I , THE  RADICAL

Los estadounidenses Ninth Circle son una banda con un largo ya recorrido en activo (desde 1996) que sin embargo han tenido una carrera muy pausada ya que en todos esos años solo cinco han sido los LP's de estudio publicados, el último de ellos de este 2025 "Anthem of the immortal" que verá la luz de forma oficial en el mes de junio. Se trata de una banda que practica un sonido heavy power, que por ejemplo en el tema de adelanto de la nueva obra, "I The Radical" que dejo hoy en el blog, se va un poco a los propios judas o a Primal Fear, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Void - Retrun Of The Phantom - Canciones Para Una Vida

RETURN  OF  THE  PHANTOM

La banda estadounidense Void se forma en 2019 y a fecha de esta reseña, tan solo tiene un único LP de estudio publicado, "Horros of reality" de 2023, al que sumar desde 2021 en adelante un puñado de singles, el ultimo de ellos del pasado 2024. Hablamos de un sonido que apunta hacia un thrash pero con un plus melódico, que en no pocas ocasiones bordea el heavy speed metal de corte clásico. No hay duda del aire clásico de su sonido, como en el tema que dejo hoy en el blog, su citado último single de 2024 "Return of the phantom" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Neuroblade - Avalon - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

AVALON

En 2023 comienza la andadura de este proyecto belga, Neuroblade, en el que dos músicos se han encargado de dar forma y que en este 2025 (el 2 de mayo) verá como publican su EP "Desert claw". Se trata de una mezcla de sonidos de heavy metal de corte clásico con un heavy más acelerado que roza el thrash, sin renunciar a la vertiente melódica. Arctc Heart - Valhalla - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

VALHALLA

Estamos más acostumbrados a que el sonido de las bandas provenientes de Noruega esté más orientado al black death metal, con un aura y una atmósfera oscuras, pero no todos los grupos parece que escogen esa vía, alguno, como Arctic Heart, escogen una senda heavy power de corte europeo para desarrollar su carrera. Formados en 2019, comienzan a publicar material en 2023, primero a través de un par de singles, anticipo de su debut "Ragnarok" ese mismo año. En este 2025 acaban de publicar su continuación (4 de abril) con su segundo LP "Valhalla". Solo con los títulos de la sobras se puede uno hacer una idea de por donde les llega la inspiración, la mitología nórdica copa sus letras. BLOWN  TO  KINGDOM  COME

Hacía ya tiempo que no rescataba algún tema del pasado glorioso de una de mis bandas preferidas, los germanos Running Wild, y hoy me ha venido a la cabeza el enorme disco "Port Royal" de 1988, uno de los mejores de la banda en opinión general, quizá un disco más variado de lo que acostumbra la banda y que personalmente recomendaría entero. Estamos hablando del cuarto disco de estudio de la banda en un gran momento compositivo que queda patente en cada canción, de entre las que hoy quiero dejar en el blog "Blown to kingdom come", con su toque cadencioso, al tiempo que poderoso e hímnico, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Orden Ogan - The Long darkness - Canciones Para Una Vida

THE  LONG  DARKNESS

Volvamos de nuevo a la última obra de estudio de los alemanes Orden Ogan, un ejemplo casi prototípico de como hacer power metal de corte europeo de manual, una banda cada vez más importante que además a través de su lider Sebastian Levermann extiende su legado sobre el sonido de otras muchas bandas a las que produce y ayuda en cuestiones técnicas. El octavo trabajo de la banda, "The order of fear" del pasado 2024 es como digo solo la enésima demostración de su línea de trabajo, esa pulcritud, esa facilidad para generar ese sonido propio, lleno de ganchos pero con tiempo para momentos más elaborados, y siempre con un trasfondo épico como en el tema que cierra la obra "The long darkness" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Grave Digger - Mirror Of Hate - Canciones Para Una Vida

MIRROR  OF  HATE

Vamos a rescatar otro de los temas de la última obra de estudio de los germanos Grave Digger, "Bone collector" publicada con el inicio del año, un disco que no creo que vaya a considerarse como el mejor de los de Boltendhal, pero que si tiene las garantías y el sello de la banda, al final estamos ante unos veteranisimos de esto del heavy metal y en esta obra es lo que nos ofrecen, sin más ( y nada menos), es quizá una vuelta a ese origen sonoro en que hay menos ornamentaciones, es como ir más al meollo del riff que a contar una historia en capítulos, pero como digo es Grave Digger. Los suecos Candlemass regresan en este 2025 al estudio para editar un EP con dos temas nuevos y dos versiones para celebrar sus cuatro décadas de actividad y reivindicar de esta forma su importante papel dentro del heavy metal en general y del doom en particular. Tattoo - Top Of The Rock - Canciones Para Una Vida

Recuperemos hoy a otra banda de esas perdidas del pasado, los estadounidenses Tattoo, una banda gestada en los ochenta que estuvo en activo poco más de una década publicando solo dos obras de estudio que enmarcaron en un sonido heavy metal. El grupo seguía en cierta forma la línea compositiva clásica de la época aunque con una cierta vocación hard 'n heavy, y su debut editado en inicialmente en 1985 en formato cassette se reedita con algún tema extra en 1988 en formato vinilo. Swards - Secret Lies - Canciones Para Una Vida

SECRET  LIES

Vamos con otra banda relativamente nueva, los brasileños Swards, y digo relativamente ya que llevan desde 2016 como banda aunque tan solo han editado un EP en 2018 al que han seguido varios singles que parecen preparar un primer LP del que aún no tengo conocimiento. Estamos hablando de la escena brasileña, que tiene una gran actividad aunque creo que hay muchas diferencias entre la calidad de la bandas, pero mirandose en el espejo de Angra, estos Swards deben meterse en el saco de los que prometen dar que hablar para bien en un futuro esperemos que próximo. Ozzy Osbourne - Breaking All The Rules - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

BREAKING  ALL  THE  RULES

La carrera del británico Ozzy Osbourne en solitario siempre fue un buen ejemplo de como rodearse de buenos músicos para asegurar un buen resultado sin depender exclusivamente de un nombre importante como siempre fue el suyo. Para finales de los ochenta el músico ya había lanzado varios discos importantes no solo para su discografía sino que, como el tiempo ha mostrado, también para el sonido heavy metal en general, y en 1988 editaba su quinto LP "No rest for the wicked", con el que presentaba en sociedad a un desconocido Zakk Wylde, que aportó su toque personal a la obra, es otro de esos guitarristas muy reconocibles. Insania - Revolution - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

REVOLUTION

Los comienzos de esta banda sueca, Insania, en plena explosión de bandas europeas que desarrollaban el incipiente power metal allá por el primer tercio de la década de los 90, hacía pensar que sería su carrera más grande de lo que realmente ha sido, pero la realidad es que, cuaestión aparte de la calidad que no tiene nada que envidiar a bandas muy asentadas, su inconstancia, sobre todo desde 2003 en adelante, con demasiado espacio entre obras, sobre todo entre la cuarta (2007) y la quinta (2021) les ha tenido que hipotecar a la hora de alcanzar cotas más altas de reconocimiento. En este 2025 continuan su camino con lo que será la sexta obra, "The Great apocalypse", cuya salida oficial se espera para el trece de junio, y de la que dejan en estos días su primer adelanto, "Revolution" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Dragonknight - Defenders Of Dragons - Canciones Para Una Vida

DEFENDERS  OF  DRAGONS

En enero vio la luz el debut de los finlandeses Dragonknight, que ha resultado ser todo un homenaje a las grandes bandas europeas del género en pasadas décadas, recurriendo a los clichés típicos de este sonido para dejarnos una obra que hará las delicias de los amantes de este tipo de bandas. Incorporan algunos elementos folk aunque no siempre, otra de las virtudes de la banda parece ser ese acierto a la hora de variar su repertorio poniendose así las bases para que llegue a ser una banda destacable si siguen este camino y tienen constancia claro. Thor - Thunder - Canciones Para Una Vida

 

THUNDER

Vamos con otra banda de las que experimentaban a través de esa delgada línea que separa los sonidos, desde el rock al hard rock e incluso al heavy metal, todo ello cuando el heavy metal estaba aún naciendo, es decir en la década de los 80. Hoy me quiero referir a Thor, el grupo canadiense cuyo nombre está unido a la imagen del cantante Jhon Mikl "Thor", quien tras cambian en sus comienzos a la banda de nombre en múltiples ocasiones terminaría encontrando en Thor el nombre más acorde también a su imagen, hablamos de un ex culturista metido a cantante. Formados a comienzos de los 70, en 1977 debutarian en estudio a través de su primer LP "Keep the dogs away", un disco un tanto experimental, con un estilo ecléctico y variado, que vendería más de 50000 copias en su tierra, disco de oro, algo nada desdeñable y que dio el pistoletazo de salida a una carrera que ha extendido hasta nuestros días. Mob Rules - Back To Savage Land - Canciones Para Una Vida

BACK  TO  SAVAGE  LAND

Los alemanes Mob Rules son otra de esas bandas a las que incomprensiblemente se les ha otorgado menos repercusión, reconocimiento, de lo que sus méritos compositivos merecen, es un grupo que comenzó a mediados de los 90, en plena explosión de bandas power en Europa, quizá por ello mucha gente ni se ha molestado en seguir su trayectoria, pero a mi juicio, el nivel medio de sus obras ha sido siempre altísimo, y tras un largo silencio desde su anterior LP de 2018 "Beast reborn", en este 2025 publicarán su undécimo album de estudio "Rise of the ruler", lo que personalmente es una grata noticia pues sigo su trayectoria desde el comienzo disfrutando en general mucho de su sonido. El primer adelanto de la nueva obra lleva por título "Back to the savage land", y de él dejo un enlace a youtube hoy en el blog.
