I WANT OUT

Uno de los grandes entre los grandes en uno de sus mejores discos. Esta banda alemana cambió la escena musical de nuestro género, y buena parte de la culpa fue de este Keeper of the seven Keys part 2 y del anterior, la parte 1. Un disco simplemente perfecto de comienzo a fin, del que poco voy a decir que ya no sepais. Helloween se formaron en Hamburgo bajo el nombre de Gentry en 1978 y tras varios cambios de nombre adoptaron Helloween en 1984 bajo el que han sacado a la luz 16 discos de estudio. Marcado por las idas y venidas de iconos de nuestra musica como frontman de la banda se puede separar su carrera mirando a sus vocalistas, los Helloween de Kiske y los de Deris, ambas épocas espectaculares. Yo personalmente tengo debilidad por la primera época por muchos motivos, Kai Hansen a la guitarra y la portentosa voz de Kiske añadido a la impresionante composición de los Keeper hacen que sea irrepetible, aunque eso si, sin desmerecer la posterior formación con Andi Deris que venía de Pink Cream 69 a partir del 94. Una banda de leyenda que sigue sacando importantes obras como su ultimo disco straight out of hell de impecable factura. He querido escoger un icono de su musica, la canción I want out de 1988 porque es necesario por su calidad, importancia y por el sentimiento que aun sigue despertando en mi tras cientos de escuchas a lo largo de mi vida... no podía no estar. Canciones para una vida - In Legend - Pandemonium

PANDEMONIUM

In Legend es un proyecto de Bastian Emig, el bateria del grupo Van Canto, el famoso grupo de heavy "a Cappella", y con esta producción de 2011 nos sorprendió con un increible disco que merece la pena pararse a escuchar y no solo por su originalidad, que la tiene, sino además por su calidad compositiva que le sobra. Los alemanes nos dejan un disco en la linea de Van Canto en cuanto a que no se escucha ni una sola guitarra a lo largo de todo el disco, pero si con eso piensas que esto no va a sonar heavy, que equivocado estas, se trata de composiciones muy cuidadas y para mi gusto muy superiores al sonido de su banda madre Van Canto. Tenía que escoger la canción posiblemente más emblemática de su unico disco de estudio hasta la fecha, que no es otra que Pandemonium, un derroche de creatividad en mi humilde opinión, espero que os guste tanto como a mi. Canciones para una vida - Running Wild - Detonator

DETONATOR

Otra gran banda Alemana de las que llevan unas cuantas décadas sobre los escenarios, se trata de los increibles Running Wild, con 16 discos de estudio a sus espaldas han sido los pioneros del llamado pirate metal, estilo que ha tenido algunas bandas que han tomado despues como referencia, ultimamente casos tan destacables como Alestorm con un toque mucho más folk o Blazon Stone que ya desde su nombre descaradamente enseñan sus influencias y que han sacado un buen disco recientemente. Formados en 1976, Running Wild comenzaron bajo el nombre de Granite Heart, cambiando un año después su nombre a Running Wild. He querido escoger una canción, (cosa realmente dificil ya que es uno de esos grupos que como te gusten, te gustan, pero todas sus canciones), del decimotercer disco de estudio, The Brotherhood de 2002, un tema llamado Detonator, lleno de energia, de esos que te ponen las pilas, con esos riffs tan enganchones y tan tipicos de esta excelente banda, para mi una de las mejores sin duda. Canciones para una vida - Sonata Arctica - Alone in Heaven

ALONE IN HEAVEN

Cuando debutaron en 1999 con su álbum Eclíptica causaron un alubión de buenas críticas y se pusieron a sí mismos un listón que para muchos no han vuelto a alcanzar y que les siguen exigiendo disco tras disco. Conocedores de ello, estos finlandeses han decidido reinventarse con cada nuevo disco, de tal modo que nunca sabes con qué te vas a encontrar cada vez que sacan algo nuevo: si con un trallazo de energía que te entra directo desde la primera escucha o con un álbum más conceptual que a veces no sabes por dónde agarrar y a más de uno nos deja tan fríos como la tierra de la que proceden.

Aún así son un grupo al que siempre regreso, y que tiene discos como este Stone Grows Her Name de 2012 que, no sin precisar varias escuchas, me entró y me gusta volver a escuchar de vez en cuando. Aquí os dejo una canción con mucho sentimiento, un poco coñera también, y que, pudiendo parecer una balada, tiene unos cambios de ritmo y una potencia por momentos que me encanta.

Canciones para una vida - Metallica - Master of puppets

MASTER OF PUPPETS

Formados en 1981, Metallica es otro de esos grupos que no necesita presentación alguna, tras once discos de estudio y tras ser una de las bandas que más discos han vendido dentro de nuestro género pues se estima que han vendido más de 100 millones de copias en total, poco mas hay que añadir. Los Americanos se sacaron de la chistera este Master of puppets en 1986 su tercer disco de estudio y la calidad del disco es total, y he escogido la canción homónima por ser una de las primeras que escuche en mi vida de la banda y que me dejó con la boca abierta. He de reconocer que desde el disco Metallica (Negro) de 1991 la verdad es que para mi han perdido mucho y en mi humilde opinion se han echado a perder, pero aun estando de acuerdo conmigo o no, tengo yo que reconocer el quinteto de obras maestras que sacaron al comienzo de su carrera. Canciones para una vida - Eluveitie - Inis Mona

INIS MONA

Los suizos Eluveitie son uno de esos grupos que merece la pena escuchar. Se formaron en 2002 y su primer disco vio la luz en 2006 y aunque no sea demasiado tiempo entre tanto se han sacado 5 discos de estudio del que yo destacaría el segundo, Slania de 2008. Es un disco muy completo del que pueden recomendarse muchas canciones y no podía no hablar de su himno Inis Mona, una canción perfecta. Esta banda alterna voces limpias con black femeninas y masculinas y acompañan los elementos clásicos del Heavy con instrumentos tradicionales que hacen tan propio su sonido. Aunque personalmente sus ultimos trabajos me parecen algo mas flojillos siempre hay que dar una escucha a todo su material porque calidad tienen muchísima y además en estos días esta a punto de salir su último trabajo, lo que será su sexto disco de estudio llamado Origins. Canciones para una vida - Saxon - Broken Heroes

BROKEN HEROES

Otro clásico entre el heavy metal, los britanicos Saxon, una banda que lleva en activo bajo el nombre de Saxon desde 1977 y que cuentan con nada menos que 20 discos de estudio a sus espaldas, entre su discografía encontramos autenticos himnos de nuestra musica y es una importante pieza dentro de la historia del heavy. Dificil escoger una canción de esta banda aunque he querido coger un tema del Innocence is no excuse, un clásico aunque en una onda medio tiempo. Broken Heroes es del año 1985 y su sonido clásico nos lleva a esa época en una canción que a mi me gusta mucho, tendremos que volver alguna vez más a este grupo en este blog pues como digo es dificil escoger solo una canción entre su extensisima discografía. Canciones para una vida - Brymir - In Silence

IN SILENCE

Joven banda finlandesa en la linea de Ensiferum. Brymir surgió de hecho como una banda que hacia versiones de grandes grupos en su país natal, haciendose llamar en un principio Lai Lai Hey, como la buena canción de Ensiferum lo que confirma la inegable influencia de sus compatriotas en su musica, y efectivamente eso es lo que os encontrareis si os acercais a su Breathe fire to the sun, de 2011, un disco de buena factura y con grandes canciones, se les nota la calidad a estos chicos ya que como digo este es su primer disco de estudio y si siguen esta linea antes o despues darán el salto. Quiero recomendar la canción In Silence que a mi personalmente me encanta, un gran tema que da clara muestra de la valia de Brymir que desde hace ya unos meses nos dejan la promesa en su web de la inminente realización de su segunda obra de estudio que yo espero ya con impaciencia. Canciones para una vida - Keldian - God of war

GOD OF WAR

Este grupo tan desconocido como bueno esta formado por tan solo dos componentes y lleva en activo desde 2005. Los noruegos Keldian hacen una musica diferente, basada en melodias de sintetizador que le dan un aire electronico a su musica pero con un toque muy epico y tambien muy espacial en algunos de sus temas y con potentes riffs de guitarra, en un power metal muy limpio. Tienen tres discos de estudio, autoproducidos y esto no debe asustarnos pues es una producción muy cuidada que saca un sonido limpisimo. Muy enganchones, con un estilo muy propio que para mi gusto cuando llegue a mas público debería ser reconocido en lo que vale. La canción que hoy os propongo es God of war, un tema perteneciente a su segundo disco Journey of souls de 2008, uno de los temas que más me gustan aunque es una de esas bandas más que de una canción de un disco entero, vamos que encontrareis muchas joyas entre su discografía. Canciones para una vida - Iron Maiden - Flash of the Blade

FLASH OF THE BLADE

Bueno, en este blog evidentemente también tienen cabida los clásicos, y quien mejor que los Britanicos Iron Maiden para representarlos. No diré nada para descubrirlos por supuesto, que podria decir que ya no sepais, en fin una banda con 15 discos de estudio a sus espaldas y un recorrido desde 1975 hasta nuestros dias y con más de 85 millones de discos vendidos hasta el año 2010 no necesita más avales. He querido rescatar uno de sus disco insignia, el powerslave de 1984, uno de mis favoritos y os aconsejaré  una de sus canciones no tan recurrentes, es le Flash of the blade, un tema en el que Bruce Dickinson se muestra impresionante para mi humilde opinión y que para mi es uno de mis temas favoritos dentro de la discografía de los Maiden. Todo el disco es una obra maestra que contribuyo a la revolución que se produjo a principios de los ochenta en esta nuestra sagrada musica. Canciones para una vida - Sabaton - To hell and back

TO HELL AND BACK

Hoy quiero hablar de un grupo extraordinario, los increibles Sabaton, una banda sueca con ya siete discos de estudio a sus espaldas de gran calidad y en concreto me referiré al single de adelanto de lo que a fecha de esta reseña es lo ultimo que han sacado. Pertenece al disco Heroes, como digo de 2014 y en esta canción encontramos todos los elementos que caracterizan a esta banda, con increibles melodias y un contundente power metal, y con otra de sus caracteristicas letras en sus canciones que se refieren a contiendas belicas, sobre todo las dos grandes guerras. A lo largo de su discografia encontrareis temas probablemente mejores que este, y eso no es porque este sea malo ni mucho menos, es que su capacidad compositiva parece no tener limites pero he querido proponeros este tema también por ser nuevo, recien salido y desde luego enganchón, para amantes de las melodias que se quedan a la primera en la cabeza aqui dejo este To hell and back. DESTINY OF WAR

En este blog no solo hablaremos de una sola variante del heavy metal, o de cosas nuevas o no demasiado viejas, trataremos de hablar solo de lo que nos motiva, independientemente de su estilo o de su año de creación, y hoy quiero recuperar un disco de 1989, de los alemanes Attack, una banda de esas que no son demasiado conocidas a pesar de contar con cinco discos de estudio a sus espaldas,entre los años 1984 y 1995. Se trata de un Heavy-power metal solo que de la vieja escuela, sin duda el sonido nos sonara a eso, a la vieja escuela pero es enganchón, a lo largo de sus discos encontrareis buenas canciones que merecen una oportunidad. Aqui os dejo mi recuerdo para esta buena banda con su canción Destiny of war, de 1989, un medio tiempo con ese regusto del heavy ochentero con ciertos tintes epicos, dentro de su casi homonimo disco Destinies of war. ANGUS McFIFE

Otro grupo nuevo como tal aunque con musicos de contrastada calidad. Gloryhammer es un proyecto del cantante, compositor y teclista de la banda escocesa Alestorm, un proyecto encaminado mas hacia el power metal saliendose del sonido folk pirata de su banda madre y acercandose para mi gusto al sonido de discos como el primero en solitario de Luca Turilli que tendrá cabida seguro algun día en esta lista de reseñas de canciones extraordinarias para nuestro gusto. Este Tales from the kingdom of Fife de los escoceses Gloryhammer es un disco que sin duda no ha inventado nada nuevo, pero desde luego su factura es impecable y la calidad compositiva e instrumental no se puede negar. Esta canción Angus McFife fue el single de lanzamiento y es un tema con mucho filo que enseguida se queda en la cabeza, una buena canción de un buen disco en general del que podreis sacar mas buenos temas sin esforzaros mucho. El disco fue editado en 2013 y merece la pena acercarse a él. Dejo un enlace a Youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Fangorn - The Sword of Discord (The First Sword)

THE SWORD OF DISCORD (THE FIRST SWORD)

Hoy quiero hablaros de una buena banda Rusa, con tan solo dos discos a sus espaldas pero de calidad muy considerable, se trata de Fangorn. Ya desde que leemos su nombre nos podemos hacer una idea de que puede ir su música, pues como muchos sabreis Fangorn es un bosque dentro de la mitologia Tolkien, toda una declaración de intenciones por parte de la banda rusa. Como digo cuentan con solo dos discos de estudio, 2010 y 2012 y ambos son de gran calidad. Esta canción que quiero destacar pertenece al segundo, Where the tales live on. Una banda Fangorn que puede guardar una cierta similitud con bandas como Ensiferum aunque no espereis encontrar un sonido clónico a los finlandeses, Fangorn tiene una personalidad muy marcada y es de agradecer, alternan voces claras y balck con gran acierto y la melodia y los coros abundan y agradan, al menos a mi oido. Espero que sigan por esta linea y al final darán que hablar. Muy recomendable, si no los conoces dales una oportunidad, encontrarás muchas buenas canciones en sus discos. Dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Lost Horizon - Welcome Back

WELCOME BACK

 Hoy tengo que referirme a otro de esos grupos que podrían haber sido de los más grandes para mi gusto, los suecos Lost Horizon, una impresionante banda que estuvo activa entre los años 2000 y 2003 en que sacaron su segundo y por desgracia último album. Las canciones son espectaculares en ambos discos, por calidad dificil escoger entre uno de ellos, y lo mismo sucede con las canciones, discos perfectos a nivel compositivo y técnico con la portentosa voz de  Daniel Heiman que despues del "A flame to the ground Beneath" dejaria la banda junto con Fredrik Olsson para formar Heed, nombre bajo el que sacaron un solo disco que sin ser malo ni mucho menos y con algun tema memorable no se acerca a lo que fue Lost Horizon, en fin, una gran canción este Welcome Back del Awakening the world de 2001 aunque como digo podríais escoger casi cualquiera de los dos disco y acertaríais. MIRROR MIRROR

No podía dejar escapar la oportunidad de empezar con mi grupo fetiche cantando a mi escritor favorito.

En 1998 los alemanes dedicaron un disco entero a la obra de J.R.R. Tolkien El Silmarillion. Con Nightfall in Middle Earth Blind Guardian cumplen su tributo a Tolkien creando un disco más melódico que los anteriores, si bien no falto de canciones potentes como esta, donde la batería de Thomen Stauch destaca para crear una atmósfera digna de la historia de la búsqueda de los Silmarils robados por Melkor.

Canciones para una vida - Crom - Unchain The Hero

UNCHAIN THE HERO

Para hoy una canción de uno de esos grupos demasiado poco conocidos para la impresionante calidad que atesoran, se trata de la banda alemana Crom, un proyecto de un solo hombre, Walter "Crom" Grosse que tras varias Demos entre el año 2000 y 2006 sorprendio con este excelente album en 2008. Cuenta con otro disco posterior que siendo un buen disco para mi gusto solo se acerca un poco a esta joya llamada Vengeance. La canción que he querido escoger es Unchain the hero, por escoger solo una pues se trata de un disco espectacular del que todos los temas son dignos de mención, merece la pena tener este discazo original bien guardado en nuestra estanteria pues se trata de una obra maestra a mi entender. Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody - Rage of the winter

RAGE OF THE WINTER

Para hoy una canción de un disco antológico, los italianos Rhapsody, posteriormente llamados Rhapsody of Fire por cuestiones de derechos de autor, editaron una obra maestra en 1997 de la que se podria escoger cualquier canción pero yo me quiero quedar con el tema Rage of the winter. 10 son los álbumes que llevan a sus espaldas y el Legendary Tales del que sacamos esta canción es el primero de ellos y a mi juicio el mejor, derrocha originalidad y epicidad y su melodia compositiva esta mas repartida entre teclados y guitarra sin abusar tanto de orquestaciones como en posteriores trabajos. Un diez para mi, unos de los discos de mi vida y esta una de las canciones que mas me llenan, (por elegir solo una). Dejo un enlace a youtube.

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE

Hoy quiero recomendar una canción clásica de los alemanes Scanner, una buena banda con cinco discos a sus espaldas y que se mantuvo desde 1986 a 2002 en que sacaron su último disco llamado Scantropolis. El Hypertrace al que pertenece la canción que os quiero recomendar es a mi juicio su mejor disco y esta canción, Across the Universe, para mi una de las mejores. Es del año 1988 con un ambiente espacial como podeis imaginar por el titulo, muy novedoso en la tematica y sonido para la época, una genial canción que hay que escuchar, y que para mi forma parte de la banda sonora de mi vida. Canciones Para Una Vida - Ensiferum - In My Sword I Trust

IN MY SWORD I TRUST

La primera de las canciones que quiero recomendar en nuestro blog tenia que ser de este grupo , sin duda uno de mis favoritos. Es una canción del disco Unsung heroes, de esta buena banda finlandesa, un himno que no puede faltar para los amantes del genero, y una buena canción para descubrir al grupo si aun no lo has hecho. El disco es del año 2012, hasta la fecha de publicación de esta reseña el último de su discografía, que cuenta con 5 discos de estudio, a cual mejor a mi juicio. Es inegable que siento debilidad por esta banda en concreto y a los que nos agrada nos alegra pensar que a comienzos de 2015 se espera un nuevo disco que ya parecen haber empezado a grabar, en fin espero que os guste a los que no la conozcais y empiece a formar parte de la banda sonora de vuestras vidas.
