Otra buena banda que retorna a la senda compositiva en este 2026 para publicar ya su tercer LP de estudio "Mournbraid" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 20 de marzo, se trata de los suecos Evermore, formados en 2016. Se trata de un power metal de corte europeo, de esos con una cuidada composición, de pulcra producción. WHEN  THE  NIGHT  FALLS

A las grandes bandas ya se les ve venir desde sus comienzos, es algo que se tiene o no se tiene y es algo que se nota desde el principio, y desde luego que los estadounidenses Iced Earth lo tienen, (o tenían, veremos si terminan por reactivarse tras su parón en 2021). El caso es que su propuesta compositiva a medio camino de varias cosas les hace atractivos para mucho tipo de público y su sonido desde inicios de la década de los 90 es ya una de esas familiares cosas que uno echa de menos cuando ya no está. Bloodbound - As Empires Fall

 

AS  EMPIRES  FALL 

Ya más de dos décadas de existencia de esta banda, Bloodbound sueca que ha ido encontrando su camino hasta instalarse en su sonido actual, pulido, un tanto predecible, absolutamente limpio y muy vendible, un euro power muy de su escena natal que en este pasado 2025 vio como su undécimo LP de estudio cumplía todas estas premisas compositivas para alegría de sus seguidores. Tyrant - Get Ready

GET  READY 

Los alemanes Tyrant son una de esas interesantes bandas ochenteras, de las que se mantuvieron siempre en una segunda línea pero que demostraron desde el inicio de su carrera, 1981, y durante toda la década que fue su periodo de actividad, a lo largo de sus 4 LP's de estudio, su capacidad para fabricar un heavy metal contundente, con la magia del sonido de la Old School. Supuestamente la banda se reunió de nuevo en 2020, y es uno de esos grupos que tengo ganas de ver de que son capaces tantos años depués. Hoy, repasando de nuevo su discografía quiero dejar una de las canciones de su penúltimo LP, (a fecha de esta reseña), "Running Hot" de 1986, concretamente la canción "Get ready" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Ambush - Maskirovka

 

MASKIROVKA 

 Vamos de nuevo con los suecos Ambush, una de esas primeras bandas que se apuntaron a la resurrección del sonido clásico del heavy metal de la vieja escuela, que se viene produciendo desde la primera mitad de la pasada década. Formados en 2013, a fecha de esta reseña han publicado cuatro LP's de estudio, el último de ellos del pasado 2025, "Evil in all dimensions", y del que quiero dejar en el blog hoy otra de sus canciones, hoy "Markirovka" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Mantas - Let It Rock

LET  IT  ROCK 

La escena general del heavy metal a finales de los ochenta cambiaba, sobre todo desde un punto de vista puro, de sonido heavy metal como tal, se hibridaba para adaptarse a las necesidades de los oyentes, y una de esas mezclas era el hard 'n heavy que por ejemplo esta banda británica Mantas, practicó en se debut de 1988. Como digo, 1988 era un año bastante conflictivo para hacer heavy metal crudo, se estilaba un sonido más orientado al hard rock, sobre todo si se quería asaltar el mercado estadounidense. Mantas, que para 1988 acababa de formarse, haría esta buena incursión en el hard 'n heavy "Winds of change", para después caer en un silencio de más de una década, resucitando como grupo en 2004 a través de un segundo disco más orientado al groove industrial, poco o nada que ver con lo hecho en el pasado. FIGHTER 

Con un sonido más del otro lado del charco al del lado al que pertenecen, los germanos Kerrigan dan continuidad a su carrera en este recién estrenado 2026 a través de su segundo LP de estudio "Wayfarer", que verá la luz de forma oficial para finales de marzo. Estamos ante la enésima demostración de que a nivel global el renacimiento desde una década para esta parte del heavy metal como sonido, a lo clásico, es toda una realidad. Excelsis - Bluetmond

 

BLUETMOND 

Los suizos Excelsis siempre han seguido su propio camino, desde todos los puntos de vista, desde la forma de diseñar sus composiciones hasta los tiempos y ritmos en la publicación de los mismos, y como resultado tenemos una banda con un marcado sello personal y al mismo tiempo una banda ya longeva (desde 1996) pero con una discografía no tan extensa como ese tiempo de actividad quizás debería indicar (9 LP's de estudio), pero si lo tuyo es el sonido de power con un lado oscuro, bastantes dosis épicas y folk estamos ante una banda fundamental. Vamos con los polacos Titanium, una de las varias bandas que lo han intentado bajo ese nombre, para, en este 2026, tratar de relanzar su carrera a través de un single tras una década completa de silencio. Hablamos de un heavy power melódico, para nada exento de velocidad, de hecho, podemos encontrar una similitud en el sonido de este grupo con dos bandas, Majestic con un plus de velocidad a lo Dragonforce. Burning Point - The Ignitor

THE  IGNITOR 

Los finlandeses Burning Point son ya una veterana banda nacida en el tramo final de la década de los noventa que han cultivado a lo largo de toda su carrera el power de corte europeo, con una nada despreciable ida y venida de músicos ex de muchas bandas conocidas y que de momento, a fecha de esta reseña, su carrera ha dado para la publicación de ocho LP's de estudio, quizá demasiado espaciados, lo que ha podido limitar su mayor consideración por parte del gran público, algo que atendiendo a su calidad como banda les debería haber bastado para alcanzar mayores cotas de popularidad. En 2012, la banda publicaba su quinto LP de estudio "The Ignitor" del que dejo hoy en el blog el tema que le dio nombre y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Steve Vai - For The Love Of God

FOR  THE  LOVE  OF  GOD 

El guitarrista estadounidense Steve Vai es otro de esos nombres que forman parte de la élite en lo suyo, en este caso en el Shred guitarrero bajo su nombre, así como formando parte de varias bandas y proyectos de primer nivel como también colaborando con infinidad de nombres. Nueve LP's de estudio forman su discografía en solitario, a fecha de esta reseña, el segundo de ellos, "Passion and Warfare" de 1990, es el que hoy traigo al blog, y de él, por supuesto, quiero dejar la inevitable "For the love of god", una pieza de esas que no necesita de más adornos, de más argumentos que el del guitarrista y su guitarra para resultar perfectos, un temazo del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Persian Risk - Hold The Line

HOLD  THE  LINE 

Otra banda más de las nacidas al calor de la NWOBHM, nacida con la década de los ochenta, y una vez más fue una banda de carrera demasiado corta sobre todo teniendo en cuenta los méritos por ejemplo de su debut. De igual manera fue otra banda de las que lo intentarían décadas después con una segunda parte de su carrera en los 10 de este siglo para publicar dos LP's más que no cambiaron su suerte inicial. El 17 de abril será la fecha de salida oficial del nuevo trabajo de estudio de los alemanes Victorius, en lo que supondrá ya su séptimo LP. Megadeth - Let There Be Shred

LET  THERE  BE  SHRED 

Claramente más de uno va a tener que comerse sus palabras ante la última (y por lo visto literalmente) obra de los americanos Megadeth, expuestos a las críticas desde el mismo inicio de su carrera, el peso del pasado de Mustaine en Metallica y su salida de la banda es algo que le ha lastrado desde el inicio y de lo que me temo que nunca llegará a librarse a pesar de haber demostrado no solo estar al nivel de sus excompañeros durante gran parte de su carrera y la mayor parte de ese tiempo por encima diría yo, pero el choque con los grandes nombres hace que quien comete semejante pecado no sea perdonado facilmente. El caso es que este "Megadeth" de 2026 es un auténtico tiro, desatado, poderoso y seguramente auto reivindicativo, y de él dejo hoy en el blog este otro tema, "Let there be Shred" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Crematory - The Fallen

THE  FALLEN 

Para 2000, la banda germana Crematory había alcanzado, en su cambiante forma de estructurar su carrera, una fórmula muy resultona, (personalmente una de las que más me han gustado de la banda), donde las dos voces masculinas con el contrapunto entre las limpias y las guturales, daban ese toque que unido al filo de las composiciones del momento abrió el mercado del grupo a muchos más oidos. En ese año 2000 el grupo editaba su séptimo LP que llevaba por título "Believe" y del que dejo hoy en el blog un buen ejemplo de lo dicho a través de la canción "The Fallen" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda más que empieza a abrirse camino, en este caso, desde un punto de vista de publicación de material en formato LP el pasado 2025 con su debut "Ends of the earth". Greyhawk - Ascension

 

ASCENSION 

El 13 de febrero verá la luz de forma oficial el tercer LP de los estadounidenses Greyhawk, "Warriors Of Greyhawk", un disco que debe ser ya más que la confirmación de una banda en franco crecimiento después de lo demostrado ya en su carrera. El primero de sus adelantos lleva por título "Ascension" a través del que dejan claro que su sendero compositivo sigue la línea de lo ofrecido, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Heidevolk - Een Nieuw Begin

 

EEN  NIEUW  BEGIN

Los Holandeses Heidevolk, otro de esos valores seguros en lo suyo, es ya una banda veterana, (formados en 2002), y saben perfectamente de memoria que sonido quieren, y deben hacer, ese folk metal, de temática vikinga y nórdica, con ese aire rudo, con las letras en su holandés natal. En 2012 el grupo editaba el cuarto de los siete LP's que la banda ha creado a fecha de esta reseña, "Batavi", del que dejo hoy en el blog la canción que abre la obra, "Een Nieuw Begin", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Master Spy - Maze Runner

MAZE  RUNNER 

Ya en su debut de 2021, los canadienses Master Spy nos dejaron una grandísima impresión, dejaron claro su potencial, y claro, fue inevitable su parecido en ciertos aspectos con los británicos Iron Maiden, lo que les hizo que muchas miradas curiosas pusieran sus ojos en ellos. En 2025 editaba la banda su segundo LP, "Maze Runner", que debería ser la confirmación del grupo, no es fácil muchas veces ese segundo paso cuando se destaca en el primero, pero sin duda la banda sigue la línea de su debut en este "Maze Runner" del que hoy dejo en el blog el tema que le da nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Cruachan - Ride On

RIDE ON 

Otra de esas bandas que van cumpliendo años en la escena internacional son los irlandeses Cruachan, con su folk celtico y su sonido oscuro al inicio y progresivamente más melódico. Nace como banda casi con el siglo aunque sus raíces previas se hunden en la década de los 90 y en la banda Minas Tirith. En 2002 el grupo publicaba su tercer LP de estudio "Folk Lore" del que quiero hoy dejar en el blog su tema "Ride On" que es una versión bastante exitosa de Jimmy MacCarthy y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.
