grupo con un sonido muy concreto aunque sin miedo a reinventarse, y la prueba puede estar en los últimos 3 o 4 discos en que han adoptado un sonido mucho más power metal e incluso con ciertos toques sinfónicos. Pues hoy dejo una canción en el blog de esa época tras su flirteo con el sonido más americano en su intento de abrirse aquel mercado, cosa que jamás llegaron a hacer del todo. El disco "Solid ball of rock", de 1990, su ya 10ª obra de estudio, si bien era un paso para volver a sus raices en lo que a sonido se refiere, aun destilaba ese guiño americano que ultimamente habían afrontado, muy en la onda del sonido que mandaba en esa época por otra parte. Es un gran disco en general, con temas extraordinarios como "Requiem (We Will Remember)", "Altar of the Gods", o este "Solid ball of rock", homónimo al disco, y del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Judas Priest - Thunder Road

THUNDER ROAD

De nuevo estos "Metal Gods" británicos en nuestro blog, con uno de sus discos digamos de una época ya intermedia aunque cercana a sus inicios, sobre todo en su sonido. Se trata de su séptima obra de estudio "Point of Entry" de 1981, con un sonido al más puro estilo clásico de los Judas. Junto con su anterior "British Steel", este "Point of Entry" es un disco de los que les consagró definitivamente dentro del estilo, abriendoles las puertas de Estados Unidos y Canada y terminando de asentarlos en Europa, aunque ese mercado ya lo tenían bastante ganado a estas alturas. El disco está lleno de grandes canciones, aunque el tema que hoy dejo en el blog es un bonus track incluido en una edición posterior, concretamente incluida en la remasterización de sus clásicos sacados en una colección de 12 cd's en una caja, de 2001, aunque la grabaciòn original es de 1987 y la composición es de la época del "Point of entry" aproximadamente de 1981. El sonido de esta canción es por lo tanto acorde perfectamente a lo que encontramos en este disco, razón, imagino, por la que se ha metido como bonus en este disco. Canciones para una vida - Running Wild - Bloody Red Rose

BLOODY RED ROSE

Una nueva canción de este grupazo aleman del que ya hemos hablado en este blog, y sin duda seguiremos haciendolo. Como ya hemos dicho antes, Running Wild con 16 discos de estudio a sus espaldas han sido los pioneros del llamado pirate metal, estilo que ha tenido algunas bandas que han tomado despues como referencia. Formados en 1976, Running Wild comenzaron bajo el nombre de Granite Heart, cambiando un año después su nombre a Running Wild. Este "Blazon Stone" del que hoy quiero extraer una canción, es su 6ª obra de estudio, de 1991, que pertenece a una periodo de la banda de completa estabilidad musical, ya que tras sus tres primeras obras en que iban buscando su propio sonido, desde el tercer disco en adelante la temática conductual de sus obras se volvio mucho mas clara y asi sus discos han tenido siempre, desde ese momento en adelante, una fuente histórica de la que beber. El disco que nos ocupa, "Blazon Stone" nos muestra a unos Running Wild con un sonido ya muy terminado, muy marca de la casa, sonido que ya no abandonarán en el resto de su discografía. Muchos temas se pueden extraer de esta obra pero me voy a decantar por su "Bloody Red Rose", una canción que me gusta mucho, cuya letra habla de la guerra de las dos rosas, que enfrento en el siglo XV a dos familias, los Lancaster y los York por el trono de Inglaterra. Canciones para una vida - Ensiferum - Victory Song

VICTORY SONG

Otra de las obras del genial grupo finlandes Ensiferum, su tercer larga duración, del año 2007, un regalo para los oidos. Se trata del primer disco LP con Petri Lidroos a la voz, aunque no la primera obra de estudio ya que primero grabó el EP "Dragonheads" del que ya hemos hablado aquí, y que sacaron en 2006. Como ya hemos dicho en otras entradas de Ensiferum, los dos primeros discos de estudio tenian al genial Jari Maempaa a la voz, (Ensiferum de 2001 y Iron de 2004), momento en que deja la banda para crear la también magnifica Wintersun, de la que ya hemos hablado. A partir de 2004 , Ensiferum se hace con los servicios de Petri Lidroos, que realizaba esa función de vocalista en Norther, grupo al que también haremos referencia en este blog. El disco es simplemente impresionante, con una sucesión de canciones espectacular que culmina en un tema de casi 11 minutos que es el que precisamente quiero dejar hoy en el blog. Lejos de pensar que se puede hacer largo, es más bien al contrario, se trata de un tema enorme, de cuidada composición, que te lleva a través de fases musicales que van desde interludios tranquilos a epicos pasajes de coros  con aire de batalla, sello inconfundible de esta banda. El grupo está a punto de sacar material nuevo y hasta ese momento, en que sin duda volveremos a ellos dejo un enlace a youtube de este temazo de su tercera obra "Victory songs",  de 2007, la alucinante "Victory Song".

Canciones para una vida - Accept - Protectors Of Terror

PROTECTORS OF TERROR

Un grupo de los fundamentales en esto del heavy, probablemente uno de los primeros grandes grupos alemanes junto con Scorpions, se trata de Accept. La banda se forma en 1968 pero funciona en la escena underground alemana durante al menos 8 años hasta que sacan la cabeza. Durante todo ese tiempo fueron conocidos como "Band X",  fundada por Udo Dirkscheneider a la voz, Michael Wagener a la guitarra y Dieter Rubach al bajo. Este grupo ha estado siempre marcado por constantes idas y venidas de sus componentes y por cambios continuos de formación. Así, ya en 1976, Udo cambia el nombre a la banda pasando a llamarse Accept y además sustituye a l bajo y al guitarra por Peter Baltes y Wolf Hoffmann respectivamente, este último pieza clave en el sonido Accept a lo largo de toda su carrera. Accept graba su primer material titulado "Accept" en 1979, y desde entonces 14 discos de estudio más 5 EP's han visto la luz. a pesar de ser una cantidad respetable se antoja algo corta la producción musical pero hemos de tener en cuenta que se trata de una banda que se ha enfrentado a tres reuniones y a una enorme inestabilidad, lo que les da un mérito grande al seguir en activo. Su primer disco en estudio no les da el éxito esperado aun recibiendo buenas críticas. En 1980 sacan su segunda obra, "I'm a rebel" (un discazo para mi), y con ella ya empiezan a consechar seguidores dentro y fuera de Europa, lo que se verá incrementado con la salida del "Breaker" (Obra mestra) de 1981, que les lleva a una gira mundial con Judas Priest, que les consolida definitivamente. El grupo sigue en onda ascendente hasta 1987 sacando obras de la categoria de "Fast as a shark" en el 82, "Balls to the wall" en el 83, "Metal heart" en el 85 o "Russian Roulette" en el 87, pero desde este 1987 Udo comienza su carrera en solitario que le lleva por vez primera fuera de Accept. En 1989 Accept saca una obra con David Reece a la voz, "Eat the heat",  que aunque es un discazo, es un giro hacia un sonido más americano, más hard rock que deja a gran parte de sus seguidores insatisfechos, preludio de la primera de las separaciones de Accept. Cuatro años más tarde la banda decide reunirse con su formación clásica con la aclamación popular por parte de sus seguidores, sacando el "Objection Overruled", de 1993, el primer disco de la segunda época de Accept que duraría solo 5 años y tres discos, casualmente el mismo tiempo que la inactividad de UDO en solitario. Pues hoy, es de este disco del que quiero sacar un tema que dejar en el blog, se trata de la canción "protectors of terror", un gran tema para abrir boca en la buena discografía de este grupazo, al que volveremos más adelante en este blog. Canciones para una vida - Yngwie Malmsteen - Queen In love

QUEEN IN LOVE

De nuevo el virtuoso sueco de la guitarra Yngwie J. Malmsteen en nuestro blog. Ya hemos dicho en alguna otra entrada de este músico que es una de las mayores influencias del subgénero Neoclassical metal, y uno de los primeros del Shred, que se refiere al subgénero que en el Heavy Metal habla de una  ejecución en guitarra de piezas con un alto nivel de complejidad, muy técnicos y a alta velocidad. Yngwie se ve influido desde chaval por la música de Ritchie Blackmore y la música clásica. Comienza su andadura musical formando dos grupos, Steeler (Estados Unidos) en primer lugar, al que no hay que confundir con Steeler (Alemania), en el que militó en sus inicios Axel Rudi Pell. Con Steeler (USA), Yngwie graba un solo LP en 1983 y pasa a formar Alkatrazz, con quienes graba otro, también en 1983 y donde comienza a aproximarse a un estilo más propio. Pronto decide comenzar su carrera en solitario y así en 1984 saca su primer disco de estudio bajo el nombre de Yngwie Malmsteen. Desde entonces 18 discos han visto la luz. Hoy quiero referirme a su tercera obra de estudio como músico en solitario, el "Trilogy" de 1986, una obra francamente buena y la que a mi personalmente más me gusta de este músico, sin duda. Su música muchas veces resulta demasiado compleja para oídos inexpertos o no acostumbrados, con una excesiva preocupación por demostrar su virtuosismo en solos hiper rápidos que le hacen en ocasiones perder incluso el sentido musical, sin embargo, el disco que nos ocupa hoy es, posiblemente, el más accesible en este sentido, las canciones tienen un corte más clásico y su sonido quizás un heavy metal más fácil, aunque si que contiene alguna pieza para el lucimiento personal, el disco tiene en general un aire más de heavy metal ochentero. Así, temas como "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget", o "Queen in love" se han convertido en clásicos del músico. La genial "Queen in love", es uno de los temas que más me gustan de un disco que por otra parte tiene solo buenos temas en humilde opinión y será la canción de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.
