Sin duda alguna el lanzamiento del nuevo LP de estudio de los británicos Judas Priest será una de las obras más esperadas de todo Marzo y seguramente de todo 2024, y es que esta banda parece eterna, importante como pocas, fundamental, decisiva en lo influyente e incombustible a juzgar por los adelantos que nos van dejando antes de que se haga efectiva su publicación oficial para este día ocho, esta semana que entra. Vamos con uno de esos grupos que llevan ya mucho tiempo siendo un seguro de vida en esto de la calidad y el acierto compositivo, los suecos Eclipse que en estos días dejan un nuevo single con la escusa de que en breve habrá un eclipse y ellos han visto la ocasión para editar este par de temas en un vinilo con regalo de gafas para disfrutar de dicho eclipse incluidas, puro marketing eso sí acompañado de buena música siempre bajo este nombre. Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - Challenge The Wind

CHALLENGE  THE  WIND

La carrera de los italianos Rhapsody of Fire sigue viento en popa y con el anuncio de su nuevo disco de estudio, "Challenge The Wind" para mayo, el que supondrá ya su décimo quinto LP de estudio, y asentandose sin generar ninguna duda en su época post Lione-Turilli, los de Staropolli, adentrados en su saga Nephilim Empire, editan su nuevo trabajo con el apoyo de AFM y el de Seeb Levermann en la producción, un añadido más. Según Staropolli estamos ante la obra de Rhapsody más metálica, sin respiros para temas lentos pero con todos los ingredientes propios de la banda. De momento nos dejan este adelanto "Challenge the wind" que da nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Desde Canada mos llegan de nuevo Striker, un grupo que lleva ya en activo desde 2007 y al que se le va notando ya la experiencia, desde luego desde el principio dejaron bien claro que tenían mucho que decir y el tiempo ha dado la razón a su propuesta, un heavy power metal con un regusto clásico, energico, que ya ha ilustrado siete albumes de estudio, el último de ellos de este 2024, concretamente publicado a comienzos de febrero y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas,  "Circle of evil" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Don't Drop The Sword

  

A  MURDER  OF  RAVENS

Otra banda más estos alemanes, Don't drop the sword, de esas que van poco a poco dando pasos adelante agrandando su perspectiva de futuro y mostrando que su presente es mucho más que remarcable. Es un grupo nacido en 2016 y que a pesar de tener solo dos LP's de estudio, a fecha de esta reseña, han sabido gestionar los tiempos bien a través de tres EP's mucho más que interesantes. Su sonido Blindguardianesco sin ningún tipo de complejo les ha ido llevando por el camino apropiado hasta ahora. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones que forman parte de su segunda obra "Age of heroes" de 2023, concretamente la larga "A murder of ravens" donde muestran todo su enorme potencial, desde las partes más melódicas y el poder de un medio tiempo bien diseñado, con la colaboración de Liv Kristine, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Ravage - Manmade Ice Age

MANMADE  ICE  AGE

Otra banda más de esas que a pesar de tener una trayectoria larga desde su fundación han permanecido mucho, demasiado, tiempo en terrenos underground y de demos sin explotar desde 1995 en que nacen hasta 2005 en que editan su primer LP, de todas maneras, los estadounidenses "Ravage" son una banda irregular en lo compositivo desde la perspectiva de la continuidad, en la parte final de los 90 y comienzos de los 2000 editan varios EP's y entre sus dos primeros LP's  (2005 y 2009) y los dos siguientes (2017 y 2024) transcurren demasiados años, con algún EP más entre estos dos últimos mencionados. Es una lástima atendiendo al tipo de sonido que hacen, al enorme potencial que poseen. El último trabajo, el cuarto a fecha de esta reseña, verá la luz de manera oficial el 19 de abril y su adelanto, "Manmade ice age" deja claro ese potencial al que me refiero.

Vamos ahora con un poco de heavy metal de factura clásica y americana encarnada en la banda afincada en Estados Unidos "Traveler" que en este 2024 han editado su tercer LP de estudio "Prequel to madness" hace solo tres días de forma oficial. Formados en 2017 el grupo ha escogido la senda de ese heavy metal de la vieja escuela con ningún adorno, una propuesta respaldada por el sello No Remorse que gusta de fichar a bandas del estilo. Otra banda de imparable ascenso, no demasiado longeva aún, ya que llevan en activo poco más de una década, pero que con su estilo heavy power progresivo, bastante americano, pone a estos estadounidenses en el grupo de bandas que destacan por la cuidada calidad de sus obras, hasta la fecha de esta reseña, cuatro LP's de estudio, si incluimos este "Sounds of the forgotten" cuya salida oficial se espera para el próximo mes de mayo. Canciones para una vida - Thornbridge - My Last Desire

MY  LAST  DESIRE

Nuevamente estamos ante un ejercicio "Orden Oganiano" a través del segundo adelanto de la nueva obra de los germanos "Thornbridge" que en marzo editarán el tercer LP de su carrera, "Daydream Illusion".  Es de esperar a juzgar por su trayectoria que la banda siga por esa senda tan clónica y aunque eso pueda generar muchas críticas, a los que nos gusta ese tipo de sonido nos parece fenomenal, sea como sea cada banda tiene derecho a mirarse en el espejo que quieran, y este es un espejo muy favorecedor. Canciones para una vida - Grave Digger - Back To The Roots

BACK  TO  THE  ROOTS

Vamos con el segundo de los temas de los germanos Grave Digger pertenecientes al último material de estudio publicado, de este 2024 en formato single "The grave is yours", y cuyo título es "Back to the roots", confirmando que la banda mantiene una mirada siempre al sonido de sus comienzos, cuando el heavy metal como tal hacia bien poquito que había nacido, los primeros 80. Esta canción, originalmente compuesta para el EP "Symphony of death" de 1994,  captura perfectamente ese espíritu primigenio compositivo de lo que dio forma a nuestro sonido, la verdad es que esta banda, ya fundamental en el marco del heavy metal como tal, nunca ha abandonado el sentimiento clásico, que en particular en esta canción se nota mucho, un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

MY  WORST  ENEMY

Simplemente impresionantes, los germanos Orden Ogan siguen su camino con el primer sencillo del que será su siguiente LP de estudio "The Order Of Fear", el que será su noveno album de estudio, y que con valentía han escogido una balada para dar su primera pincelada de lo que será la nueva obra. A estas alturas no creo que la banda tenga mucho que demostrar, y la figura de Seeb Levermann se alarga más allá de su banda madre hasta todos los proyectos y bandas que apadrina dando forma a su produciión, este nuevo disco no será una excepción, seguro. Canciones para una vida - Northern Seer - Northwind

 

NORTHWIND

Vamos con una banda de esas que aun a pesar de llevar un buen puñado de años en activo, (desde 2009) no han editado nada más allá de una demo y un par de singles, hablo de los finlandeses Northern Seer, con un sonido que se puede catalogar como un heavy power metal, con un regusto clásico y aunque se les cataloga como folk creo que solo puede en todo caso aplicar ese término desde el punto de vista temático más que desde el meramente compositivo o instrumental. En definitiva otra banda más de las que apenas son capaces de asomar la cabeza entre la multitud de grupos que lo intentan, pero otra banda más que puede tener y tiene el potencial para dar el siguiente paso, veremos, de momento dejo en el blog el primero de sus singles de 2018 "Northwind" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

El 16 de febrero ha visto la luz el sexto album de estudio de los daneses Vanir, quienes fieles a su estilo a medio camino del death melódico y el sonido folk nórdico siguen su carrera con paso firme ya desde 2009 en que se formaron. Canciones para una vida - Scanner - Warriors Of The Light

WARRIORS  OF  THE  LIGHT

Veo algunos paralelismos entre Riot, la banda citada en la anterior entrada del blog y Scanner, y dichos paralelismos no se refieren al estilo musical, sino a la manera en la que ambas bandas han llevado su carrera, tras una época en que saborearon el éxito, (mayor en el caso de Riot), ambos grupos se terminaron diluyendo hasta deshacerse prematuramente, máxime cuando han demostrado en ambos casos de nuevo que su segunda llegada como banda raya a un altisimo nivel de nuevo. En el caso de los germanos, dicha segunda época de actividad comienza realmente en 2015 a pesar de que ellos considerasen su estatus como activo y apesar igualmente que desde 2002 hasta ese 2015 no editasen su quinto LP  de estudio. El caso es que en este 2024 verá la luz su séptimo album de estudio "The cosmic race" cuya salida oficial se produjo a mitad de enero, y de él dejo hoy en el blog el tema "Warriors of the light" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
