Canciones para una vida - The Ferrymen - One Word

 

ONE  WORD

Ya está punto de salir a la venta la tercera entrega del proyecto internacional "The Ferrymen", que llevará por título "One More River To Cross", cuya fecha oficial de salida será el 22 de enero de este inminente 2022. Hablar de este proyecto es hablar de nombres que actualmente gozan de una merecida fama, tales como Magnus Karlsson a la guitarra, Ronnie Romero a la voz o Mike Terrana a la bateria, todos ellos argumentos en si mismos para prestarle toda la atención a la banda que va ya por la citada tercera entrega lo que les da de pleno derecho ya el estatus de banda como tal más que el de proyecto paralelo. El caso es que son músicos que gustan mucho de los proyectos variados y son proclives a este tipo de colaboraciones, que veremos en este caso la vida que terminan teniendo, de momento desde 2016. El primero de los adelantos lleva por nombre "One Word" donde vuelven a utilizar ese power "aprogresivado" muy a lo Masterplan, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

THE  BEAST  FROM  THE  BLACKNESS

Iron Fire ya lleva apareciendo en varias ocasiones en el blog y las que vendrán, desde luego merecidamente, desde su demoledor y espectacular debut "Thunderstorm" dejaron claro que lo suyo era hacer su sonido personal, propio, que han sabido perpetuar e ir afilando obra tras obra, y ya van 9 en más de veinticinco años de carrera. La quinta de sus obras, "To the grave", de 2009, no es una excepción en el universo personal power de la banda, de corte europeo, con muchos de los argumentos que una obra de este subgénero debería tener siempre si existiera un manual de como hacerlo, calidad incuetionable que domina la obra en su conjunto, desde el tema que la abre por ejemplo, "The beast from the blackness" de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

POISON  INSIDE  MY  HEART

"Poison Inside my heart" es uno de los temas que componen el último de los trabajos de los suecos Eclipse, de título "Wired" del presente 2021, uno de esos temas que representan otra de sus características compositivas, la de las canciones más tranquilitas, de esas vestidas con piel de medio tiempo pero con la capacidad de darte un plus en el sentido de la energía, son temas que tienen esa virtud de satisfacerte en lo más melancólico tanto como al tiempo darte esa dosis energética, una faceta en la que una vez más Eclipse se han hecho unos maestros. La verdad es que la obra en su conjunto es destacable, recomendable, pero es que realmente toda su discografía a lo largo ya de dos décadas es remarcable. Canciones para una vida - Gravety - Tower Of Ghenjei

 

TOWER  OF  GHENJEI

Gravety es una banda alemana de esas que han mirado un poco a los inicios del sonido metálico para realizar un concepto propio pero que huele a ese metal épico clásico de la escuela de los primeros Manowar si se quiere, quitando en realidad bastantes cosas, sobre todo "parafernalia", pero en lo sonoro pueden darse un aire en momentos , así para acotar su sonido. Realmente la banda tiene ya una cierta trayectoria a sus espaldas a pesar de no haber transcendido su trabajo demasiado de momeno. Así, desde 2009 en que se forman han editado solo dos LP's de estudio "Into the grave" de 2012, con una aire un tanto más "Thrash" que se ha tormado en ese mayor enfoque mencionado "epic", "old school", en su segundo LP de este 2021 de título "Bow Down", de la que hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de sus canciones, "Tower Of Ghenjei", buen ejemplo de la capacidad compositiva de la banda y de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Grailknights - Turbo Boost

 

TURBO  BOOST

El sexto LP de estudio de los alemanes "Grailknights" tendrá por título "Muscle bound for glory" y verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de febrero del ya tan cercano 2022, y de dicha obra nos llegan en estos días sus  primeros ecos en forma de single de adelanto, "Turbo Boost". Ya todos los que conocen a la banda saben lo que pueden esperar, desde la perspectiva compositiva una mezcla entre death melódico y power metal de alta calidad, y desde la perspectiva de actitud, cero seriedad, temáticas de humor de lo más variado, como por ejemplo en este citado primer single de adelanto esta versión del "Coche fantástico". Siempre es fácil en sus temas descubrir el tremendo potencial para haberse planteado una carrera más "seria" pero ellos han decidido quitarle "hierro" al asunto, que no "metal", para marcarse una carrera absolutamente original. Otro ejemplo de buen hacer es este "Turbo Boost" con la colaboración de "Feuerschwanz", del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Metal Wallpaper BBM - Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

IRON MAIDEN  -  THE  NUMBER  OF  THE  BEAST  -  (1982)

 

Si hay algo claro en lo que a Iron Maiden se refiere es que su tercer album de estudio es de los más importantes de la banda por varios motivos. "The Number of the beast" de 1982 marcaba el cambio de vocalista en la banda con la entrada de nada menos que Bruce Dickinson, quien en ese momento no era del todo conocido a pesar de su gran trabajo con Samson pero terminaría significando un importante punto de inflexión para la banda en los años venideros. Más allá de la calidad de esta obra respecto a las predecesoras, que creo que no deja de ser algo subjetivo, lo que está claro es que la obra cuenta con auténticos himnos que han llegado al estátus de clásicos no solo de la banda sino del propio heavy metal. Reconocido con el tiempo como la obra maestra que es en sus inicios la supuesta, y recalco lo de supuesta temática satánica provocó multitud de situaciones de rechazo a la obra en Estados Unidos, tontos hay en todos lados. El caso es que como digo la calidad se terminaría por imponer y el reconocimiento terminaría por llegar desde todas las partes del globo a través de las cifras de ventas acumuladas en muchos paises. En lo referentte al artwork una vez más Derek Riggs se salió. Como dato curioso la portada en principio se creó para el single "Purgatory", considerándosela demasiado buena para "malgastarla" en un single y se decide dejarla para el siguiente trabajo, un nuevo acierto. El caso es que todo lo que provenga de Iaron Maiden tiene un estatus especial, más grande, casi con aire de mito y en gran parte se debe a la época ochentera de la banda, sobre todo a la parte inicial, donde la banda irrumpió de tal manera, tan arrolladoramente, tanto en lo sonoro como en lo estético que todo lo que de ella ha nacido esta completamente justificado. dejo hoy el artwork de la obra, todo un clásico este "The Number Of the Beast" de 1982.

POWER  OF  WILL

Ya llegan los primeros detalles en profundidad del que será octavo LP de estudio de los suecos "Dynazty", una banda que sigue en crecimiento obra tras obra y que a juzgar por su adelanto "Power of will" sigue en esa senda. La obra verá la luz de forma oficial en el mes de abril y tras revelar su portada nos dejan este tema con el que la abrirán. Según la banda tras la salida de su anterior obra "The Dark Delight" y su imposibilidad de girar presentándolo por el tema que todos ya conocemos demasiado bien, decidieron sentarse a escribir otro album, y en el querían plasmar toda la energía y fuerza posible, a modo de disco inspirativo y fuente de motivación para cuando uno atraviesa momentos dificiles, como para todos está siendo esta época del Covid. El caso es que según ellos están ante su obra más redonda y con algunos de sus temas más potentes. Canciones para una vida - Rhapsody Of fire - The Kingdom Of Ice

 

THE  KINGDOM  OF  ICE

En el fondo no deja de ser algo digno de mención, y en cierto modo un resumen de lo que pasa en demasiadas ocasiones en muchos grupos, lo que sucede con Rhapsody, y me refiero a la magnífica obra que se ha sacado de la manga la banda encabezada por Staropolli, quien fue casi "abandonado" a su suerte cuando los nombres que más deslumbraban tras los Rhapsody originales se fueron marchando de la banda. Ha dejado claro el bueno del teclista italiano que no solo tenía parte importante en los mejores momentos de la banda, (para mi gusto los iniciales), sino que ha ido recuperando el nivel progresivamente hasta rayar a la gran altura que este "Glry for salvation" ha demostrado. Si a eso unimos el rumbo compositivo de Turilli y Lione, sus bandas y participaciones queda ya patentemente claro quien y que dentro de la historia de este grupo tan importante para el power sinfónico. El caso es que esa vuelta a los orígenes, simplificando bastante lo que llego a ser un recargamiento excesivo y basandose en lo mostrado en los primeros albumes queda plasmado por ejemplo en este otro tema que hoy dejo en el blog, "The Kingdom Of ice", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Crom - Into The Glory land

 

INTO  THE  GLORY  LAND

Por fin señales de vida compositivas de la banda alemana "Crom", o lo que es lo mismo de Walter  Grosse que tradicionalmente se ha encargado de todo en dicha formación, desde lo compositivo a lo interpretativo, y que como novedad para el nuevo material, desde 2018 ha incorporado a dos músicos más para que le ayuden  en la batería y la guitarra en este proyecto ,  que lleva en activo, así a lo tonto ya desde 1997. Solo tres LP's componen la discografía de esta banda, (2008, 2011 y 2017), a los que ahore se añade este EP, "Into the glory land" compuesto por cinco temas, entre los que se incluyen dos versiones, una propia en acústico y otra de Bathory. Una vez más se distinguen todos los elementos de la música de Crom, una banda que nos va dejando demasiado a cuentagotas su magnífico material, esperemos que esa inclusión de nuevos integrantes sea el detonante de una mayor continuidad, algo que sería de agradecer, siempre si no va en detrimento de la calidad. Canciones para una vida - Last Descendants - Not My World

 

NOT  MY  WORLD

La eterna búsqueda de material aparentemente desconocido para el 90% del planeta es algo en no pocas ocasiones tan satisfactorio como vasto,puede uno rebuscar entre estilos y épocas, y además, los estilos se mezclan pasando de uno a otro las bandas, o las tendencias, lo que hace al final de la labor un acto puro de dedicación. Hoy me quiero adentrar de nuevo en esa fertil como pocas época de los 80, en este caso en el nicho sonoro que va a medio camino entre varias cosas, Haevy metal clásico, thrash metal e incluso destellos progresivos por la estructura y los cambios, encarnada en la banda estadounidense "Last Descendants", otro de esos grupos "monodisco", que apenas se dieron la ocasión de asomarse a la escena internacional para disolverse tan rápido como empezaron y desde luego con un practicamente nulo reconocimiento una vez más injusto atendiendo a la calidad, la originalidad de su propuesta y su potencial. Su periodo de actividad entre 1986 y 1993, aunque solo editarían un LP en 1988. Como decía al inicio rasgos musicales a medio camino de varios subgéneros, en lo que podríamos acotar como un heavy speed thrash con toques progresivos. Realmente recomendable escuchar su único LP, "One Nation Under God", del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog su tema inicial, "Not my world" que muestra muy claramente el citado potencial, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Burning Point - Fire With Fire

 

FIRE  WITH  FIRE 

Otro pequeño repaso al nuevo material de los finlandeses "Burning Point" liderados por Pete Ahonen, una de esas bandas a las que hacer las cosas tan bien como llevan haciendolo desde 1999 no les ha dado el reconocimiento sin duda merecido, pero que apoyados en su propio tesón han continuado demostrando su enorme potencial a pesar de ser un grupo de grandes idas y venidas de músicos, lo que puede haberles dado ese plus de dureza a la hora de mantenerse a pesar de todo, aunque por otra parte la inestabilidad en las formaciones suele ser sinónimo de inestabilidad e n sus carreras. La inclusión para la ocasión tras cinco años de silencio del nuevo vocalista Luca Sturniolo es todo un acierto y dota al nuevo disco ese aire del power clásico noventero que tanto atrajo en la citada década a docenas de metalheads bajo el paraguas del subgénero. Este octavo LP de la banda no inventa nada nuevo por lo tanto, pero si hace muy bien lo que pretende con muchos temas destacables en la obra que resulta entretenida y completa si lo tuyo es el power de corte europeo. Finalmente la banda alemana Blind Guardian da señales de vida de material nuevo, (llamemoslo material "normal" o "no especial"), refiriendome al disco orquestal llamado "Twilight Orchestra: Legacy of the dark Lands" que viese la luz el año 2019. Finalmente y ya desde 2015 con su "Beyond the red mirror", 2021 ve un tema extraido del que será su próximo LP de estudio del que aún no ha trascendido el título pero que saldrá para el tramo final de 2022. La banda ha escusado en cierto modo está tardanza en la situación mundial actual que todos conocemos. En lo referente al tema, blind Guardian reconocible en lo compositivo, que más se puede decir, el propio nombre de la banda es ya garantía suficiente, y aunque por lo general se suelen hacer desear entre obra y obra, al final, por lo general, suele merecer la pena, esperemos que este sea el caso en esta ocasión también. Otro grupo más de esos a los que habría que pasarse horas añadiendo adjetivos que ensalzasen su figura son Judas Priest, un grupo de los pocos elegidos a los que se podría incluso atribuir la paternidad del propio heavy metal, siendo uno de esos que ya contaban con una extensa discografía cuando bandas del calibre de Iron Maiden comenzaban a dar sus primeros pasos, pocos pueden presumir de haber llevado a Iron Maiden como teloneros en una gira, ellos si pueden hacerlo. La historia de la banda no ha estado exenta de polémicas, de salidas y retornos de miembros con mayúsculas dentro de la banda, de épocas de descanso y retornos imponentes, y de una extensa discografía con la que pueden presumir de obras legendarias e influyentes, aunque también de otras menos afortunadas o generadoras de críticas. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog el artwork de una de esa obras con mayúsculas no solo dentro de su discografía sino dentro del propio heavy metal en general, "Painkiller" de 1990, un discazo de inicio a fin, del que sobra toda presentación, Para la ocasión la banda cambiaba a su batería, Dave Holland por Scott Travis, y Don Airey pondría los teclados en la canción "A touch of evil". El trabajo artísico de la portada, una de las reconocidas y reconocibles por excelencia en esto del heavy metal estuvo a cargo del británico Mark Wilkinson, quien ha demostrado muchas veces su buen hacer para bandas del calibre de Iron Maiden, (por ejemplo su reciente "Senjutsu" de este 2021), Bloodbound, Highland Glory, o Megadeth por citar los nombres más "grandes". Canciones para una vida - Amorphis - The Moon

 

THE  MOON

Primer single de adelanto del nuevo disco de los finlandeses "Amorphis", un disco que llevará por título "Halo" y que verá la luz a mediados del mes de febrero de este inminente 2022. El citado single lleva por título "The Moon" y se trata de una canción que desde el inicio muestra la identidad de la banda, muy reconocible como no podría ser de otra manera. la verdad es que con este grupo no puedo ser muy objetivo ya que es una de esas bandas que aparentemente todo lo que componen me gusta, uno de esos grupos que veo como un seguro de vida, y no creo que sea el único, parece haber un consenso general sobre la calidad de la banda. de nuevo por lo tanto un death melódico, con aires progresivos y veremos también si folk en este nuevo album. Cuando una banda, sea del calibre que sea, da en el blanco, es inevitable y lógico que quiera retornar por la senda que les dió el éxito en un momento concreto, aún a pesar del riesgo implicito que algo así conlleva, y es que no siempre se tiene la misma capacidad compositiva, o es muy fácil en ocasiones dejarse llevar por la idea facilona de repetirse demasiado respecto al original y por lo tanto cagarla. Grave Digger volvió con "The Clans will rise again" en 2010 por segunda vez a la temática estrictamente escocesa tras el irreprochable "Tunes Of War" de 1996, y lo hizo con acierto, evitando en su mayoría los "pecados" mencionados más arriba cuando se hacen estas operaciones, tanto es así, que en este recien pasado 2020 han retornado por tercera vez y también con bastante acierto, lo que habla de su capacidad compositiva y de su inspiración con este tema en concreto que puede darles para más en el futuro, veremos. Sea como fuere, "The clans will rise again" es una obra puramente "Grave Digger" muy del agrado de los amantes de su sonido y del que se pueden destacar muchos temas haciendo de la obra una de esas completas para disfrutarla de inicio a fin. En esta ocasión el artwork de la obra estuvo a cargo del hungaro Gyula Havancsak, quien ha realizado trabajos para bandas de renombre tales como Accept, Almanac, At Vance, Blind Guardian, Brainstorm, Burning Witches, Elvenking, Destruction, Ensiferum, Serenity, Stratovarius, Tyr, Warkings o Wisdom por citar los más reconocidos, por lo tanto una garantía de quien hoy dejo en el blog el artwork de esta obra de Grave Digger de 2010.
