Angel Sword - Night Rider - Canciones Para Una Vida

NIGHT  RIDER 

Los finlandeses Angel Sword se sumaron desde el inicio de su carrera a la fórmula clásica del heavy metal de la old school, ese nuevo viejo heavy metal que ha repuntado desde hace más de una década a nivel global. Formados en 2010 llevan,a fecha de esta reseña, tres LP's de estudio más dos EP's para abrir boca en su carrera. Manowar - Defender - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

DEFENDER

Vuelta a los guerreros americanos Manowar para repasar una vez más una de sus grandes obras, "Fighting the world" de 1987, una obra tan breve como buena, poco más de media hora para mostrar al planeta metálico su concepto del true metal después tantas veces imitado. La banda no dejaba de crecer y tras su fulgurante comienzo, (que ya quisiéramos ver ahora, un disco o más por año), en 1987 llegaba su quinto LP donde trataban de alcanzar un escalón más en lo que a impacto global se refiere. El disco es imponente desde el principio al final y a medida que avanza, las canciones se van tornando más épicas, quizá menos "singles" pero demoledoramente épicas, y el tema "Defender", cocinado a medio gas, es ese punto de inflexión en el disco, tema que cuenta con la introducción de Orson Welles, y que después gana potencia y derrocha, en general, la citada épica, una canción fundamental de la que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

FLIGHT  OF  THE  HARPY

Skyforger - Velnakmens - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

VELNAKMENS

Toda una década ha pasado desde la salida de su anterior trabajo de estudio allá por 2015, se trata de los letones Skyforger y su séptimo LP de estudio "Teikas" cuya salida oficial ha sucedido este 1 de mayo. Quienes conozcan a la banda ya saben que aquí encontramos un sonido a medio camino del balck metal y el folk nórdico y a juzgar por las primeras escuchas de la obra no han cambiado su planteamiento tras esa década de silencio. Black Majesty - Dragon Lord - Canciones Para Una Vida

DRAGON  LORD 

Otra banda más que ha estado siempre haciendo las cosas mucho mejor que lo que su reconocimiento general indica, ya que aún son una banda bastante anónima a pesar de que estos australianos llevan en activo desde 2001 y han publicado ocho albumes de estudio desde sus incios si incluimos este "Oceans of black" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 20 de junio y del que va desgranandose ya su primera adelanto. Hablamos de power metal, en su vertiente europower, con la mayoría de elementos esperables en ese contexto compositivo, y su nueva obra llega tras siete años de silencio compositivo. El citado adelanto de la nueva obra lleva por título "Dragon Lord" y de él dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de su lyric video oficial.

Nuevo single de los finlandeses Beast In Black, quienes el pasado 2024 editaron un EP con un tema nuevo y tres canciones viejas más en directo, y quien sabe si ahora se trata del preludio de un disco nuevo el que sería ya el cuarto de la banda y que por tiempo ya les va tocando. Sabaton - Templars - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

TEMPLARS

Va llegando el momento también para esta banda, atendiendo a su ciclo compositivo de aproximadamente una obra cada tres años, de publicar un album nuevo, y el hecho de este nuevo single "Templars" hace pensar que eso puede ser así. El último LP publicado "The war to end all wars" data de 2022 y aunque entre medias han publicado tres EP's y un disco en vivo, lo que podría variar el citado ciclo, esperemos que en breve tengamos noticias de un nuevo album que contenga entre otros temas este "Templars" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Tyranny - Manipulator - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

MANIPULATOR

Vairas han sido las bandas que han escogido el nombre de Tyranny para desarrollar su carrera, y varias de ellas además procedían de Estados Unidos, hoy quiero rescatar a una de ellas, una de las estadounidenses, la californiana activas desde 1983 hasta finales de los ochenta y que después se reactivaría a comienzos de los 2000 para en teoría permanecer en activo hasta hoy, eso si, solo tres LP's dan forma a su discografía, uno en su primera época "Manipulator" de 1987, y dos en la segunda, (2007 y 2012) por lo que si es cierto que siguen en activo llevan ya trece años sin dar señales de vida compositiva. Volviendo a su primer periodo, en 1987 editaban "Manipulator" en una clave de heavy metal - hard 'n heavy, ese sonido tan característico de esos años, y de ese citado LP quiero dejar hoy en el blog el tema que le daba nombre y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Atendiendo al ritmo compositivo de LP's de los escoceses Alestorm, ya les tocaba sacar un nuevo disco y en este 2025 lo harán, el que será ya su octavo LP de estudio "The thunderfist Chronicles" cuya fecha oficial de salida es el 20 de junio. Primeras pistas del nuevo trabajo de los germanos Primal Fear, "Domination" que será el décimo quinto de su carrera y cuya salida oficial se espera para el 5 de septiembre continuando así su ritmo de disco nuevo cada dos o tres años. Ambush - Evil In All Dimensions - Canciones Para Una Vida

EVIL  IN  ALL  DIMENSIONS

Otro grupo que llevaba ya todo un lustro sin dar noticias compositivas son los suecos Ambush, una banda que comenzó su carrera en 2013 siendo una de las notables que comenzaron a esgrimir una composición de heavy metal de la vieja escuela, a la antigua usanza, algo que luego se ha generalizado a nivel planetario con el repunte actual de ese sonido de sabor clásico, y es uno de esos grupos que llamo poderosamente mi atención desde el comienzo. Su inicio fue prolífico, con dos obras en dos años, (2014 y 2015) para luego levantar el pie hasta 2020 con su tercer LP. Como digo desde entonces silencio compositivo hasta este 2025 en que publicarán el curto LP "Evil in all dimensions" (para el 5 de septiembre) y del que han dejado ya su primer adelanto, el tema que dará nombre a la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Demon - Life On The Wire - Canciones Para Una Vida

LIFE  ON  THE  WIRE

Demon, la banda británica nacida al calor de la NWOBHM, es otro claro ejemplo de grupo de absoluta calidad, con una carrera realmente consistente (14 LP's a fecha de esta reseña), que sin embargo nunca ha recibido el reconocimiento que su trayectoria merece. Con un sonido variado, según su momento, versátil y siempre lleno de calidad, el grupo ha sabido mantenerse vivo durante todos estos años, (desde 1979) con algún ligero paréntesis. Desde heavy metal de la NWOBHM ochentero, a un hard 'n heavy, pasando por el hard rock y el sonido progresivo hasta incluso tocar el sonido AOR, creo que merece mucho dedicarle un tiempo a la carrera de la banda, sumergirse en su discografía algo que a muchos dejará gratamente sorprendidos. Hoy quiero rescatar uno de los temas de su sexta obra, "Breakout" de 1987, en un momento más progresivo de sus composiciones, para dejar la canción "Life on the wire" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dream Evil - Thunder In The Night - Canciones Para Una Vida

Los suecos Dream Evil parecen haber regresado con muchas ganas a su periodo de actividad actual ya que en este 2025 han sacado un EP "Thunder in the night" tras su LP del pasado 2024 "Metal Gods" que rompía siete años de silencio desde su anterior larga duración "Six" de 2017. El caso es que a juzgar por el resultado del último LP, algo refrendado en este EP de este año, la banda se encuentra en perfecto estado de forma y esperemos que sea solo el comienzo de esta nueva etapa y que sea larga, se trata de una de esas bandas que aportan mucho y son necesarias en plena forma. Enchanted Steel - Quest For The Battle Of Battle - Canciones Para Una Vida

QUEST  FOR  THE  BATTLE  OF  BATTLE

Vaya por delante que este tipo de bandas sinfónicas, de las que subsisten comiendoselo y guisandoselo todo ellos mismos, y por lo general con pocos miembros, suelen cansarme, aunque reconozco que siempre me asomo a su propuesta porque no es raro encontrarse temas destacables o que merezcan la pena, pero sin ninguna duda suelo ver a este tipo de bandas como bandas de canciones y no de discos completos. En este caso es un grupo de reciente formación (2023), procedente de Polonia, y con solo un músico encargandose de todo, incluida producción al margen de una discográfica. Como digo power sinfónico, lleno de arreglos, no carente de gancho, y de cuyo disco "Might and magic", su debut en ese formato de este 2025 quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Quest for the battle of battle" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Los germanos Dragonsfire están de vuelta en este 2025 a través de la que será su tercer LP de estudio "Rebirth of the beast" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 15 de mayo. De nuevo estamos ante una banda que daba señales de un incierto futuro independientemente de su calidad, en este caso hablamos de una banda formada en 2005 pero con solo dos LP's en 20 años, algo que como digo subsanarán en este año con una tercera obra que promete un renacimiento a través del título.
