Canciones para una vida - Gillan - Running White Face City Boy

 

RUNNING,  WHITE  FACE,  CITY  BOY

Volvamos otra vez a las raices, al porqué de nuestro sonido, a los pioneros, en esta ocasión encarnados en la figura del músico Ian Gillan, el británico que militase también en Deep Purple, para tratar después de desarrollar una carrera al margen de dicha banda bajo su nombre. El cantante contribuyó con su propia visión a poner los mimbres de lo que vendría después, es clara influencia para muchas bandas, muy parecido a lo de Blackmore con Rainbow recién publicado en el blog, aunque la proyección de Gillan fue menor y menos reconocida, pero igualmente respetable, influyente y reseñable. En 1980 la banda editaba su tercer LP de estudio, como siempre entre ese incipiente heavy metal y un hard rock primigenio, a medio camino. El citado LP se tituló "Glory Road" y de él quiero hoy dejar a modo de ejemplo la fantástica "Running white face city boy", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube. Canciones para una vida - Rainbow - All Night Long

 

ALL  NIGHT  LONG

No podía faltar en el blog una de esas bandas unidas a un nombre sobre todo, inmenso, pero no solo, también a muchos otros en un momento u otro, tambien gigantes en esto de la música, otra de esas bandas fundamentales por lo hecho, la influencia, la historia, son "Rainbow". El nombre tras la creación es Ritchie Blackmore, un mito al que no hace falta presentar. La banda unió además las sendas musicales de nombres como Dio, Cozy Powel, Don Airey, Graham Bonnet, Bobby Rondinelli, Joe Lynn Turner, o Doogey White entre otros, menudo plantel, casi eso justificaría en si mismo la calidad. Rainbow nace en 1975, una vez más como vehiculo natural del músico Ritchie Blackmore para dar salida a material bajo su propia perspectiva que de otra forma no salidría con su por entonces banda madre Deep Purple, de hecho, Blackmore deja Deep Purple en la parte inicial del nacimiento de Rainbow. Quizá pretendía dar un giro menos heavy a su sonido, aunque los inicios de Rainbow, sobre todo también gracias a la voz de Dio no terminaban de ir por ese camino. En 1978 Dio sale de la banda y es sustituido por Graham Bonnet, con quien hace un giro más hard rockero. En ese momento de su historia, en 1979, editan "Down To Earth", el cuarto ya LP de la banda, El primero con Bonnet y sin Dio, y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas, concretamente el que abre el disco, "All night long", y que irá en el blog etiquetado con la fecha 1980 ya que en ese año fue editado en formato maxi single con el tema instrumental "Weiss Heim" también muy recomendable y que no aparecía en el citado album, un tema este "All night long" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Stratovarius - The Kiss Of Judas

 

THE  KISS  OF  JUDAS

Indudablemente, en el mejor momentos de su carrera en lo que a popularidad se refiere e igualmente en lo referente a la composición, los finlandeses Stratovarius eran referente del sonido que iba a copar gran parte del sonido metálico de los años finales de los 90 y la primera mitad de los 2000, el llamado "Europower". El equilibrio en este LP es total, la obra se ha ganado un lugar de privilegio en los corazones de muchos metalheads, y con todo merecimiento, y hoy quiero dejar en el blog uno de sus temas icónicos, "The kiss of judas" del que hoy quiero dejar un enlace a youtube en el blog.

Canciones para una vida - Hammerfall - Hammerfall

 

HAMMERFALL

La verdad es que plantearse hablar de esta banda resulta siempre cansado desde el punto de vista de las posiciones adquiridas por todos, la banda con su rol impuesto de banda sin talento o la de muchos metalheads que considerarían que perderían lustre metálico reconociendo que les gusta su material o la banda en general, es demasiado recurrente, y cansado, la verdad. Lo que es innegable por parte de todos, o así debería ser, es la importancia de la banda, de su carrera, de su contribución, y desde luego, aparte de esto, están los gustos personales, completamente respetables. La primera obra de los suecos se me antoja particularmente importante para su devenir como banda unido al impecable sucesor "legacy of kings" del año siguiente. Era 1997, un momento clave para editar un disco debut de tal calibre, tan ilusionante para banda como para oyentes y de dicho LP quiero hoy dejar en el blog otro de sus temas, en concreto "Hammerfall" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Andi Deris - The King Of Seven Eyes

 

THE  KING  OF  7  EYES

Es desde siempre muy común que los miembros de otras bandas busquen su propio camino alejados de sus bandas madres para dar salida a temas propios o a una visión externa que no cabría en las citadas bandas en que militan. Esto es siempre más notorio a medida que la banda es más conocida como es lógico, y en ese marco encontramos la carrera en solitario del vocalista de Helloween Andi Deris. Tampoco es que su proyecto en paralelo a Helloween haya sido alimentado en exceso, (solo tres LP's) y muy dispersos, dos a finales de los 90 y otro a comiezos de los 10. Estamos hablando de un material a medio caminos de lo hecho con Helloween, y su época espectacular con Pink Cream 69, hablamos de momentos más power y de giros más heavy hard heavy,. Para mi gusto el primero de sus intentos por su cuenta, "Come in from th rain" de 1997, es el mejor de sus LPs, muy completo, con grandes momentos, varios, la nota media de la obra se me antoja medio alto, facil, relativamente variado y entretenido. Canciones para una vida - Avalanch - Horizonte Eterno

 

HORIZONTE  ETERNO

Desde el inicio de su carrera, la banda española "Avalanch" siempre me ha parecido de lo mejorcito de nuestro país, han ido evolucionando, pasando por diferentes periodos compositivos y son ya muchos los años a través de ya cuatro décadas diferentes los que los de Rionda van regalandonos su sonido que ha llegado a tener esa personalidad reconocible sin negar nunca ese paso necesario a no dejar de evolucionar, pero manteniendo el contacto suficiente y necesario para no perderse por caminos demasiado alejados de las raices. Si bien sus inicios fueron hijos de la época en que nacieron, por lo tanto bastante power metaleros, el componente progresivo les ha ido acercando a muchos otros nichos compositivos sin encuadrarles en ninguno en concreto, dicho esto sea como una virtud. A pesar del gran número de músicos que han pasado a lo largo de los años por sus filas, Alberto Rionda siempre permanece detrás, omnipresente, motro y alma de la banda, para dejar su huella en cada obra, en cada época, y parece que se abre una nueva ante nosotros, con una nueva reorganización de miembros, alguno de ellos ya más estable y de la talla de por ejemplo Mike Terrana a la batería, como nombre absolutamente reconocido y reconocible. Estrenan para la ocasión cantante, para mí el desconocido José Pardial, que a juzgar por el primer adelanto "Horizonte Eterno" de la nueva obra, "El dilema de los dioses", promete darnos grandes momentos al micro. FURY  OF  THE  GODS

Finalmente ha trascendido el título y la fecha de edición oficial de la banda internacional diseñada por la discográfica "AFM", "All For Metal". La obra se llamará "Legends" y la fecha veraniega de salida será el siete de julio. Para aprovechar dicho anuncio han adelantado su cuarto tema "Fury Of The gods". En lo musicla nada nuevo respecto a lo anteriormente publicado, parece fácil intuir de que va a ir la obra y la banda con lo ya expuesto. THE  DARK  TOWER

Poco a poco va desarrollandose la carrera musical de esta banda, "Burning Witches", las suizas que centran su sonido en un concepto clásico y que solo desde 2015 en que se formaron han editado ya cuatro LP's de estudio, y el inminente quinto "The dark tower" cuya salida oficial se espera para mitad de mayo. A todo esto hay que añadirle dos trabajos más en formato EP, lo que habla de un compromiso grande por alcanzar la cima. Canciones para una vida - Lanzer - Gods Of War

 

GODS  OF  WAR

Segundo y último trabajo en formato LP editado por los alemanes "Lanzer", un grupo que siempre se dedicó al heavy metal con guiños hard n' heavy. El citado segundo trabajo en largo formato llevó por título "Under a different sky" editado en 1995, un tanto tardío para una propuesta que como digo versa estilísticamente en un heavy metal de corte clásico aunque la portada pudiese sugerir un power o heavy power más acorde a la época y que aquí no se dá. De todas maneras es un material interesante, que una vez más habla de una carrera que puiese haber ofrecido más longevidad y sobre todo más productividad, pero tras esta obra nada más se ha sabido del grupo en lo referente a lo compositivo. Como dato interesante de la obra sobre todo el de las colaboraciones de lujo, como Kai Hansen en uno de los temas, Chris Bay en otro pas de ellas o Sascha Paeth en otro, ahí es nada. Canciones para una vida - Powerwolf - No Prayer At Midnight

 

NO  PRAYER  AT  MIDNIGHT

Los germanos Powerwolf siguen a lo suyo, muy adaptados a la forma moderna de venderse, esa continuidad total de mostrar novedades, vendiendolas perfectamente en formatos conocidos o novedosos, en esta época en que las cosas son tan volátiles, permanecer en la retina del gran público de manera asidua se antoja casi fundamental, y en este 2023 bajo el nombre de "Interludium" editarán una nueva obra en formato LP pero con seis temas nuevos completados con rarezas del toda su carrera. En estos días lanzan uno de los seis temas nuevos en el anzuelo, para tratar de pescar ventas, "No prayer at midnight" en formato "Powerwolf", sinónimo de éxito como demuestran sus grandes datos de ventas de entradas en sus shows en vivo a nivel planetario. Canciones para una vida - Altar Of The King - Fire

 

FIRE

Una banda más de esas "monodisco", en este caso enmarcada en la década de los 90 y en el género thrash o heavy speed thrash. Llegaban quizá un pelín tarde a este tipo de sonido, más que nada para pretender despuntar sonando así con tantas bandas ya consolidadas que eran las que se comian el pastel en lo que al género se refiere, en ese momento lo novedoso era mucho más nuevo, nuevas fusiones, en ocasiones mucho menos acertadas a mis oidos (sobre todo el grunge) atraian las miradas, el despuntar del power actual, etc hacían que las bandas que apostaban por ese tipo de thrash siendo desconocidas no llegasen al gran público. Desde luego los estadounidenses "Altar of the King" sonaban bien, gustarán a los amantes del thrash clásico y de escuela americana y solo dejaron la cítada única muestra títulada como el nombre de la banda, "Altar Of The King" en 1994 para después diluirse en el anonimato del que nunca llegaron a salir, a pesar, una vez más, del potencial demostrado. Canciones para una vida - Yngwie Malmsteen - Seventh Sign

 

SEVENTH  SIGN

Que interesante época en la carrera musical del sueco Yngwie, el periodo de los 90, sobre todo la primera mitad donde editó tres LP's remarcables por varios motivos, también por la calidad de los miembros que acompañaron al genio de las seis cuerdas. "The seventh sign" de 1994 debía coger el testigo del fantástico "Fire and ice" de 1992, y para la ocasión se rodeó por ejemplo de Michael Vescera, vocalista que siempre me ha encantado, sobre todo en sus comienzos con Obsession, o Mike Terrana a la batería, si a ello añadimos el buen momento compositivo como mínimo solo puede resultar interesante. THE  WARRIOR

Existen bandas que alcanzan un estatus bastante mítico a pesar de haber desarrollado su carrera en el sotano de la escena internacional, siempre basandose en material de grandisima calidad pero lastrado por las posibilidades económicas y de promoción, no de composición. En este marco encontramos un gran exponente en los germanos "Attack", con un heavy power desde el comienzo de su carrera, a comienzos de los 80, y desde mediados de diche década mostrando ese potencial que por desgracia nunca salto a primera línea lo que sin duda habría tenido que cambiar su sino. A pesar de mostrarse en activo llevan desde 1995 en silenciom editando cinco LP's de estudio, el quinto de ellos "The secret place", como digo de 1995, y del que hoy dejo en el blog otro de sus temas, el fantástico "The Warrior", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Sigue desgranando detalles la nueva obra del sueco Magnus Karlsson, "Hunt the flame" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de abril. Estamos ante su segundo single "Far from home" en el que Magnus cuenta con la colaboración del cantante chileno James Robledo, artista que si bien no ha despuntado en bandas muy grandes o conocidas si que va creciendo en la escena internacional y que no sería sorprendente que con colaboraciones de este nivel y su buen hacer termine dando el salto a alguna formación de primera línea. Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Morning Star

 

MORNING  STAR

Solo un músico o una banda de las verdaderamente prolíficas pueden ser capaces de editar nada menos que seis discos recopilatorios de baladas, (de momento) en una carrera musical en la que ese apartado compositivo han alcanzado una verdadera dimensión de importancia y un gran peso específico. Axel Rudi Pell es el mejor ejemplo de ello, y la prueba definitiva de que el sonido metálico necesita de ese contrapunto compositivo que equilibre la potencia con la calma. En este recopilatorio se incluyen cinco temas nuevos, entre canciones nuevas, instrumentales nuevas, versiones nuevas y temas recopilados desde la aparición de su "The Ballads V" de 2017. El primer adelanto de "The ballads VI" que verá la luz de forma oficial en abril es "Morning Star", la única canción nueva vocal que incluirá la obra, tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
