Manegarm - Edsvuren

 

EDSVUREN 

Si echamos la vista atrás en lo que se refiere a la historia de esta banda sueca, Manegarm, vemos ya una larga trayectoria a sus espaldas con once LP's de estudio en esos años de actividad (desde 1995). Con esa concepción compositiva a medio camino entre el black metal y el folk metal, de temática siempre nórdica, vikinga, la banda ha ido creciendo a medida que desarrollaban su carrera, y añadiendo poco a poco más melodía han ido aumentando sus legiones de fans hasta su estatus actual muy respetado en general. En este 2025, hace poco más de un mes editaban su undécimo LP, "Edsvuren", con los típicos clichés de la banda, y del que dejo hoy en el blog el tema que la da nombre, del que dejo un enlace a youtube

Human Frotress - Lord Of Earth And Heavens Heir

 

LORD  OF  EARTH  AND  HEAVENS  HEIR

Los alemanes Human Fortress son una de esas bandas que han estado siempre como en una segunda fila, muy a pesar de haber estado mostrando suficientes dosis de calidad desde el inicio de su carrera al mismo tiempo que el presente siglo, como para haber merecido mejor suerte. Sin embargo, en este caso también, la falta de continuidad así como los cambios en la formación les ha podido pasar factura para lograr mayores cotas de reconocimiento. En estas dos décadas y media de actividad han publicado siete LP's de estudio más un EP. Volviendo la cara a sus inicios quiero hoy dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su debut en formato LP, "Lord of earth and heavens heir", de 2001, concretamente la canción que dio nombre a la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Angus McSix - The Fire Of Yore

THE  FIRE  OF  YORE 

La respuesta del cantante Thomas Winkler a su salida de Gloryhammer fue la creación de una banda clónica paralela, eso sí, con la colaboración de al menos un nombre gigantesco como fue el de Seeb Levermann de Orden Ogan, eso garantizaba sin duda el sonido. Lo curioso del tema es que tras la salida en 2023 de su primer y, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, único disco, el citado cantante sale también de este proyecto, lo que podría parecer la sentencia del mismo, sin embargo, con la llegada de un nuevo cantante, Samuel Nyman (Manimal), y la bestia compositiva y técnica de Levermann, el grupo está en este 2025 dando muestras de su continuidad a través ya de dos singles nuevos, el primero de ellos ya lo dejé en el blog y hoy dejo el segundo, "The fire of Yore". Todo apunta a que será preludio de su segundo disco de estudio. Dejo un enlace a youtube de este segundo single.

WAR  OF  THE  RING 

Rebuscando una vez más en el universo en si mismo que fue la NWOBHM, siempre puedes seguir encontrándote con interesantes bandas de esas absolutamente anónimas, de las que apenas dejaron una pequeña muestra de su potencial para diluirse en el anónimato del que jamás llegaron a salir, hoy de nuevo otra de esas bandas británicas, ARC, quienes permanecen en activo entre 1978 y 1985 con tan solo un par de singles publicados en 1980 y 1981, solo cuatro temas en total, que se antoja un insuficiente legado aunque suficiente muestra del mencionado potencial. Eluveitie - Aeon Of The Crescent Moon

AEON  OF  THE  CRESCENT  MOON 

Tras más de un lustro de silencio compositivo, los suizos Eluveitie regresan a través de su séptimo LP de estudio a la senda de eterna promesa de este sonido folk death melódico con de nuevo muchas esperanzas en su explosión definitiva. Es una banda que ha demostrado a partes iguales su calidad y capacidad tanto como su inconstancia, un peaje enorme en los tiempos que corren. "Anv" parece destinado a devolver esa esperanza de crecimiento a la banda que ha cuidado más algunos aspectos como la parte de la producción y refuerza esa dualidad entre la melancólica propuesta melódica con la desgarradora potencia en otros momentos.Un disco de buen nivel del que dejo hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Aeon ot the crescent moon" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Velvet Viper - HM Rebels

HM  REBELS 

Vamos con los germanos Velvet Viper, una de esas bandas creadas por un músico, para un músico y de las que se crean para reivindicar la valía de dicho músico tras su salida de otra banda, en este caso ese músico es Jutta Weinhold, la que fuera vocalista de Zed Yago, quien tras su salida de la banda en 1990 crea junto al batería de la misma la banda Velvet Viper. El proyecto pronto quedaría en "Stand by" con tan solo tres años de actividad y dos LP's más un EP publicados en esos años iniciales, y sería reactivado por la lider de la banda en 2017 con una nueva alineación obteniendo el fruto de 6 LP's más de momento en esa segunda parte de su carrera, (ahí es nada, 6 discos en ocho años). Evidentemente hablamos de heavy metal que rezuma sonido clásico, y de su disco debut, de 1991, "Velvet Viper" quiero dejar en el blog su canción "HM Rebels" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Frozen Crown - Ice Dragon

 

ICE  DRAGON 

Los italianos Frozen Crown siguen dando pasos adelante en su carrera. consolidando a la banda con cada nueva obra y afianzandose tras la salida de buena parte de su formación. El alma mater de la banda, principal motor compositivo Federico Mondelli, ha ido sustituyendo las piezas que faltaban para seguir dando forma a este proyecto musical que va haciendose un hueco propio en la escena internacional, cada vez con más miembros femeninos, empezando por su vocalista Giada Etro que lidera la formación desde el inicio en 2017. Su quinto trabajo de estudio "War Hearts" salió a la venta en 2024 y de él dejo hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones, "Ice Dragon" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Alestorm - The Storm

THE  STORM 

Si hablabamos ayer de una banda cuyo inicio no presagiaba una carrera excepcional, hoy podemos decir lo mismo de la banda que nos ocupa, los escoceses Alestorm. Si que es cierto que su sonido resultaba ser quizá más acorde al actual desde el comienzo respecto a lo dicho referente a los italianos Wind Rose con su propio inicio, sin embargo, los mimbres de la banda (Alestorm), así a priori nunca me hubiesen hecho jurar que resultarían tan exitosos e imitables, abriendo escuela. En este 2025 el grupo ha publicado ya el octavo LP de estudio desde su formación en 2007, y sabiendo lo que el publico les demanda ellos simplemente se lo dan.  HOME  OF  THE  TWILIGHT

Que bien ha sabido buscarse la vida la banda italiana Wind Rose, tras un comienzo muy normal, que solo hacía presagiar una banda más bastante del montón, encontraron la inspiración en el mundo de los enanos, y con ella su identidad, su sitio en la escena internacional, una base sobre la que crecer como banda y desde luego que lo han hecho. En total son ya seis los LP's de la banda, los últimos cuatro completamente centrados en su imagen actual, y del último de ellos, "Trollslayer" de 2024 quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, concretamente "Home of the twilight" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Amorphis - Fog To Fog

FOG  TO  FOG 

Poco que añadir al propio nombre de Amorphis, ya se ha dicho todo y ellos ya lo hacen con cada nueva obra de estudio que no hace sino agrandar su leyenda entre propios y extraños que dejan de serlo para la banda a poco que le presten atención a su material. Siempre la calidad por estandarte, siempre el buen gusto compositivo, la fuerza y la melodía a partes iguales, con un punto de necesidad de atención a través del lado progresivo que insinúan, unos auténticos maestros que se conocen perfectamente y simplemente llevan a cabo su plan. Kreator - Seven Serpents

SEVEN  SERPENTS 

Hablar de Kreator es hacerlo de un clásico, una de esas bandas con toda la historia habida y por haber a sus espaldas, y que parecen no dejar de agrandar su leyenda con cada nuevo paso. Historia personal que se remonta a los inicios de los ochenta, con tres cambios de nombre antes de adoptar el definitivo de Kreator entre 1982 y 1984, desde entonces hasta ahora, quince LP's de estudio si incluimos "Krushers of the world" que verá la luz con los primeros días del año que viene, a los que sumar cuatro EP's. Desde Alemania llega hoy al blog la banda Reaper, una de las varias que escogieron ese nombre para desarrollar su carrera musical, una banda que aunque sigue en activo en su estatus, es otro caso de banda que tuvo una carrera breve, reactivada a posteriori, bastante desconocida y una vez más con muchas virtudes, suficientes para haber alcanzado mejores cotas de popularidad si su suerte hubiese sido otra. Primer periodo de actividad desde 1984 hasta comienzos de los noventa. Luego reactivación para publicar otro par de albumes en una década que no han cambiado su suerte. Su primer material en formato EP es de 1986, seguido de dos LP's en 1990 y 1992, luego 2009 y 2014 para una década posterior de silencio hasta hoy en día. Heavy metal de la vieja escuela es su objetivo compositivo, quizá demasiado old school para intentarlo a comienzos de los 90, en que ese sonido se percibía como anticuado, había esa necesidad de dejarlo atrás. Havamal - The Shaman

THE  SHAMAN 

Vamos hoy con un poco de death melódico "ensiferico" en la figura de la banda sueca Havamal, un grupo formado en 2016 que en este 2025 publicará su tercer LP de estudio "Age of the gods" tras un silencio largo que se extiende a antes de la pandemia, y al que en este año ponen fin. Sus dos anteriores albumes son de 2019 y 2021, cuatro años de silencio que de momento han roto con el adelanto de su nueva obra titulado "The Shaman", death melódico de primer nivel del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Rossana's Raiders - We Are Raiders

WE  ARE  RAIDERS 

Otra banda más de las desconocidas a nivel general, en este caso los australianos Rossana's Raiders, que desarrollaron su corta carrera en la parte final de la década de los ochenta y a los que se puede englobar también en ese grupo de bandas denominadas White Metal por su temática cristiana y su fondo compositivo de heavy metal. Cuatro son los discos que publicaron en su periodo de actividad que se extendió durante y hasta el final de la década de los ochenta. Su tercer LP lleva por título "Calling down fire", y salió a la venta en 1988, disco del que dejo hoy en el blog la canción "We are raiders" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Sarayasign - One Last Cry

ONE  LAST  CRY 

Si hay que buscar la elegancia por defecto sin duda alguna en una de las escenas internacionales que deberíamos recalar en primer lugar debería ser en la sueca, una aparentemente interminable cantera de bandas con una aparente facilidad innata para crear música de calidad. Hoy traigo al blog a los suecos Sarayasign, que cumplen con creces lo expuesto, formados en 2020, han comenzado su carrera con fuerza e ilusión a juzgar por contar ya con tres obras de estudio en estos cinco años de vida si incluimos su último trabajo "Shadows of the dying light" que verá la luz de manera oficial el último día de este mes de octubre. Heavy metal melódico flirteando con ese hard rock moderno nórdico tan efectivo. De este último trabajo dejo hoy en el blog su adelanto "One last cry" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
