DECEMBER

Vamos hoy con el tema inédito de esta especie de reedición, edición especial, o como uno quiera denominarlo, del último LP de los germanos Orden Ogan, quienes en este 2022 se mantienen en las noticias metálicas planetarias un poco "ordeñando la vaca" del éxito pero al tiempo viviendo de las rentas, algo en un filo peligroso en un mundillo como el nuestro tran proclive a destronar reyes y cambiar de camisa según el momento de cada cual y que cada banda atraviese. El tema inédito escogido para justificar quizá esta version de "Final Days" se titula "December" y de él dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, sonido "made in Orden Ogan" desde luego.

ALL  AS  ONE

Redundando en la idea ya expuesta sobre esta banda y obra, el cuarto disco de estudio de estos finlandeses "Brymir" no es sino una confirmación de varias cosas, de que la banda ha encontrado definitivamente su propia senda, de que a medida que van pasando las obras va ganando en calidad, en peso específico y el crecimiento evidente del grupo se ha plasmado en este 2022 en forma de "Voices in the sky" del que hoy dejo en el blog otro más de sus temas, en este caso la contundente con alma de medio tiempo "All as one" temazo del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gladenfold - Gloria Eternal

 

GLORIA  ETERNAL

Los finlandeses "Gladenfold" son una banda que desde sus primeros días, desde su primera muestra compositiva siempre llamaron mi atención, y desde entonces vengo siguiendo su trayectoria, ya desde 2003, primer material en 2006. Pero, con este disco, "Nemesis" de este 2022, el que supone ya su tercer LP, he de reconocer que me ha coxtado más decidirme por un tema que presentar en el blog, no se si será algo personal, de no tener el momento, o es que ha habido un cierto giro en su propuesta, quizá hacia unas atmósferas más oscuras, aunque ese no suele ser problema para mí, el caso es que en esencia el sonido es bastante en la línea del grupo, sin grandes cambios, con guiños tanto al death melódico como base como al power como segunda elección. El tema que he querido escoger para dejar en el blog se titula "Gloria Eternal", con bastante de esa esencia de siempre de la banda, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

BLINDING  LIGHTS

Ya están de vuelta los germanos "Feuerschwanz" con su propuesta, ultimamente más metálica, siempre interesante y que en este 2022 presentan el album "Todsunden" donde utilizan material ajeno para darle el sello propio de la banda, con todos los ingredientes del grupo, para temas de dentro y fuera del mundillo metálico. El album verá la luz el 30 de diciembre, parece que se apuntan a una tradición pues hará justo un año en esa fecha que presentaron su anterior trabajo "Memento Mori". El primero de los adelantos de esta especie de recopilatorio de versiones de bandas se titula "Blinding Lights", originalmente compuesto por el canadiense "The Weeknd" de un ambito fuera de nuestro mundillo, pero que Feuerschwanz hace suyo, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube

EXILE  OF  THE  GODS

Segundo single que la banda suiza "Eluveitie" nos deja en este 2022 a pesar de que, al menos yo, no tengo constancia alguna de la presentación de un nuevo LP a fecha de esta reseña. "Exile of the gods" es un tema que parece seguir la tendencia de volver un poco a las raices, a esos momentos de su carrera entre los 2000 y los 10 donde deslumbraron al planeta metálico  con esa propuesta algo folk y muy contundente y agresiva, algo que luego abandonaron en cierta medida, perdiendo un poco esa identidad compositiva de "Slania", que ultimamente parecen intentar recuperar. Canciones para una vida - Hellanbach - Out To Get You

 

OUT  TO  GET  YOU

El movimiento británico de la NWOBHM es algo realmente extenso, lleno de bandas sobre todo desconocidas, muchas de ellas de una brevedad absoluta, con carreras que apenas comenzaron antes de desaparecer, y que por desgracia en muchas ocasiones la limitación tecnica de la producción hacía de sus demos o LP's un asunto casi de cabezonería por parte del oyente. El espiritu del movimiento sin embargo cambió el heavy metal global, y más allá de los grandes nombres, otros, como "Hellanbach" hacían su parte en el reverso más oscuro del mismo. Siempre estamos hablando de heavy metal clásico, que en estos británicos se desarrollo a lo largo de solo dos LP's de estudio y un EP inicial, "Out to get you", de 1980, del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog el tema que le da nombre, del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Nuevo adelanto del próximo trabajo de estudio de los italianos White Skull "Metal never rusts" que verá la luz de forma oficial esta próxima semana. El nuevo tema, "Ad maiora semper" confirma la continuidad sonora de la banda en el concepto que llevan ya desarrollando durante tres décadas en el que será su undécimo LP de estudio, que hace prometer a los seguidores del grupo una obra que disfrutarán. Canciones para una vida - Powerwolf - My Will Be Done

 

MY  WILL  BE  DONE

Parece cada vez más común que las bandas mantengan un contacto casi continuo con sus fans a través de material publicado en un formato diferente al de un LP standard, variadas fórmulas de supervivencia en un mercado quizá demasiado saturado como para confiar en la fidelidad del gran público sin dar un plus cada poco tiempo. Powerwolf se suma a esa ola, tratando de innovar como en el caso de su "The Monument Mass a cinematic event" de 2021 que no deja de ser un disco en directo en streaming, o en una onda más clásica como el lanzamiento de un tema nuevo en formato single acompañado por dos versiones extra del mismo, orquestal e instrumental. El tema en cuestión se titula "My will be done" y de él dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, marketing y buen sonido "made in Powerwolf" de la mano, que tampoco tiene por qué estar peleado.

Otro ejemplo más de lo que viene a ser el sello sonoro de los escoceses Alestorm, y esa capacidad de generar canciones que se meten en tu cabeza a la primera. poco que añadir más allá de dejar la canción en sí, "Magyarorszag", perteneciente al, a fecha de esta reseña, último LP de la banda "Seventh rum of a seventh rum" de este 2022, una de las obras importantes del año, aunque sea solo por el nombre que se ha hecho ya la banda, un tema del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Hay obras y bandas cuya fama merecida, cuya sola mención es sinónimo de éxito, de reconocimiento, de heavy metal en sí mismo, y algunos, como el caso de esta banda y obra, Judas Priest y su "British Steel" que lo son aún más si cabe, por el disco en sí, por la trayectoria de la banda, por el momento histórico en si mismo y del grupo, por su capacidad de influencia en otros gigantes o desconocidos, en general por un cúmulo de circunstancias que hacen de este particular uno de los hitos metálicos de la historia de nuestra música. Canciones para una vida - E.F. Band - Fighting For Rock And Roll

 

FIGHTING  FOR  ROCK  AND  ROLL

Un poco en la línea de lo dicho en la anterior entrada del blog, recupero hoy a otra banda de esa época, de los inicios mismos del heavy metal, en esta ocasión procedentes de la escena sueca, por aquel entonces aún en pañales en lo metálico, y en este caso el grupo se llama "E.F. Band" quienes tuvieron un periodo de actividad entre 1978 y 1987, en clave de heavy metal, sonido a lo NWOBHM, que en 1980 fueron igualmente incluidos en el recopilatorio promocional "Metal for muthas" que mostraba el potencial de muchas bandas incipientes o desconocidas, (en este caso de E.F. Band ambas cosas) y que ha terminado por ser un recopilatorio de culto. Solo tres LP's componen la discografía de la banda, 1981, 1982 y 1985, y el tema promocional que hoy dejo en el blog, el incluido en el mencionado "Metal for muthas" de 1980, "Fighting for rock and roll" no se incluyó en ninguno de ellos, una canción que mostraba el potencial de la banda, de hecho Anders Allhage, lo que es igual que Andy LaRocque participa en el tercero de los albumes del grupo, antes de su separación yendose a Kind Diamond. Canciones para una vida - Nutz - Bootliggers

 

BOOTLIGGERS

Este blog trata de abarcar la época de existencia del heavy metal como tal, una labor casi imposible por cierto, pues si eres sincero contigo mismo sabrás que por cada banda que conoces hay seguro que cien que desconoces, por mucha dedicación que le pongas a esto del heavy metal nunca dejas de descubrir grupos nuevos o viejos que eran un mistario para tí, al menos eso me sucede a mí, y a esto hay que añadir la época anterior a ese periodo que trato de abarcar en el blog, desde 1980 en adelante, por no referirme a los géneros y subgéneros, que entran y salen de las categorias haciendo un todo dificil de acotar. Hoy quiero rescatar una banda de esas que desarrollan su carrera antes de 1980, y que además se centraban más en un enfoque pre hard rockero, pre heavy metálico, pre NWOBHM, los británicos "Nutz", quienes publican 3 LP's de estudio entre 1973 y 1981 en que se separan. Me quiero referir a una canción casi salida de ninguna parte, no perteneciente a sus LP's regulares, y aparecida en el conocido recopilatorio de 1980 "Metal For Muthas" donde Iron Maiden encabezaba a un grupo de banda por entonces desconocidas en su mayoría, entre ellas Nutz, que parecían planear un cambio hacia ese estilo incipiente de la NWOBHM, un tema llamado "Bootliggers" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube y que no fue sino un canto de cisne que mostraba el potencial casi maideniano de la banda antes de desaparecer.

Canciones para una vida - Blind Guardian - Let It Be No More

 

LET  IT  BE  NO  MORE

Sin ningún género de dudas hacía tiempo que un LP de Blind Guardian no me gustaba tanto, un giro decidido hacia el sonido clásico digamos de la banda, hacia los discos de la década de los 90, con una propuesta menos sinfónica o arreglada, y una serie de canciones más rápidas y vocalmente agresivas. Quizá la banda se había obsesionado ultimamente con la creación de atmósferas a base de arreglos, dejando un tanto de lado el origen speedico de sus primeros años, quizá la salida de su material casi de banda sonora, "Twilight Orchestra" de 2019 haya abierto de nuevo la puerta al enfoque primigenio, lo cual a mi personalmente me ha parecido un gran acierto, un disco para disfrutar en su conjunto, compacto, con momentos incluso para los clásico medios tiempos construidos a la antigua usanza, casi un poco a la manera de "Demons and Wizards" como es el caso de "Let it be no more", de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Judicator - Ursa Major

 

URSA  MAJOR

Se acerca el momento de la presentación oficial del sexto LP de estudo de los estadounidenses "Judicator", exactamente para el 25 de noviembre. Sin duda alguna parece que la banda ha alcanzado ya un nivel de confianza, de afianzamiento y consolidados cada paso que han ido dando parece en la buena dirección. Siempre queda en el aire esa sensación de encontrar en su influencia compositiva tanto a la escuela europea como a la estadounidense, siempre dentro del power como marco musical. El sexto LP llevará por título "The majesty of decay" y parece que será una obra conceptual de la que hoy dejo en el blog su tema "Ursa Major" como aperitivo, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a oyutube.

Un poco en la línea de pensamiento de la anterior entrada del blog sobre Rage, quiero hoy dejar el nuevo material de estudio de los suecos Sabaton, otro grupo que como digo, se apunta a la idea de "ordeñar la vaca" con la excusa de dar material nuevo a los fans. En realidad por sorpresa la banda ha anunciado la presentación de una trilogía de EP's que seguiran con la temática de la primera guerra mundial, en la que se incluye un tema nuevo y cinco temas escogidos de su discografía. Realmente uno no puede evitar pensar en el afan recaudatorio y la maniobra de marketing para vender un puñado de temas nuevos en lugar de haciendolo en un único EP, en tres, pero bueno, es parte del negocio musical y los seguidores de la banda y de su sonido seguro que lo celebrarán. El título de este primer EP de la trilogía es "Weapons of the modern age" y el de su tema nuevo "Father", canción de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.
