Este 2026 será el año de la confirmación de la banda "Angus McSix", en lo que parecía una venganza de un músico despedido de una banda similar, (otra de esas historias recurrentes a lo largo de la historia), pero claro, si esa propuesta a priori un tanto hueca está respaldada por un primer disco al menos digamos que notable, y si tras la composición está un nombre como el de Seeb Levermann, entonces la cosa cambia, y el empaque del grupo no sería extraño que terminase por eclipsar al grupo a "agredir", a poco que se mantenga el esfuerzo compositivo. En este 2026 como digo veremos la continuación del magnífico citado debut, a través de la obra "Angus McSix and the seeing astral eye", cuya salida oficial se espera para el trece de marzo y del que hoy dejo en el blog este otro adelanto, "I Am Adam McSix", con la colaboración para mayor atención de Rhapsody Of fire, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Falconer - Home Of The Knave

 

HOME  OF  THE  KNAVE 

Falconer, o la vieja historia del reciclaje de un músico, en este caso el sueco Stefan Weinerhall quien tras terminar su anterior banda Mithotyn, decide cambiar algo de lo que venía haciendo, aunque manteniendo su gusto por el sonido folk, ahora, enmarcado en una voz limpia en lugar del enfoque death vocal de su anterior proyecto, así, en 1999 comenzaría la andadura de esta banda que ha estadp en activo hasta 2020 dejandonos nueve más que interesantes LP's en los que es altamente recomendable sumergirse. A mitad de camino de su carrera, encontramos su quinto LP de estudio, "Northwind" de 2006, y de él quiero dejar hoy en el blog su canción "Home of the knave" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Ya desde el primer momento los islandeses Power Paladin recibieron las miradas de todos los amantes del power metal a través de su debut de 2022 "With the magic of the windfyre steel", sobre todo de la parte defensora del sonido europeo, que ellos practican. TNT - Tor With The Hammer

TOR  WITH  THE  HAMMER 

Los noruegos TNT se harían una famosa banda ochentera por su vertiente más melódica, asaltando la escena americana y a través de ella todo el planeta con sus discos más orientados al heard rock melódico y el AOR, sin embargo, los inicios del grupo resultaron mucho más contundentes en su propuesta compositiva, con ese heavy metal quizá melódico desde el inicio, que exhibieron en su debut y segunda obra que hoy nos ocupa, "Knights of the new thunder" de 1984, y del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog otra de sus canciones que ilustra perfectamente lo dicho, concretamente "Tor with the hammer" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Aeon Gods - Birth Of Light

BIRTH  OF  LIGHT 

Los alemanes Aeon Gods son uno de esos grupos que parecen haber nacido con el pie derecho, que desde su mismo inicio han mostrado su buen hacer, con una enorme acogida entre público y crítica, para deslumbrando con su debut de 2024 dar continuidad apenas dos años después a su carrera con su segundo LP "Reborn to light" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 20 de febrero de este inminente 2026, prometiendo una continuidad sonora respecto a su debut, a juzgar por el primer adelanto del mismo "Birth of light" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Hammerfall - Origins

 

ORIGINS 

El noveno album de la banda sueca Hammerfall "(r)Evolution", publicado en 2014, es un intento de la banda de retomar el rumbo de su carrera, que venía dando tumbos en las anteriores obras dejando atrás ese prestigio cosechado sobre todo en sus tres primeras obras, y que alcanzaba sus horas más bajas en su anterior obra de 2011, la octava, "Infected" que les alejaba por completo de su identidad compositiva y que les hizo abrir los ojos sobre cual era su nicho sonoro y cual debería ser su camino a seguir si querían continuar en la línea del éxito. Este disco de 2014 "(r)Evolution", es un guiño pues a las raices del grupo, un intento deliberado de restaurar su imagen, ya desde la misma portada con el absolutamente incontestable talento de Andreas Marschall, hasta el estilo que podría haber colocado la obra de los suecos cronologicamente hablando en cuarto lugar. Primeros apuntes sobre el nuevo disco de los finlandeses Metal De Facto, la parte dos de su obra "Land of the rising sun", cuya primera entrega se produjo en 2024 y que para el 6 de marzo ya de 2026, tendrá continuidad en la citada segunda entrega. Midnight Vice - Mystic Eyes

MYSTIC  EYES 

Los estadounidenses Midnight Vice son la enésima banda nueva que apuesta por ese sonido de corte clásico, de fondo ochentero, base de heavy metal con guiños hard ' n heavy. Es una banda formada en 2020 que de momento ha publicado tan solo un EP en 2023 y que ahora, en este ya agonizante 2025 publican un nuevo single "Mystic Eyes" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial. Está de moda no hay duda ese aire compositivo a lo retro, y por que no, también la imagen, basta con ver este clip.

Ivory Tower - One Life In Asia

ONE  LIFE  IN  ASIA 

El sonido del power progresivo, siempre exigente de un punto extra de atención por parte del usuario, tuvo uno de sus buenos momentos desde inicios de la década de los 90, siempre deudor del buen hacer compositivo de los enormes Dream Theater que terminarían exportando su forma creativa más allá de sus fronteras, en este caso encarnado en la banda alemana Ivory Tower, quienes, sobre todo en sus comienzos y sus primeras obras encontraban en ese sonido Dream Theater un espejo en el que mirarse.  Ivory Tower se forma en 1996, y en 1998 publican su debut "Ivory Tower" que les puso directamente en el mapa internacional con una muy buena acogida entre los seguidores del sonido progresivo. De esta obra quiero dejar en el blog hoy seguramente su tema más reconocido, "One life in Asia" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Venger - Navigate The Labyrinth

NAVIGATE  THE  LABYRINTH 

Nueva banda internacional a la vista con miembros de tres nacionalidades, Inglaterra, Austria y Noruega, son Venger, formados en 2024 y que para primeros de enero de 2026 publicarán su disco debut "Times of legend" en una clave de heavy metal con destellos power. Nada nuevo, nada innovador, solo la irrupción de otro nuevo grupo cuyo camino veremos donde les lleva. Saxon - Just Let Me Rock

JUST  LET  ME  ROCK 

Clásico una vez más de un clásico, los británicos Saxon y su "Crusader" de 1984. Siempre con esa sensación sobrevolando la carrera de la banda de que a pesar del reconocimiento, de su estatus de pioneros etc, siempre se les ha puesto un escalón por debajo, injustamente, de otros grandes nombres coetaneos a su carrera. En "Crusader" encontramos temas no solo fundamentales para el repertorio de la banda, canciones que aún presentan en vivo, sino temas eternos para la propia historia del heavy metal en sí. Vreid - From These Woods

FROM  THESE  WOODS 

Desde tierras noruegas nos llegan los ecos del que será ya el décimo LP de estudio de la banda Vreid, cuyo sonido se enmarca en un black melódico, oscuro, épico, muy de la escena de la que procede. Formados en 2004 de las cenizas de la banda Windir tras la muerte de su frontman Valfar. Un poco siguiendo la misma línea compositiva de la citada banda, el décimo trabajo de Vreid, "The skies turn black", verá su salida oficial a primeros de marzo y de momento nos dejan su adelanto "From these woods" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Defenders Of The Faith - Northern Stones

NORTHERN  STONES 

Nivel altísimo el propuesto por el proyecto sueco "Defenders of the Faith" compuesto por miembros de la banda Therion en su debut de este 2025 "Odes to the gods". Pinta tiene a juzgar por la propuesta, por la acogida y por la calidad de la propuesta de que el proyecto pueda y quizá deba perpetuarse como banda en sí en adelante, solo el tiempo dirá si es así o no. de momento las nueve canciones de la obra (con su par de alternativas) son suficiente motivo como para acercarse y disfrutar de ella, hoy, a través del blog, por ejemplo de su canción "Northern stones" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Amorphis - Crowned In Crimson

CROWNED  IN  CRIMSON 

2025 ha sido testigo no solo de la publicación del décimo sexto LP de estudio de la banda finlandesa Amorphis, sino también de la salida de un nuevo single "Crowned in Crimson" que será incluido en la película finlandesa "Son of revenge - The story of Kalevala" que se estrenará a inicios de 2026. Para el presente single además presenta en la parte vocal femenina a Lida Joutsen, hija del carismático cantante de la banda. Un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

GHOST  TOWN 

Ajeno a todo, como un reloj suizo, el guitarrista alemán Axel Rudi Pell sigue adelante con su carrera publicando album nuevo cada dos años aproximadamente, y en este inminente 2026 toca ya su vigésimo tercer LP de estudio "Ghost town", que verá la luz de forma oficial el 20 de marzo, y del que en estos días nos deja su primer adelanto,"Ghost town" que dará nombre a la obra.
