Canciones para una vida - Eregion - Earendil Star

EARENDIL  STAR

Hace tiempo que quiero traer al blog algo de esta banda italiana, Eregion, y siempre, con esa sensación que me daban un tanto "amateur" a pesar del potencial que asomaba terminaba por no animarme. Este 2024, la banda formada en 2012, ya con un camino a sus espaldas, publicarán su tercer LP de estudio, "Non Omnis Moriar", cuya salida oficial se espera para finales de mayo. Se trata de un power metal con algunos tintes sinfónicos, a la manera italiana, con ese aire épico más basado en arreglos que en lo meramente guitarrístico, sin embargo no dejan en absoluto de lado las melodías de guitarra, una banda correcta que va en ascenso, y este 2024 parece ser el del paso al frente respecto a lo anterior, al menos este adelanto, "Earendil Star" me ha dado esa sensación, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

GOD  OF  THUNDER

En estos días en que imagino que a nivel mundial a corrido en los noticiarios la información de que los estadounidenses Kiss han vendido todos los derechos de su nombre e imagen por unos cuantos cientos de millones de dolares, es un buen momento para repasar algo de su discografía y así recordar el por que alguna entidad o empresa ve beneficios potenciales en semejante inversión. Lo que está claro y de lo que no cabe duda alguna es de la posibilidad de recuperar con creces esa inversión, Kiss son una máquina de hacer dinero, ya más allá de lo estrictamente musical, quien no conoce la marca Kiss. Atendiendo a lo musical, el repaso a su discografía deja muestras evidentes de su importancia, desde lo meramente compositivo a lo influyente para bandas posteriores. hoy quiero recuperar su cuarto LP de estudio, "Destroyer", con el que el grupo alcanza en 1976, su año de publicación el disco de platino por primera vez en su carrera, una obra que se abría a terrenos menos crudos, más vendibles y pegajosos, más cliche Kiss en si mismo. De esta obra quiero dejar uno de sus temas, "God of thunder" tema de los más oscuros de la obra y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of Fire - A Brave New Hope

 

A  BRAVE  NEW  HOPE

La fecha escogida por la banda italiana Rhapsody Of Fire para publicar de forma oficial su décimo quinto album de estudio "Challenge the wind" (31 de mayo) se va acercando, y van desgranandose los temas de adelanto que dan muestra de lo que será su nueva obra. Para mi gusto, ya lo he dicho muchas veces, el grupo ha ido ganando mucho desde la salida de Turilli de la banda, hay un claro retorno hacia su obra inicial, con menos sinfonía (que la sigue habiendo) y más sonido metálico, lo que yo agradezco. El tercer adelanto de la obra lleva por título "A brave new hope" y de él dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Orden Ogan - The Order Of Fear

THE  ORDER  OF  FEAR

Ya tenemos a la vista la nueva obra de estudio de los alemanes Orden Ogan, una de esas bandas a las que no me puedo resistir. "The order of fear" será ya el noveno album de estudio de la banda del que se espera su salida oficial el proximo mes de julio, y en estos días nos dejan el segundo adelanto de la citada obra, que es el tema que la dará nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Ya dejaron el primer single "My worst enemy" hace unas semanas y de ella dijeron que era una balada poderosa, en palabras de la propia banda estamos ante uno de los discos más directos y metálicos de su discografía, veremos.

Canciones para una vida - Kiuas - The Pilgrimage

THE  PILGRIMAGE

Los finlandeses Kiuas son una de esas bandas a las que su nombre se le relacionó siempre con la calidad, a pesar de que su existencia como banda tenía una duración de poco más de una década con solo cuatro LP's de estudio, pero su concepto compositivo siempre les sirvió de aval. Su periodo de actividad se extendió entre 2000 y 2011, año en que gran parte de la banda se marcha y tras editar un recopilatorio de grandes éxitos todo hacía creer que la historia de la banda había llegado a su fin definitivo, sin embargo en este 2024 la reactivación compositiva del grupo con una nueva formación ha dado fruto en formato EP, "Samooja: Pyhiinvaellus", donde la banda presenta cuatro temas nuevos líricamente basadas en la saga épica "Samooja", y del que dejo hoy en el blog el tema "The Pilgrimage" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

IN  YOUR  PARK

La banda alemana Scorpions, para estas alturas, mitad de los 70, era ya una banda experimentada, pionera, rompedora, influyente y que había ya saboreado las mieles del éxito. Estamos hablando con este "Virgin Killer" de 1976 del cuarto LP de estudio de la banda, una obra que se encuentra en el momento de suceder al exitoso "In Trance" del año anterior, y que siendo la predecesora del quinto, y aclamado "Taken by force" hace que este "Virgin Killer" sea quizá más conocido y reconocido por temas extraordinarios a lo musical como la portada que por lo importante, que lo tiene y mucho, como es lo compositivo. De este disco quiero dejar en el blog hoy el tema "In your park", haciendo así referencia a uno de los apartados que más ha afamado al estilo de la banda, los medios tiempos y las baladas, sello inconfundible de la banda, y tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gator - Teenage Love

TEENAGE  LOVE

La escena tempranera germana tenía también joyitas ocultas que mostrar, pero poco más allá de Accept o Scorpions trascendía a terrenos internacionales en los incios de la década de los ochenta, pero muchos, como estos Gator, lo intentanban, aunque sea a través de una única obra, como tantos y tantos condenados al anonimato forzoso a pesar de los potenciales evidentes. En muchas ocasiones se quedó todo en una ilusión casi adolescente, que no llegó a más, pero la pasión, la ilusión deberían tener mayor recompensa en no pocas ocasiones. Gatro, formados en la parte final de los setenta y desaparecidos en la inicial de los ochenta, único fruto de su aventura el disco homónimo de 1982, del que dejo hoy en el blog la canción "Teenage Love" como muestra de su innegable potencial, a medio gas, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Una de las bandas de heavy power españolas mas reconocidas internacionalmente, más asentadas e influyentes, editan en este 2024 "Sanctuary of death" el que será su séptimo LP de estudio en una carrera que lleva en activo desde 1999. Canciones para una vida - Sanctuary - Future Tense

FUTURE  TENSE

Sanctuary es una banda estadounidense de esas que se ha movido por diversos subgéneros en su carrera, una vez más y como tantos casos, partida en dos. La primera parte de su carrera se da entre los años 1983 y 1992, luego, sin ser ya la misma banda por las ausencias, por encima de todas la de Warrel Dane, quien tras su salida de Sanctuary formaría Nevermore en la que militaría hasta su fallecimiento en 2017. El caso es que desde 2010 en adelante Sanctuary se reactiva editando un nuevo LP en 2014. En total su discografía 3 LP's y un EP, todos menos el tercer citado disco de su época inicial. Hablamos de heavy metal, groove, thrash y progresivo, saltando de uno a otro género según conveniencia, siempre con la calidad y el buen gusto compositivo de su lado, una banda a la que asomarse. Canciones para una vida - Accept - The Reckoning

THE  RECKONING

El sexto album de estudio de Accept de la era "Tornillo" ya asoma en el horizonte, ya que "Humanoid" se espera para finales de este mes de abril (26 de abril). Estamos encantados todos los seguidores de Accept, y creo que en general los metalheads en su conjunto, que el bueno de Wolf Hoffmann, guitarrista y compositor de la banda, se apoye con tanta confianza en el vocalista para seguir desarrollando la carrera de la banda. Este fundamental grupo sufrió como pocos la salida de su carismático vocalista UDO, y no fue hasta la llegada de Mark Tornillo en 2010 el momento de volver a despegar, de mirar hacia adelante y dar salida a ya seis obras de estudio de nivelón, discos que sino se habrían quedado en el limbo, lo que resulta triste. "Humanoid" va dejando ya un par de adelantos, como este "The reckoning" que dejo hoy en el blog y que muestra el enorme estado de forma de la banda, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Wintersun - The Steel Of The Gods

THE  STEEL  OF  THE  GODS

Wintersun, o lo que es lo mismo Jari Maempaa están de vuelta en este 2024, y como suele ser común en lo que se refiere en general a este genial músico sus presentaciones de material nuevo no son comunes, y en este caso, aprovechando que tras muchos años de esfuerzo compositivo, de pelearse consigo mismo para dar la forma deseada a su disco "Time II", sucesor de la primera parte, el músico ha decidido sacra un montón de material nuevo y no, como si sacase de repente todo el material que tenía escondido y no sacaba con el atasco de "Time II", solo esquivado con "The forest seasons" de 2017. El músico ya ha declarado su alivio tras poder decir que había terminado con "Time II" y su problema real con la obra se dio a la hora de la grabación, de llegar a todo lo que tenía en su cabeza y lograr canalizarlo en la grabación lo que le llevo a quemarse y aparcarlo. Con la llegada de agosto saldrá a la venta "Time II" y además este "Time Package" que recoge mucho material regular y adicional, incluyendo a lo largo de 12 discos la versión regular de Time II, y varias versiones diferentes de la misma obra, "The forest seasons" con variantes, canciones nuevas en versión demo y un disco que ha llamado "Fantasy metal project" con diez temas entre los que estará este "The steel of the gods" que dejo hoy en el blog, desde luego este músico se sale de lo común, en todos los sentidos, dejo un enlace a youtube de este "The steel of the gods".

VICTIM  OF  CHANGES

En ese eterno e irresoluble debate de quien fue la primera banda en practicar heavy metal al uso, lo que no puede extrañar a nadie es que en todas las quinielas, del puñado de bandas de las que se habla siempre esté Judas Priest optando al título, y es que cuando se compara el sonido tempranero de la banda con lo que se hacía en la época no cabe ninguna duda de que el heavy metal es algo inherente al grupo. Es siempre por ello una casi obligación para cualquier metalhead mantener vivo el recuerdo de las primeras obras de la banda por su valor tanto histórico como compositivo en si mismas. El segundo trabajo del grupo llevó por título "Sad wings of destiny" de 1976, se afianzaban, despertaban miradas y comenzaban su sendero de referente para millones de bandas posteriores. Canciones para una vida - Achelous - Into The Shadows

INTO  THE  SHADOWS

La carrera de los griegos Achelous va ganando en consistencia obra tras obra como demuestra el último trabajo publicado por la banda hace tan solo unos días, "Tower of high sorcery" editado este 22 de marzo de forma oficial. Como vienen haciendo desde el inicio de su carrera heavy power metal de corte épico, en la línea de tantas bandas griegas y muchas italianas que escogen ese concepto compositivo donde se logran las atmósferas épicas a través de melodías sin artificios sintetizados, y a través de coros. Otra muestra de la madurez que va alcanzando la banda es la colaboración con artistas reputados, en el caso del tema que hoy dejo en el blog nada menos que Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin, voz de Jag Panzer por ejemplo, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Otra banda de las que estuvieron dando el callo a comienzos de la historia del heavy metal como tal, en la parte inicial, en plena explosión de la NWOBHM, los británicos "Quartz" quienes en principio desarrollaron una carrera breve, separandose demasiado temprano a juzgar por la magnitud de sus obras iniciales, sobre todo este "Stand up and fight" que de nuevo hoy traigo al blog, pero que desde 2011, como muchas bandas coetáneas a ellos han hecho, viven un segundo periodo de actividad edtando un par más de LP's. Por supuesto hablamos de heavy metal de corte clásico, y este segundo LP de estudio del grupo llega en 1980, como digo en plena explosión de bandas y del heavy metal como tal. Canciones para una vida - TYR - Hammered

 

HAMMERED

La verdad es que el pasado LP de TYR, "Hel" de 2019 no me dejó un gran sabor de boca, si unimos a la tardanza compositiva que el disco tuvo ya que su predecesor era de 2013 el hecho compositivo en si mismo, luego la salida en 2018 del guitarrista Terji, se me antojaba un futuro un tanto lúgubre para la continuidad de la banda. Si a todo ello le añadimos que entre "Hel" y este "Battle Ballads" ha pasado otro lustro la verdad es que no daba un duro por que el grupo siguiera adelante, sin embargo, este 2024 ha destapado su noveno disco de estudio y además, a juzgar por sus adelantos a un nivel muy superior al de sus dos trabajos anteriores, lo que me llena de alegría cara al futuro del grupo y el sendero compositivo que puedan escoger, El segundo de los adelantos de este "Battle Ballads" lleva por titulo "Hammered" y de él dejo un enlace a youtube.
