Canciones para una vida - Grave Digger - Knights Of The Cross

KNIGHTS  OF  THE CROSS

 Como tantas veces suele hacerse, ante la espera del momento concreto de la salida del material nuevo de una banda que nos gusta mucho, suele recurrirse a recuperar material anterior del grupo para quitarse el "mono" del sonido de dicha banda, y en esas estamos. La próxima salida de la nueva obra de los alemanes "Grave Digger" es una excelente excusa para recuperar otra de sus pasadas obras, en esta ocasión la segunda de las obras pertenecientes a la genial trilogía que supusieron los discos "Tunes of war", "Knights of the cross" y "Excalibur". Sin duda estamos ante una de las mejores épocas compositivas de la banda, y en esta segunda obra de la citada trilogía, "Knights Of The Cross" de 1998, encontramos suficientes argumentos para confirmar lo dicho, valga como ejemplo la canción que da nombre a la obra, de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube, Grave Digger, un valor seguro.

Canciones para una vida - Silver Bullet - Light The Lanterns (Scavengers Of Death)

LIGHT  THE  LANTERNS  (SCAVENGERS  OF  DEATH)

Desde Finlandia nos llega esta banda de power metal de corte europeo, "Silver Bullet", un grupo que a pesar de llevar tan solo un par de discos de estudio lleva desde 2008 activo, aunque parece que con otro nombre y que solo desde la mitad de esta recién pasada década han tomado más en serio su vertiente compositiva editando en 2016 su primera obra y este pasado 2019 su segundo LP. Como digo, power metal de corte europeo, con una cierta vocación hacia el speed, y cierta tendencia a los cambios de ritmo entre momentos acelerados y otros más calmados y un dedicación reseñable a la melodía, es una obra que hará disfrutar a los amantes del género. Dejo hoy una de las canciones que componen su segundo LP "Mooncult", como decía más arriba de 2019, en concreto "Light the lanterns (scanvengers of death)"  de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Forefather - The River Maid's Farewell

THE  RIVER  MAID'S  FAREWELL

Como me gusta esta banda, un grupo demasiado poco reconocido en su ya extensa carrera y que lleva demasiado tiempo ya sin editar un nuevo LP, desde 2015 concretamente en que sacaron este "Curse of the cwelled" del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog otro de sus temas. Realmente si que han editado más material desde entonces, en forma de un EP "Tales from a cloud born land" del que ya he hablado en el blog. Sea como sea va siendo hora de que nos regalen un disco nuevo, algo que muchos celebraríamos sin duda. A modo de demostración una vez más de los que son capaces estos británicos en lo referente a su capacidad melódica compositiva quiero dejar en el blog el tema instrumental "The River Maid's Farewell", en otro de los rasgos típicos que les caracterizan, el de la vertiente instrumental, perteneciente como decía más arriba al último LP editado hasta la fecha de esta reseña, "Curse of the cwelled" de 2015, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Axel Rudi Pell - Dark Waves Of The Sea

DARK  WAVES  OF  THE  SEA

 En pleno periodo de espera de la salida del nuevo material del guitarrista alemán "Axel Rudi Pell", en el que será el décimo noveno LP de estudio del grupo parece apropiado rebuscar entre el mucho y buen material de esta extensa discografía, y que mejor que hacerlo buscando una canción que reuna muchos o todos los elementos clásicos y típicos de su sonido estandar. Una de esas canciones puede ser la que hoy dejo en el blog, "Dark Waves Of the sea", del décimo cuarto LP de estudio del grupo, "The Crest", de 2010, una canción larga, uno de los rasgos típicos de muchos de los temas de Axel, en clave de medio tiempo, y que resulta ser una especie de continuación o segunda parte otro tema anterior, "Oceans of time", seguramente la obra que más me gusta de la banda. Canciones para una vida - MP - Get It Now

GET  IT  NOW

Segunda ocasi´0n en la que traigo al blog a estos alemanes, "MP", también bajo el nombre de "Melting Point" en la parte final de su carrera, a pesar de que ellos hanseguido supuestamente en activo incluso hasta nuestros días, pero sin ninguna actividad de estudio desde el citado último disco de nombre "Melting point" en lo referente al título de la obra y al nombre de la banda. Estamos ante un concepto compositivo clásico donde los haya, con un sonido entre el heavy metal clásico y el hard ' n heavy tan de la década. Desarrollaron su actividad compositiva entre los años 1986 y 1992 a pesar de, como decía más arriba, seguir enactivo supuestamente hasta nuestros días. Sonido claramente en una onda europea, con un regusto claro y evidente a sus compatriotas "Accept". Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones pertenecientes a su segundo LP de estudio, "Get It now", de 1987, concretamente el tema que da nombre a la obra, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

 Otra de las obras revelación en el apartado del power metal del pasado 2019 a mi entender, fue este "Skull and bones, tales over the seas" de los italianos "Great Master", obra que ya he traido en un par de ocasiones al blog, por lo que poco o nada más puedo añadir que no haya dicho ya, tan solo dejar otra muestra más de la calidad de esta composición que tiene muchas más perlas que reseñar, y posiblemente así lo haga en un futuro. TAKE  ME  HOME

 Nueva confirmación del enorme trabajo que estos suecos se han sacado de la manga, me refiero a otro de los temas que componen este "Paradigm" del pasado 2019, séptimo LP del grupo en estos ya veinte años de historia personal que comenzasen allá por 1999, ya sabeís, un hard rock melódico, con un toque moderno, un toque hard heavy y una producción impecable. Canciones para una vida - Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall - Hold Your Fire

HOLD  YOUR  FIRE

Innegablemente el nombre de Magnus Karlsson hoy en día va de la mano de la calidad y debe ser sinónimo de acierto compositivo, tanto para él como para otros, ya que además de su versatilidad como músico y compositor, que abarca además de la guitarra, el bajo teclados y voz. Embarcado en varias bandas en el pasado y el presente así como proyectos con otros músicos, hoy quiero referirme al proyecto posiblemente más personal, al que implica su porpio nombre, "Magnus Karlsson Free Fall", idea que comenzó a tomar forma en el año 2011 y que desde 2013 ha visto al proyecto editar obras de estudio, concretamente tres con este "We are the night" que verá la luz este próximo mes de mayo. Estamos hablando de un sonido heavy power metal melódico, creado solo con la base del Músico poliinstrumentista y el batería Jaime Salazar, además de la costumbre de utilizar músicos de primera línea en cuestiones sobre todo vocales. A juzgar por el primer adelanto del nuevo disco, "Hold Your Fire", canción que abrirá la obra, estamos ante la perpetuación del citado concepto utilizado hasta la fecha, En esta ocasión el invitado en funciones vocales es menos conocido, Dino Jelusic, entre otras bandas participa en Trans Siberian Orchestra como más destacada. Canciones para una vida - Kobra And The Lotus - Liar

LIAR

 Sexto disxo de estudio de los canadienses "Kobra and the lotus" que vio la luz el pasado año 2019. Ya he traido al blog con anterioridad a esta banda al blog, y estamos pues ante una banda que afronta el heavy metal con un enfoque mucho más moderno en lo productivo y lo compositivo, que en esta última obra sigue el camino abierto desde los inicios de su carrera. Es un concepto que abrirá las puertas de la obra más a los fans metálicos más nuevos antes que a los más veteranos, sin embargo, siendo francos, estamos ante una banda que creo que, objetivamente, está haciendo bastante bien las cosas en general en su carrera que no hace sino crecer. Personalmente he de reconocer que no es mi forma preferida de hacer heavy metal, pero también debo reconocer que siempre termina este grupo por ofrecerme cosas de mi agrado que me terminan por gustar. Canciones para una vida - Insomnium - Twilight Trails

TWILIGHT  TRAILS

 Una vez más los finlandeses "Insomnium", en un ejercicio de pulcro esfuerzo compositivo, nos dejan un ejemplo casi perfecto de lo que debe ser el death melódico, subrayando lo de melódico, algo ya demostrado a lo largo de su discografía pasada y que ahora confirman en este "Heart like a grave" del pasado 2019. Son pues un buen ejemplo de lo que se suele hacer por muchas bandas en su cantera natural finlandesa en lo que al death melódico se refiere. Disco del que ya he dejado en el blog otra de sus canciones, siendo la obra ya la octava de la banda que se encuentra en un momento dulce de su carrera, con todas las garantías de un grupo que lleva desde 1997 desarrollando su concepto musical personal, y por lo tanto, una obra recomendable en su conjunto de la que hoy dejo en el blog el tema "Twilight Trails", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

 "Fields of blood" es ya el vigésimo disco de estudio de los alemanes "Grave Digger" que nos dejan el primer adelanto de esta nueva obra cuya salida oficial se espera para el próximo mes de Mayo. En lo sonoro, a juzgar por el nuevo adelanto "All for the kingdom" se ve una perpetuación una vez más en el concepto clásico de su sonido, y en lo temático parece haber una segunda mirada hacia Escocia, rememorando alguno de los mejores momentos de la banda con su "Tunes of war" de 1996. Realmente como lograsen acercarse mínimamente a la factura de la citada obra estaríamos ante una obra más que considerable. Canciones para una vida - Gary Moore - Empty Rooms

EMPTY  ROOMS

 Dos temas consecutivos de este genio de la guitarra en el blog, es lo que tiene ponerse a desempolvar bandas antiguas de las que llevabas tiempi sin escuchar, que al final te das cuenta de lo grandes que llegaron a ser y te dan ganas de recuperarlas. Absolutamente válido lo dicho para la anterior entrada del blog sobre este músico, así que no me repetiré, solo mencionar que este "Victims of the future" de 1983 fue el cuarto album del músico, en una línea heavy metal, pero sin cerrar la puerta a temas que han llegado a ser clásicos reconocidos y reconocibles dentro y fuera del mundillo, como es el caso de este "Empty Rooms" que en esta obra tendría la versión inicial que posteriormente reharía y publicaría, más acorde a su radiodifusión en otro de sus albumes, prefiriendo personalmente este primer intento, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Gary Moore - Out In The Fields

OUT  IN  THE  FIELDS

Hay figuras que no deberían faltar en cualquier tipo de recopilatorio metálico por la calidad y la importancia en lo suyo, y uno de ellos es sin duda Gary Moore. El Irladés fue conocido musicalmente hablando por varios momentos diferentes, algunos de ellos llenos por su pasión por el "Blues", sin embargo la parte inicial de su carrera estuvo mucho más ligada al heavy metal, y una de sus obras que apostaba por ese tipo de composiciones era su sexto album de estudio bajo su nombre "Run For Cover", de 1985. Cosechando buenas ventas incluyendo temas bastante famosos y reconocidos internacionalmente, como por ejemplo la canción de la obra "out in the fields" que, como hecho curioso contó con la colaboración de Phil Lynott, con uien trabajó en "Thin Lizzy", y que resultaría ser la última grabación de Lynott en estudio antes de su muerte a comienzos de 1986. Caprichos del destino. El caso es que hoy dejo en el blog otro de esos pedacitos de historia metálica en forma de este "Out in the fields" reconocido, versionado, y aquí en su forma original, canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

UNIVERSAL  TRUTH

 El tandem Schaffer - Kursch es una vez más demostración de como, al juntar esfuerzos músicos de primera el resultado no puede ser otro que eso, de primera. Hoy quiero traer al blog por segunda vez una de las canciones de la nueva obra editada este año 2020. Evidentemente la creación de material entre músicos con un caracter musical y compositivo tan marcado como es el caso de ambos, hace que la mezcla resulte interesante, algo ya comprobado en las dos anteriores obras del proyecto "Demons & Wizards", algo que se perpetua en este "III" de 2020. De nuevo quiero recuperar hoy este disco que ya traje al blog en su momento, de una de las muchas bandas que lo intentaron bajo el nombre de "Tyrant", en concreto la alemana que ejecutaba ese heavy metal un tanto "speed" y absolutamente con la esencia de la old school. Estamos, por supuesto, hablando de la década de los ochenta, y de una banda centrada en ese sonido tan auténtico y tan clásico. Esta banda estuvo en activo toda la década, (1981 - 1989), sin llegar a destacar en exceso, pero dejando un legado en forma de cuatro LP's de puro heavy metal del más alto nivel. Hoy, como decia al inicio, quiero recuperar otra de las canciones de su primer album de estudio, "Mean Machine" de 1984, donde ya demostraban que lo suyo era metal sin concesiones y que su carrera iría por esos senderos, como así terminó siendo, antes de su separación definitiva, una vez más demasiado temprana y demasiado poco reconocida su carrera. Canciones para una vida - Allen-Olzon - What If I Live

WHAT  IF  I  LIVE

Parece que este 2020 es el año definitivo de relanzamiento de la cantante Anette Olzon, a través de varios proyectos diferentes aunque siempre en una onda similar, y siempre en colaboración con músicos de primera línea. En esta ocasión me quiero referir al proyecto comenzado el pasado 2019 y que en el presente 2020 ha visto como daba fruto en forma del primer LP, "Worlds apart", me refiero al tandem Russell Allen y Anette Olzon. Por todos es conocido el talento del cantante conocido y reconocido por su trabajo en bandas de renombre tales como Symphoy X, o Adrenaline Mob entre otros, además de su colaboración con Jorn Lande en el proyecto-banda Allen Lande. Ahora emprende con Olzon este nuevo capitulo colaborativo que veremos que recorrido termina por tener. Hablamos de un power sinfónico, con el apoyo de la discográfica "Frontiers". Sin destacar por la originalidad si que podemos hablar de composiciones y producción impecables, con el toque del guitarrista sueco Magnus Karlsson, orientadas al público que pretenden agradar, lograndolo sin duda. KING  FOR  A  DAY

 El cuarto LP de los finlandeses "Battle Beast" es un buen ejemplo del sonido actual de la banda, siempre con el asunto de la salida de Anton Kabanen de la banda, el motor compositivo hasta el anterior trabajo del grupo, pero que poco a poco van superando con la demostración de la efectiva manera de componer su sonido en la era post Kabanen, y es de justicia reconocer que la banda está en pelna forma y seguramente ha encontrado su propia identidad. El sonido power "popero", vendible, un tanto "facilón" queda patente en temas como este "King for a day" que no puedes sacar facilmente de tu cabeza desde el inicio, una canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Blitzkrieg - Vikings

VIKINGS

Nuevamente en el blog esta banda británica, "Blitzkrieg" uno de esos grupos que llevan una eternidad en la escena internacional, y además subsistiendo un tanto al margen de todo, del reconocimiento, de las ventas, de la presión, de la continuidad, de cualquier tipo de "cliche" y sin embargo, aún en la brecha. Atípicos, como digo, en practicamente todo, es una banda con un sonido bien personal, con las raices de su creación en la misma NWOBHM, hijos legítimos del citado e hiperconocido movimiento, pero desde el pricipio con un enfoque personal que ha mantenido el grupo hasta nuestros días. De los miembros originales tan solo Brian Ross a los teclados y voz permanece tirando del carro hasta nuestros días, y a lo largo de las épocas de la banda han editado un total de 10 LP's de estudio. Hoy quiero echar la vista al inicio de su carrera, con la edición de su debut en 1985, "A time of Changes", de la que hoy quiero dejar uno de sus temas, "Vikings", canción de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - Anger - Feel The Fire Burning

FEEL  THE  FIRE  BURNING

 Una de las varias bandas llamadas "Anger" a lo largo del tiempo dentro de nuestro sonido fueron estos daneses, cuyo sonido se enraizaba en el heavy metal clásico de los 80, y que desarrollo ese sonido de primera mano, es decir, fueron hijos de esa época puesto que su breve carrera se desarrollo entre los años 1983 y 1987, año en el que se separarían tras editar su único trabajo de estudio en forma de LP, "Reach for the sky", como digo de 1987. La formación, al menos aparentemente no contaba con miembros que luego llegasen a tener un nombre en otras bandas, pero el sonido que realizaban era más que interesante, lo tantas veces demostrado de la calidad y el reconocimiento y la ventas, algo que no siempre va de la mano. En definitiva, otro grupo más de esos perdidos en la historia metálica, que agradará a los amantes del sonido de la old school, y de la que dejo una de las canciones de su único LP "reach for the sky" de 1987, en concreto la canción "Feel the fire" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Canciones para una vida - The Dark Element - Songs The Night Sings

SONGS  THE  NIGHT  SINGS

 Parece sencillo revivir fórmulas, apostar por lo que ya ha funcionado alguna vez, pero además de la idea hay que llevarla a cabo de manera adecuada, y parece que el nuevo proyecto "Pseudo Nightwish" de Olzon y Liimatainen lo ha conseguido. La idea lleva ya unos años en funcionamiento, (desde 2016), y dos LP's para demostrarlo, "The Dark Element" de 2017 y este "Songs the night sings" del recién consumido 2019. Todos los que me conocen o siguen este blog saben mi predilección a la hora de encargarse de las voces en Nightwish por Anette Olzon, quizá por la forma de cantar fuera de la "Opereta", y ya se que es casi un sacrilegio para muchos estando "Tarja" en la ecuación, pero es lo que hay. Por ello, este proyecto "The darl element" tiene más papeletas para gustarme que incluso los propios Nightwish, pero si vamos más alla de ello, atendiendo simplemente a lo compositivo, la segunda obra de la banda-proyecto de primeras figuras de la escena finlandesa que es este "The dark Element" resulta más que interesante. En una onda muy Nightwish, como cabría esperar, se pueden descubrir buenos temas como el que da nombre a la obra, "Songs the night sings", canción de la que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

THE  MASQUERADE

Otra banda que poco a poco, y por méritos propios, ha ido haciendose lentamente una reputación, en esta ocasión dentro del campo del heavy melódico - hard rock, eso si, de corte moderno y de calidad innegable. Su carrera se remonta ya a 1999 y en estos 20 años ya de carrera han editado 7 LP's de estudio contando este "Paradigm" salido el pasado mes de septiembre. Siempre apoyados en un importante componente melódico sus discos suelen ser interesantes en su conjunto, con muchos momentos importantes en los mismos, algo que se perpetua en esta nueva obra. Uno de esos temas destacables puede ser este "The Masquerade" que hoy dejo en el blog, con muchos de los ingredientes marca de la casa, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

HEARTLESS  MADNESS

"The Dark Delight" es ya el séptimo disco de estudio de los suecos "Dynazty", otra de esas bandas que pasito a pasito va completando su carrera, sin hacer mucho ruido pero con la notoriedad suficiente para tener que ser considerados seriamente. Con su concepto que salta del heavy power al hard rock de corte en ocasiones moderno y en otras más clásico, esta nueva obra, a juzgar por sus adelantos, promete seguir la misma senda.
