A estas alturas de la película no debería haber nadie que no viese a Judas como lo que son, un ejemplo fundamental dentro del heavy metal como tal y sin duda alguna una de las primeras bandas en esgrimir un sonido completamente reconocible y calificable de heavy metal tal cual, un buen ejemplo fue su segundo disco "Sad wings of destiny" de 1976 que en un principio no cosecharía un gran reconocimiento internacional, de lo que se puede intuir lo innovador de su sonido para la época, al final en esos años, aún en pañales, el heavy metal deba sus primeros pasoa todavía, y Judas aquí logró sacarse de la manga un disco lleno de temas que se podrían poner como ejemplo de como hacer heavy metal, sin ir más lejos el que dejo hoy en el blog perteneciente a esta obra, "The Ripper", del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Blizzen - No More Room In Hell

 

NO  MORE  ROOM  IN  HELL 

Creo que todos estaremos bastante de acuerdo en que dificilmente una portada de un disco puede ser más heavy, cumpliendo absolutamente todos los estereotipos que cabría esperar, y lo mejor del tema es que la banda compositivamente hablando sigue dicha senda desde un punto de vista de la vieja escuela, en definitiva una banda que facilmente podría haber sacado la obra en 1984, pero que lo ha hecho en este 2025, son los alemanes Blizzen, en su tercer LP de estudio llamado "Metalectric", que verá la luz de forma oficial el próximo 21 de noviembre y del que nos dejan este adelanto, "No more room in hell" del que hoy dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Xentrix - Heaven Cent

HEAVEN  CENT 

Los británicos Xentrix son otra de esas bandas que llevan toda una vida en activo a pesar de que su discografía pueda hacer pensar lo contrario en lo que a su extensión se refiere, ya que se forman en 1988 y siguen en activo, eso sí, con dos parones entre medias, para haber publicado en todos esos años de actividad solo seis LP's de estudio. Su último periodo en activo comienza en 2013, habiendo dado como fruto dos LP's, y su periodo inicial entre 1988 hasta 1997 ha dado los cuatro primeros albumes. Su debut se produce en 1989 con "Shattered Existence" que tuvo una buena acogida a pesar de que el thrash metal en esos años era algo bastante omnipresente con la consiguiente saturación de la escena internacional. Hoy en día es uno de esos albumes esenciales para cualquier thrasher británico, y de él quiero dejar en el blog hoy una de sus canciones, en concreto "Heaven Cent" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Gladenfold - For My Queen

FOR  MY  QUEEN 

Los finlandeses Gladenfold son un buen ejemplo de ese tipo de bandas que han escogido la calidad antes que la cantidad, mostrando un enorme potencial desde el inicio mismo de su carrera pero siguiendo sus propios tempos a la hora de publicar su siguiente material de estudio, así, la banda formada en 2003, comienza su carrera con tres EP's, (2006, 2008 y 2011) hasta la publicación de su debut en formato LP en 2014. Ya habían despertado grandes expectativas en esta primera parte de su carrera, y su primer LP sería la confirmación de ellas, sin embargo, siguiendo su filosofía no sacarían su segundo LP hasta 2019. La tercera obra la publican en 2022 y en el inminente ya 2026 verá la luz su cuarta "Soulbound", para el 27 de febrero. Sus inicios eran un terreno compositivo más orientado al death melódico, y a medida que ha ido avanzando su carrera su sonido se ha ido revistiendo cada vez más de un sonido power sin relegar del todo el punto death melódico, aunque este tema de este nuevo LP que dejo hoy en el blog, su canción "for my queen" es absolutamente power, y de ella que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

TNT - Knights Of The Thunder

KNIGTHS  OF  THE  THUNDER 

Los noruegos TNT son un excelente ejemplo de como los comienzos de una banda no tienen por qué necesariamente marcar el camino compositivo de esa banda para el resto de su carrera ya que con un comienzo en un estilo bastante hard ' n heavy, en sus primeras dos obras que se publican a comienzos de la década de los ochenta, (recordemos que la banda se había formado en 1982), y en ese mismo año de 1982 debutan con "TNT", al que se considera el primer album de heavy metal cantado en noruego. La verdad es que es más un hard 'n heavy que heavy metal en sí como antes he mencionado, pero para ese debut con el sonido más duro de lo hecho por la banda, la formación original contaba con un cantante que para el segundo album ya no estaría siendo sustituido por Tony Harnell, en su segunda obra "Knights of the new thunder" de 1984, donde también por ese motivo mencionado la banda buscaría terreneos mucho más suaves compositivamente hablando desembocando en una hard AOR el resto de su carrera por otra parte muy exitosa. Hoy dejo en el blog uno de los temas de su segundo album, concretamente "Knights of the thunder", que aún conserva parte de esa mayor agresividad del inicio de la carrera de la banda, un tema del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Bullet - Kickstarter

 

KICKSTARTER 

Vamos con los primeros ecos de la nueva obra de los suecos Bullet, una de las muchas bandas que han escogido ese nombre para su grupo, y que no debemos confundir con algunas de las ochenteras en utilizarlo. Formados en 2001, estos Bullet han publicado seis LP's de estudio a fecha de esta reseña, siete si oncluimos "Kickstarter" que verá la luz de forma oficial el 9 de enero del ya casi inminente 2026. Hablamos de ese marco sonoro que salta la línea entre el hard rock y el heavy metal, algo que parecen perpetuar en la nueva obra por salir a juzgar por el adelanto de la misma, que da nombre a la obra, y del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Triddana - Death Blow

DEATH  BLOW 

El segundo LP de estudio de los argentinos Triddana llevó por título "The power and the will", publicado en 2015, y estaba destinado a consolidar a la banda tras su debut de 2012, que les ponía frente a un público que lleno de expectativas esperaba ver que sonido haría esa gran parte de la banda Skiltron que había salido de la misma y se había embarcado en esa nueva aventura. Como era de esperar el sonido bastante clónico de Triddana respecto a Skiltron parecía que era la senda escogida por los músicos, y en el segundo LP, que hoy os ocupa, se añadía la expectación por la salida del cantante del debut haciéndose cargo de dichas funciones el guitarrista Juan Jose Fornés, dueño de gran parte de las composiciones de la banda. El disco, "The power and the will" cuple perfectamente con las expectativas creadas, asentando a la banda en su estilo que no ha abandonado en su periplo hasta la fecha. Steel Arctus - Cry For Revenge

CRY  FOR  REVENGE 

Nuevo paso adelante en la carrera de los griegos Steel Arctus, un grupo formado en 2020 que en este 2025 verá como se publica su tercer LP de estudio. El hilo argumental de la banda va acorde al estilo épico que utilizan, y de hecho el nombre de la banda viene del protagonista de sus historias, un guerrero barbaro a lo Conan que va superando peripecias a modo casi conceptual en cada nueva obra. El nuevo disco "Dreamruler" verá la lu de forma oficial el próximo 28 de noviembre y de él nos han dejado ya algún adelanto como este "Cry for revenge" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Marauder - Sense Of Metal

SENSE  OF  METAL 

Claramente una de las escenas de moda dentro del heavy metal actual es la griega, pero las cosas no son caprichosas, siempre todo es consecuencia de otras cosas, y el enorme momento de forma de la citada escena viene de haber estado haciendo las cosas muy bien desde hace mucho tiempo, muchos grupos han crecido mamando ese sonido de su propia escena, y esas bandas al crecer han creado esa explosión de bandas que actualmente hay en Grecia. Un grupo de los que han contribuido a esa explosión es Marauder, creado a inicios de los 90, y enclavada en un concepto de heavy power de aspiración épica, con siete LP's de estudio a sus espaldas a fecha de esta reseña. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su primer album, "Sense of metal" de 1997, con esa conexión con elheavy metal de la vieja escuela, y concretamente quiero dejar la canción que da nombre al disco, y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Treat - One Minute To Breathe

ONE  MINUTE  TO  BREATHE 

Adentremonos en terrenos de hard melódico moderno pero encarnados en el sonido actual de una banda clásica como son Treat, los suecos que han desarrollado su carrera en dos fases, con una vuelta a la actividad a finales de los 2000, (recordemos que el inicio de su carrera de dio en los ochenta hasta su separación en 1993). Con su sonido "refrescado", la banda ha ido alcanzando un nivel que rivaliza con el de nombres asentados en el subgénero y compatriotas suyos como Eclipse por ejemplo o HEAT. En este 2025 editarán el que será su décimo LP de estudio "The wild card" cuya salida a la venta oficial se espera para el 21 de noviembre, y del que van dejando ya varios sencillos como por ejemplo "One minute to breathe" del que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube de su Lyric Video Oficial.

Syris - Millenium

MILLENIUM 

Syris, la historia de la enésima banda anónima con mimbres para haber logrado algo más además de ser otro de esos grupos que tuvieron una carrera breve desarrollada un poco a destiempo para el tipo de sonido que eligieron desarrollar. Hablamos de la escena estadounidense, de un marco sonoro de heavy metal de la vieja escuela aunque con un toque progresivo, y hablamos de la década de los 90 en cuanto a creación de la banda y desarrollo de su carrera. El resultado final no podía ser otro que el de pasar desapercibido cuando la mayoría de las bandas trataban de huir de un sonido tan clásico evolucionando muchos de ellos a un power más de los 90. Dragonskull - War Drums

WAR  DRUMS 

Nuevo repaso a uno de los debut interesantes de este 2025, el de la banda griega Dragon Skull, con influencia clásica y reminiscencias desde Omen hasta Manowar (en según que tesituras) y ese aire épico, la banda ha creado expectativas con esta puesta de largo en formato LP que desde ahora en adelante deberán confirmar y consolidar. No sin un cierto aire compositivo progresivo, sin llegar a ello el grupo bebe de varias fuentes para mostrar un resultado pues eso, interesante como mínimo. Goddo - Too Much Carousing

 

TOO  MUCH  CAROUSING

Ya que de nuevo estamos en plan raíces de nuestro sonido dejaré en el blog otra banda de las que pusieron su granito de arena a que el heavy llegase a ser lo que ha sido y es, se trata de los canadienses Goddo, que se forma en Ontario en 1975, orientados en parte al rock, pero también denotanto ese ritmo más pesado que en el momento era el proto heavy metal incipiente, como siempre digo los saltos de un subgénero a otro no siempre están claros, los límites son difusos y muchas bandas trasgreden esas líneas a su antojo. La mayor parte de la carrera de la banda se produce en la década de los 70 separándose en 1983. luego algunas reuniones del grupo dan como fruto un cuarto album en 1992, los otros tres datan de 1977, 78 y 79. Su segundo LP se tituló "Who Cares" y de él dejo hoy en el blog el tema que lo cierra, "Too much carousing" del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Motörhead - Dead Men Tell No Tales

DEAD  MEN  TELL  NO  TALES 

Otra banda de esas que se antojan fundamentales para entender el heavy metal en su conjunto, sobre todo con la importante carga histórica de considerarseles pioneros, al ser anteriores a la NWOBHM, tuvieron sin duda parte en la influencia hacia bandas más jovenes que aparecerían en el citado movimiento. Con un sonido un tanto sucio, más punk, es un grupo que a decir verdad nunca terminó de ser de mis preferidos, pero desde luego jamás cuestioné su importancia. La muerte de Lemmy, hace ya diez años, les termina de ascender a la figura de mito, y su carrera larga, llena de reconocimientos hace que así deba ser. Hoy quiero recuperar un tema de su primera parte de carrera, concretamente de su tercer LP de estudio "Bomber", disco de 1979, y del que dejo en el blog su canción "Dead men tell no tales", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Victorius - Dino Race From Outer Space

 

DINO  RACE  FROM  OUTER  SPACE 

Segundo single suelto de los alemanes Victorius que publican desde su último trabajo en formato LP de 2022, consolidando su trayectoria escogida en lo compositivo, y asentandose cada vez más en su temática de dinosaurios alienigenas, una mezcla así a priori que no parecía que les iba a dar tanto se sí pero que ellos han adoptado como identidad e imagen corporativa. Vuelta a la músico alemana Jutta Weinhold, hoy para explorar su carrera en solitario, y es que tras su salida de Zed Yago, la cantante desarrolló una carrera casi al mismo tiempo bajo su nombre junto con la que inicia con la banda Velvet Viper que ella crea e impulsa. Alternandolo, bajo su nombre lo que realmente hace es retomar su carrera que había comenzado en los setenta aunque con un sonido mucho más bluesero, cosa que cambia con la reactivación siendo mucho más heavy en su propuesta noventera. Dos discos en los 70, (76 y 78), dos más en los 90 (93 y 99), y dos más ya en este siglo, (09 y 10), a los que añadir un tributo a Zed Yago en 2011 en formato EP configuran su discografía bajo su propio nombre. Hoy quiero recuperar uno de los temas de su tercer LP "To be or not...", de 1993, en concreto la canción "House of madness" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Megadeth - Tipping Point

TIPPING  POINT 

Criticadísimos por unos, alabados por otros, estamos ante la historia de siempre con las bandas que se hacen demasiado grandes y que parecen hacer creer a todo el mundo que tiene el derecho a hablar de su trabajo de forma absoluta, son los estadounidenses Megadeth, que en este décimo séptimo LP de estudio tiene pensado poner el punto y final a una carrera llena de éxitos. El nuevo disco verá la luz con 2026, bajo el título "Megadeth", y en estos días ha visto como de publicaba su primer adelanto, "Tipping point", una canción que muestra que la banda a pesar de anunciar su fin como grupo en activo, se encuentra en plena forma y de ser una muestra del nivel medio de la obra completa es seguro que cerrará más de una boca crítica.
