THROES  OF  ATONEMENT

Desde 2018 los italianos Elvenking se embarcaron en una trilogía que en este inminente 2025 verá su culminación ante el tercer capítulo de la misma "Reader of the runes Luna" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 11 de abril. En estos días han presentado otro de los adelantos de la obra "Throes of atonement" a través del cual reivindican con orgullo el colofón de la citada trilogía al que tildan de épico y melancólico, oscuro pero esperanzador al mismo tiempo, personalmente a mí me ha parecido este tema un poco más power, un poco menos gotiquillo, más echando la mirada a los mejores momentos de la banda, pero hasta no escuchar la obra en su conjunto será dificil sacar una conclusión. Canciones para una vida - Winter - Keeping The Flame Alive

 

 KEEPING  THE  FLAME  ALIVE

En este 2024, la banda alemana Winter, liderada por el guitarrista y cantante Markus Winter ha editado su cuarto LP de estudio "Keeping the flame alive", un disco que ha supuesto un cierto cambio en la dirección compositiva de la banda acustumbrada más a un sendero tildado de gótico. Para esta obra sin embargo se aprecia un sonido más enfocado a un power metal con tintes progresivos e incluso oscuros, a los que añadir colaboraciones de lujo como el caso de Ralph Scheepers entre otros lo que da esa sensación final de giro hacia el power clasico. Canciones para una vida - Wolfheart - The Gale

THE  GALE

Los finlandeses Wolfheart van entrando en esa madurez como banda que reflejan sus siete LP's de estudio si incluimos este séptimo, "Draconian Darkness" de 2024 (6 de septiembre), un grupo que ha sabido encontrar su sonido, caracterizado por las partes tranquilas y melódicas entre los ataques furiosos de death metal, aderezado todo ello con coros majestuosos y más comerciales, siempre con esa sensación épica y visceral, que nos conecta con ese sonido ancestral y cercano a la naturaleza, un combo perfecto en manos de estos chicos. Disco homogéneo, sin altibajos, que termina dejandonos el inconfundible regusto de este grupo que comenzó en 2013. Hoy dejo en el blog otra de las canciones de su último trabajo a fecha de esta reseña, concretamente el tema que la cierra, "The Gale" del que dejo un enlace a youutbe.

Canciones para una vida - Bütcher - Keep The Steele (Flamin' Hot)

KEEP  THE  STEELE  (FLAMIN'  HOT)

Furioso heavy metal acelerado y con un tinte black procedente de Belgica encarnado en la banda Bütcher, un grupo formado en 2002 pero que comienza a activarse realmente desde 2014, editando desde 2017 tres LP's de estudio incluyendo su tercero "On fowl of tyrant wing" de este pasado mes de octubre. Como digo bases clásicas, desde su perspectiva speedica y con esos toques black que hacen del grupo una propuesta contundente y energética. Canciones para una vida - Scorpions - Coast To Coast

COAST  TO  COAST

Vamos de nuevo con uno de los gigantes, una de las bandas que desde luego no necesitan presentación de ninguna clase, dentro y fuera de los límites metálicos, un grupo que ha trascendido a las barreras para hacerse internacional sin costuras, los alemanes Scorpions que además deben ser reconocidos por su papel de importancia en lo referente a su labor impulsora en los comienzos de nuestro sonido, toda una década, (la de los setenta) dedicada a crear alguno de sus albumes más importantes y poniendo su propia base y la de otros en lo sonoro. En 1979, ya absolutamente consolidados, editaban "Lovedrive" su sexto LP de estudio con varios grandes éxitos de la banda en su interior, algunos fundamentales como por ejemplo "Always Somewhere" una de sus baladas características y prototípicas, un disco de nivel general alto con temas menos típicos como el instrumental "Coast to coast" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Die for my sins es una banda formada en 2022 por los hermanos italianos Nicolas y Fabio Calluori cuyo hogar tradicional musicalmente hablando ha sido desde 1994 la banda Heimdall, y que buscando nuevos horizontes compositivos dan salida a temas más encaminados al heavy metal tradicional alejandose de la vertiente épica noventera practicada por Heimdall. El primer disco de Die for my sins lleva por título "Scream" cuya salida oficial ha sido este pasado 21 de noviembre, y de dicho debut quiero dejar en el blog el tema que da nombre al disco en el que colabora nada menos que Ralf Scheepers, uno de los mercenarios del heavy metal por excelencia, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

NARITA

Innegociable la importancia evidente de esta banda estadounidense en los albores del sonido metálico, un grupo que si bien goza de un estatus de clásico mítico, durante demasiados años no gozo de todo el reconocimiento que merecía. Mirando a los inicios del grupo, atendiendo al sonido que creaban, vemos una salvaje concepción musical en unos años en que el heavy metal como tal no llevaba ese nombre, y, sin embargo estos estadounidenses ejecutaban un sonido que el los años que vendrían se extenderían como la pólvora, conquistando escenas y bandas globalmente y dando identidad a más de media década. Su segundo album llevaba por nombre "Narita",corría el año 1979, y de él quiero dejar en el blog el tema que le da nombre que en este caso es instrumental, un clásico del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - InnerWish - Sea Of Lies

 

SEA  OF  LIES

De nuevo desde Grecia nos asalta una banda de primer nivel, de nuevo esa escena demuestra su expléndido estado de forma y además en este caso nos encontramos con una banda de mayor recorrido, con ya mucha experiencia detrás a pesar de que solo seis discos de estudio en casi veinte años ( se forman en 1995) se antoja una discografía demasiado escasa aunque teniendo en cuenta que desde 2016 no editaban un disco nuevo la verdad es que esta obra de InnerWish, "Ash of eternal flame" resulta ser una fantástica forma de regresar. El disco en su conjunto ha resultado ser un acierto completo, y si unimos además temas con la colaboración de figuras reconocidas y reconocibles como es el caso de Hansi Kursch, pues mejor que mejor, es el caso de la canción perteneciente a esa última obra y que lleva por título "Sea of lies", canción de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

HE  HAS  RETURNED

Nuevo ejercicio de reciclaje, de mantenimiento en la escena internacional, de seguir permaneciendo a la vista de todos a ser posible con el menor esfuerzo posible y en contrapartida con el mejor resultado, y en esto los escoceses Gloryhammer son bastante expertos, un nuevo single, deslumbrante, enganchón, visualmente impecable reciclando partes antes compuestas y versionando otro par de temas propios para empaquetarlo y venderlo en estas fechas tan señaladas, que no se me interprete mal, me parece perfecto, cada uno debe "ordeñar la vaca" mientras siga teniendo leche, ahora, poco aportará este single "He has returned" a una presentación en vivo de la banda en futuros conciertos, por lo demás un tema que enseguida tararearás, con sello de la banda, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su visual clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Kiss - Parasite

 

PARASITE

En la música existen bandas que dedican tanto o más esfuerzo a lo que rodea a su música como el que dedican a cuestiones estrictamente compositivas, una de ellas sin duda es Kiss. Los estadounidenses contribuyeron sin duda a desarrollar el sonido metálico, ellos más desde una perspectiva hard rockera que propiamente dicha, sin embargo, la temprana carrera respecto a otros grupos y toda la parafernalia visual crearon escuela y su influencia sobre otros grupos fue y es innegable. Formados en 1973, en 1974 editaron sus dos primeros LP's de estudio, el segundo de llos "Hotter than hell" es el que hoy he escogido para dejar en el blog una de sus canciones. Se trata de un album que musicalmente no les dio muchos éxitos o mucho reconocimento, aún debería llegar su momento de gloria, sin embargo mostraba toda la base propia de la banda sobre la que construirían una carrera mítica que les ha posicionado en lo alto como uno de los grandes grupos clásicos. Hoy, como decía más arriba quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su segundo LP "Hotter than Hell", concretamente "Parasite", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Powercross - Abyss Of Knowledge

ABYSS  OF  KNOWLEDGE

Power metal facturado en la prolífica escena griega que lleva ya tiempo cosechando los frutos de las décadas pasadas haciendo envidiablemente bien las cosas y actualmente van apareciendo bandas completamente nuevas con músicos desconocidos en general que mantienen esa tendencia haciendo cada vez más importante esta escuela metálica. Hoy le toca al debut de la banda Powercross, formada en 2022 y que en este 2024 edita su disco presentación "The lost empire", power metal de corte europeo, contundente sin adornos, sobrio y bien ejecutado, disco del que dejo hoy su canción "Abyss of knowledge" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Black Sabbath - Children Of The Grave

CHILDREN  OF  THE  GRAVE

De vuelta hacia los inicios de nuevo rebuscamos entre la extensa e importante discografía de los clásicos Black Sabbath, y fijandonos en la parte inicial de su carrera nos encontramos con su tercer LP de estudio, "Master of reality", de 1971, con la misión de confirmar su sonido presentado en sus dos primeros albumes, con la necesidad de ver si aquello antes parido era solo un espejismo o, creando escuela, generaría algo realmente importante, era realmente el inicio de su carrera, pero eran los años del inicio del sonido llamado Heavy metal y "Master of reality" mostraría todo lo esperado y más, evolucionando un paso más hacia el heavy metal como tal, con tema más poderosos, alimentando los mitos que se unen ancestralmente a nuestro género musical, temas como "Children of the grave" del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube.

Ya podemos escuchar los primeros ecos de la nueva y novena obra de estudio de los suecos Dynazty, uno de esos grupos que ha crecido con cada nuevo disco, que se ha ido labrando un futuro a base de hacer bien las cosas y a estas altura, con un nombre hecho y un sonido absolutamente reconocible, siguen adelante en su propuesta con la nueva obra "Game of faces" que verá la luz de forma oficial el 14 de febrero de 2025. Canciones para una vida - Axetasy - Voidcrawler

 

VOIDCRAWLER

Otra joven banda de reciente creación que escoge el camino clásico del heavy metal para expresarse compositivamente, son los alemanes Axetasy, formados en 2019 y que presentandose a través de varios singles espaciados entre 2022 y 2024 darán un paso más al frente editando su primer LP "Withering Tides" el 17 de enero del ya inminente 2025. Así pues descarga energética, nada de aderezos o adornos, velocidad y potencia que traen claramente un aroma ochentero como por ejemplo en su canción "Voidcrawler" de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Judas Priest - Delivering The Goods

DELIVERING  THE  GOODS

Resulta casi obligatorio recurrir ciclicamente a la inmensa e importantísima discografía de Judas para ser justos con el esfuerzo global de la banda, tan influyente como creadora de sonido, y DEL sonido, es una de esas varias bandas a las que se le puede atribuir el origen mismo del heavy metal, uno de los sospechosos habituales y en este caso en concreto con muy fundadas razones. Ya para 1978 editaban su quinto LP de estudio, "Killing Machine" album que para muchos abre la puerta de la banda hacia su época más gloriosa, y para otros es la certificación de un disco heavy metal como tal por vez primera, sea como sea estamos sin duda alguna ante una obra maestra con temas enormes como por ejemplo este "Delivering the goods" del que ahora dejo un enlace a youtube.
