Canciones para una vida - Yngwie Malmsteen - Seventh Sign

 

SEVENTH  SIGN

Que interesante época en la carrera musical del sueco Yngwie, el periodo de los 90, sobre todo la primera mitad donde editó tres LP's remarcables por varios motivos, también por la calidad de los miembros que acompañaron al genio de las seis cuerdas. "The seventh sign" de 1994 debía coger el testigo del fantástico "Fire and ice" de 1992, y para la ocasión se rodeó por ejemplo de Michael Vescera, vocalista que siempre me ha encantado, sobre todo en sus comienzos con Obsession, o Mike Terrana a la batería, si a ello añadimos el buen momento compositivo como mínimo solo puede resultar interesante. THE  WARRIOR

Existen bandas que alcanzan un estatus bastante mítico a pesar de haber desarrollado su carrera en el sotano de la escena internacional, siempre basandose en material de grandisima calidad pero lastrado por las posibilidades económicas y de promoción, no de composición. En este marco encontramos un gran exponente en los germanos "Attack", con un heavy power desde el comienzo de su carrera, a comienzos de los 80, y desde mediados de diche década mostrando ese potencial que por desgracia nunca salto a primera línea lo que sin duda habría tenido que cambiar su sino. A pesar de mostrarse en activo llevan desde 1995 en silenciom editando cinco LP's de estudio, el quinto de ellos "The secret place", como digo de 1995, y del que hoy dejo en el blog otro de sus temas, el fantástico "The Warrior", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall - Far From Home

 

FAR  FROM  HOME

Sigue desgranando detalles la nueva obra del sueco Magnus Karlsson, "Hunt the flame" que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo mes de abril. Estamos ante su segundo single "Far from home" en el que Magnus cuenta con la colaboración del cantante chileno James Robledo, artista que si bien no ha despuntado en bandas muy grandes o conocidas si que va creciendo en la escena internacional y que no sería sorprendente que con colaboraciones de este nivel y su buen hacer termine dando el salto a alguna formación de primera línea. Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Morning Star

 

MORNING  STAR

Solo un músico o una banda de las verdaderamente prolíficas pueden ser capaces de editar nada menos que seis discos recopilatorios de baladas, (de momento) en una carrera musical en la que ese apartado compositivo han alcanzado una verdadera dimensión de importancia y un gran peso específico. Axel Rudi Pell es el mejor ejemplo de ello, y la prueba definitiva de que el sonido metálico necesita de ese contrapunto compositivo que equilibre la potencia con la calma. En este recopilatorio se incluyen cinco temas nuevos, entre canciones nuevas, instrumentales nuevas, versiones nuevas y temas recopilados desde la aparición de su "The Ballads V" de 2017. Canciones para una vida - Majesty - Back To Attack

 

BACK  TO  ATTACK

Nuevo trabajo de los germanos "Majesty" que llevaban ya desde 2019 en silencio compositivo, tras sacar su anterior album con la consecuente gira, deciden darse un descanso, tras lo cual la pandemia acentuó dicho periodo de inactividad como sucedió en terminos generales a nivel planetario, ahora, en 2023, rompen ese periodo con su décimo LP de estudio, "Back to attack", que verá la luz de forma oficial en el mes de abril, y del que en estos días nos dejan como adelanto el tema que dará nombre a la obra, "Back to attack" del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - Dream Theater - 6:00

En uno de sus mejores momentos como banda, cuando habían deslumbrado a la escena internacional un par de años antes con su "Images & Words" de 1992, en 1994 Dream Theater dejaban su tercer capítulo, "Awake". Al hablar de ciertas bandas lo hacemos sobre pioneros en sus campos respectivos, referentes, grupos que han cogido cosas y las han llevado a un nivel superior, y no siempre tienen porqué haber inventado nada nuevo, en ocasiones basta con un enfoque personal de algo ya existente para lograr un resultado brillante e influyente. Desde luego que los estadounidenses Dream Theater son uno de esos referentes en este caso en el apartado metálico progresivo. "Awake" resultó ser un LP más potente que su antecesor, un punto en el que todos sus miembros lucieron a gran altura y eso se nota en cada canción, desde su inicio, "6:00", tema del que hoy dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube.

ROLLING  HOME 

Ante todo la sensación que me queda con esta banda es la misma obra tras obra, crecimiento, desde ese humilde inicio en formato EP que paso tan de puntillas en 2016, a un aumento de calidad en una carrera meteórica con cuatro LP's en apenas cuatro años explotanto un nicho sonoro digamos muy germano, y en el que encontramos las dosis justas de muchas cosas en un gran equilibrio. El segundo adelanto de su cuarto LP lleva por título "Rolling Home" y de él dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Otro adelanto más de los suecos "Bloodbound", que no hace sino confirmarlo todo, un sonido que se ciñe completamente a los cliches del euro power, una tendencia sonora obra tras obra que les hace muy asequibles a los consumidores de este tipo de sonido, una fórmula que parece que están destinados a explotar por el buen resultado que les da. Canciones para una vida - Battle Born - Blood And Fire

 

BLOOD  AND  FIRE

Después del buen sabor de boca que los británicos nos dejaron en 2020 con su debut en formato EP, "Battle born", en este 2023 llegan los primeros ecos de su primer LP de estudio, "Blood , fire, Magic and steel" que verá la luz de forma oficial a mitad de mayo. Intantáneamente tras su sencillo "Blood and fire" queda patente en el tema productivo, y en algunos elementos compositivos, sobre todo en los coros, la mano del músico "Seeb Levermann" que aquí apadrina desde la producción de la obra al grupo en ciernes. Siempre queda rastro de este gran músico en lo que toca, ese aire más o menos presente de Orden Ogan, lo cual es para mí siempre una buena noticia. Canciones para una vida - Excalion - Soulbound

 

SOULBOUND

Nuevo material de estudio de los finlandeses "Excalion", un grupo que lleva en activo desde 2000, y que con este "Once upon a time" que verá la luz este proximo mes de marzo lleva un total de seis LP's en su discografía, plagada de buenos momentos dentro del sonido power melódico con abundantes momentos de teclado, seguramente ese sonido de corte abiertamente europeo tuvieron un inicio mirando a compatriotas suyos como los por entonces indispensables Stratovarius o los aún incipientes Sonata Arctica, además, a medida que avanza su carrera parece acrecentarse su calidad, con el único pero en lo espaciado de sus trabajos. TO  THE  END  OF  ALL  KNOWN

 Retorno compositivo de una de esas bandas germanas que en la pasada década apuntaron hacia lo más alto con una serie de trabajos muy destacables dentro del power de corte europeo que sobre todo en sus dos primeros LP's tenían también destellos folk. Son Winterstorm quienes editaron su anterior trabajo ya en 2016, nada menos que hace siete años, y mucho me temía que no nos iban a dar continuidad tras ello, sin embargo en este 2023 editarán "Everfrost" , concretamente en el mes de julio, y del que en estos días nos llegan los primeros ecos en forma del single "To the end of all known", del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Narnia - Rebel

 

REBEL

La carrera de los suecos Narnia no para de mostrar pasos acertados, y con cada uno de ellos se acentúa en mí esa sensación de que en absoluto gozan del estatus que merecen, son ya veinti siete años de carrera, plasmada en nueve LP's de estudio que han mostrado desde el principio su visión compositiva dentro del power de corte europeo, en un principio más de influencia neoclásica, despues en un ambito melódico con destellos progresivos y ese poso neoclásico aún latente. Son indudablemente poseedores de un estilo reconocible, y en este comienzo de año nos muestran el primer detalle de lo que será ese noveno LP, "Ghost Town", que verá la luz de forma oficial a mediados de marzo. El primero de los singles lleva por título "Rebel" y mira abiertamente a la época de sus inicios, con ese toque neoclásico presente, un tema digamos de corte clásico en el universo compositivo de Narnia, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Nation - Fallin' Rainbow

 

FALLIN'  RAINBOW

Vamos con otro caso más de banda ochentera de las que apenas logró repercusión y que desarrollo una brevisima carrera con un único LP antes de perderse para siempre en el anonimato casi total. Hablamos de los alemanes "Nation", y lo hacemos de un sonido hard 'n heavy - heavy metal melódico, sonido muy de la época en la que desarrollaban su sonido y de calidad una vez más como para haber podido desarrollar una carrera mucho más reconocida y larga. Se forman en 1984 y editan su único trabajo en 1985, de título "Ride On", y de ella dejo en el blog un enlace a youtube de su tema "Fallin' Rainbow", buen ejemplo de su potencial y de la capacidad de esos años de generar toneladas de bandas interesantes.

Canciones para una vida - Manowar - Laut Und Hart Stark Und Schnell

 

LAUT  UND  HART,  STARK  UND  SCHNELL

Siempre he sido de los que han reconocido abiertamente mi gusto por este grupo, a pesar de tantos que solo ven la parte negativa de lo que el nombre Manowar conlleva, que lo hay, sin embargo pienso que hace falta esta banda en el conjunto del universo metálico, apesar de los muchos imitadores que han ido apareciendo, pero el original es el original. Dicho esto, si es cierto que ni el más grande de los seguidores de siempre es capaz de desilusionarse por el enfoque que, realmente desde siempre, ha seguido la banda, y me refiero no al sendero evolutivo musical que haya podido seguir el grupo, sino a la manera de explotar sus cada vez más escasos aportes de material nuevo y original. Es increible ver que se alimente de reediciones de LP's antiguos, contandolos como nuevos, exprimir EP's de la manera que lo hacen, e incluso, como es el caso que hoy nos ocupa, editar un tema nuevo en forma de single añadiendo 25 segundos iniciales que nada aportan para así tener dos canciones en el single. Paro bueno, más allá de dicha evidencia, la banda parece que quiere ahora dar un paso más en lo que a grabar discos se refiere, editando en un futuro próximo aún sin concretar la que sería su duodécimo LP de estudio (descartando reediciones). También es evidente que deben dar un paso al frente después de la polémica salida de alguno de sus ex compañeros, con un tema tan serio como el sucedido, y la presentación de la banda reformada se hace a través de un tema muy "Manowar" con todos los cliches, de composición de fondo, sus coros característicos y su letra llena de "Metal", como en el más macarra de sus momentos. Guiño a la hinchada germana incluido para calentar los futuros shows en vivo en que este  "Laut und hart, stark und schnell" (Alto duro, fuerte y rápido) sin duda funcionará a las mil maravillase su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - The Privateer - Madness Is King

 

MADNESS  IS  KING

En muchos, o practicamente en todos los sitios se considera a esta banda germana como un grupo que practica un power metal de carácter folk aunque creo que esa manera de acotar su sonido es algo inprecisa, y a medida que avanza su carrera se acusa esa tendencia, así, tildarles con un poco de death melódico no está de más, de esa manera, podemos encontrar en el grupo rasgos sonoros desde el europower moderno sabatoniano al death melódico y folk de grupos también europeos, un tanto eluveitianos, sin caer nunca en ninguno de ellos por completo, dando así a su sonido unos rasgos personales reconocibles. un tanto neoclásicos en momentos con sonnido Falconeriano, o la tematica corsaria que te trae un aire Alestormiano sin caer en sus cliches festivos. Como digo la mezcla es como poco interesante y ya la van defendiendo a lo largo de más de una década. En este 2023 editan su cuarto LP de estudio, "Kingdom of exiles" que ha visto la luz de forma oficial el pasado 20 de enero, y hoy de dicha obra quiero dejar en el blog su tema inicial, "Madness is king" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Cruachan - The Reaper

 

THE  REAPER

La novena obra de estudio de los irlandeses Cruachan se titulará "The living and the dead" y verá la luz de forma oficial este próximo mes de marzo. El grupo ha ido desvelando poco a poco singles de adelanto que pertenecerán a esta obra desde 2020, el último de ellos, "The reaper" hace solo unos días, a finales de enero, y según la banda es un tema muy especial para el grupo, muy emotivo ya que se lo dedican al padre recientemente fallecido de uno de sus miembros, Keith faith, guitarra, voz y teclados. Como siempre en al referirnos a esta banda hablamos de ese sonido un tanto crudo, black céltico, folk metal, a medida que avanza su carrera cada vez más reconocido. Siempre parece ir de la mano el hecho del crecimiento de un grupo a niveles máximos, con el hecho de empezar a editar material que quizá de otra manera no se hubiese realizado, recopilatorios, discos en vivo, discos de versiones propias y ajenas, o singles aparentemente pertenecientes a ninguna obra como es el caso que hoy nos ocupa. Se trata del single de la canción "Poison", tema original de Alice Cooper, que los alemanes Powerwolf han aprovechado a versionar con la excusa del cumpleaños del artísta. Podemos ver la reflexión inicial de esta reseña como algo casi negativo, desde una perspectiva esclusivamente recaudatoria, o podemos hacerlo desde la oportunidad de tener más material adicional de un grupo de calidad, máxime en esta ocasión cuando el tema en cuestión tiene el nivel compositivo y contrastado de uno de esos temas fundamentales, como es "Poison". Seguro que cada uno tendremos nuestro propio enfoque, el caso es que el tema ha saildo de forma oficial hace un par de días y de él dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube. Un clásico.

HUNT  THE  FLAME

Cuarta entrega de la banda - proyecto en solitario, del multiinstrumentisata y compositor sueco Magnus Karlsson, que es uno de esos músicos implicados en multiples bandas de primera línea y colaborador en muchas otras bien sea a través de la composición de las canciones como a la interpretación de las mismas. En 2011 decide emprender su camino en solitario del que en este 2023 veremos su cuarto fruto en forma de LP, "Hunt The Flame", de la que en estos días nos llega su primer sencillo que será el que de nombre a la obra, un tema del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Saint Deamon - At Break Of Dawn

 

AT  BREAK  OF  DAWN

Los suecos Saint Deamon son una de esas bandas que van administrando quizá demasiado, sus esfuerzos compositivos, plasmándose estos en quizá también, demasiado poco volumen de LP's atendiendo a la cantidad de años que llevan en activo (desde 2006), y siendo solo cuatro los LP's editados incluyendo el último de ellos, "League of the serpent" que verá la luz de forma oficial este próximo 21 de abril de 2023. Desde luego la calidad nunca ha sido un problema, antes al contrario, no puede caber duda alguna de su capacidad para hacer e interpretar música, lo que agudiza esa sensación de quedarse corto mirando su discografía. El caso es que tenemos ya entre manos los primeros destellos del nuevo disco en forma del single de adelanto "At break of dawn", una confirmación más de todo lo expuesto, una canción de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Angus McSix - Master Of The Universe

 

MASTER  OF  THE  UNIVERSE

Desconozco exactamente cual fue el motivo de la salida de Thomas Winkler de la banda Gloryhammer, e igualmente si esta salida se hizo de manera digamos civilizada o de la otra, pero lo que si está claro es que esta historia que se nos presenta bajo el nombre de Angus McSix es una hisoria vieja como la música. Es decir, dejo un grupo por el motivo que sea, para dar salida a mi propio material, mi enfoque, en la línea absoluta compositiva de lo que venía haciendo en la banda original. Pongamonos en el caso uno, la salida fue traumática. Pues bien, el bueno de Thomas, a través de este primer adelanto, deja bien claro que es más que capaz de hacer un sonido al nivel de Gloryhammer sin el resto de sus ex compañeros. Pongamonos en el segundo supuesto, separación civilizada, consensuada y meditada, está claro que la compañía que se ha buscado para la obra el bueno de Thomas le hace ganar muchos enteros si es que se decide continuar con la banda, ya que nada menos que Seeb Levermann aparece tras los hilos de esta trama, se nota en lo compositivo, sobre todo en la parte de coros, y en lo sonoro, por lo que un enfoque por parte de Thomas de hacer un grupo a su gusto tambén cabría aquí como teoría. Sea como sea, los amantes del power están de enhorabuena ante la perspectiva que se abre, como queda patente en el single "Master of the universe" que sirve para presentar el primer disco de la banda, "And the sword of power" cuya salida oficial se espera para el mes de abril, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Canciones para una vida - All For Metal - Born In Valhalla

 

BORN  IN  VALHALLA

De vuelta al proyecto germano "All For Metal" impulsado como proyecto personal de la discográfica AFM, siguen dando pasos adelante en lo que se refiere a la promoción de su primer LP del que de momento desconozco tanto el título que tendrá como por supuesto su fecha de lanzamiento. En estos días se ha promocionado su tercer single y yo hoy quiero dejar en el blog el segundo de ellos, "Born In Valhalla", un poco al calor de bandas como los suecos "Brothers of metal" está claro que la discográfica ha visto el filón y ha querido comerse su propia parte de ese pastel, veremos como evoluciona en el futuro.
