A  200 

La leyenda de Deep Purple es de las más alargadas, de las más reconocidas de forma unánime, de las más influyentes, y es que, haciendo un recorrido por su discografía, y solo atendiendo a la magnitud de los músicos que alguna vez se han entrelazado bajo ese nombre no puede ser de otra manera. En los setenta no era raro que las bandas lanzaran hasta un par de obras en el mismo año. En 1974 Deep Purple lo hizo, una de ellas, "burn" ponía de largo a una parte nueva en la formación, David Coverdale y Glenn Hughes tras la salida de Ian Gillan y Roger Glover. Temas superconocidos de este disco han entrado a formar parte de la historia de nuestro sonido, como el tema que le da nombre, otros. más desconocidos son siempre una buena forma de ver el sendero compositivo de la banda y en definitiva la magnitud del grupo. Hablar de Saxon es también hacerlo de pioneros, en este caso de los que encabezaron la NWOBHM, pero hoy los traigo al blog para dejar el primer adelanto de su nuevo trabajo "Gods of thunder" que verá la luz ya en 2027 (oficialmente el 22 de enero). Esta es una muestra más de la capacidad de resistencia de esta banda, en activo ininterrumpidamente desde 1978, camino ya de las cinco décadas, ahí es nada, 25 albumes de estudio, solo por eso merecen ya todo el respeto. Riot - Rock City

 

ROCK  CITY 

Siempre uno, al buscar los pioneros de nuestro sonido, aquellos que fueron artífices de las raices mismas del heavy metal, va con esa sensación de que encontrará pinceladas de los que luego sería el heavy metal, detalles en los que luego otros se apoyarían, como una especie de sopa primigenia de la que germinaría un sonido más reconocible ya en los 80, pero no todo lo que encontramos en los 70 es tan pre heavy, hay algunas bandas que en esos últimos años de la década ya sonaban absolutamente heavy, uno de esos grupos fueron Riot. Los de Reale, adelantados a su época, paridos por la escena estadounidense, debutaron en 1979 con el disco "Rock City", una auténtica maravilla histórica y compositivamente hablando, y del que hoy quiero dejar en el blog otra de sus canciones, hoy la que dio nombre a la obra, "Rock city" y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Insania - Angels In The Sky (25th Anniversary)

ANGELS  IN  THE  SKY  (25TH  ANNIVERSARY) 

Que lástima que esta banda no haya tenido mayor continuidad a la hora de sacar material, de crecer, son los suecos Insania, que habiéndose formado en 1992, y realmente no habiéndose separado de forma oficial, tan solo han llegado a publicar seis LP's de estudio. Su primer pico de actividad, y el mayor hasta la fecha de esta reseña, fue el de inicios del presente siglo cuando sacan la mitad de su discografía entre 1999 y 2002, lo que les puso con todo merecimiento en el mapa, sobre todo, por calidad y por el momento perfecto para ello para los amantes del power de corte europeo. Luego un primer silencio de un lustro hasta su cuarta obra en 2007, y después catorce años más hasta su quinto. Parece que han cogido una cierta inercia de nuevo, pues solo cuatro años después publican el sexto, el pasado 2025, y en este 2026 han aprovechado a regrabar y relanzar el tema "Angels in the sky" originalmente perteneciente a su segundo disco "Sunrise in riverland" que ahora cumple su veinticinco aniversario, y del que dejo hoy en el blog un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Asterise - Fractal

 

FRACTAL 

Asterise es un proyecto de estos nuevos, con enfoque moderno desde la perspectiva del desarrollo de su carrera más que desde el punto de vista compositivo que no deja de ser un power melódico. Hablo de esa manera de existir como banda, conectados on line (Polonia Grecia), con colaboraciones y con mucho auto trabajo y auto promoción, buscándose la vida ellos mismos ante la saturación de bandas como siempre. En 2018 se crea este grupo y desde entonces dos LP's han sido publicados, y en este 2026 la fórmula EP, singles sueltos parece la escogida por el grupo. Scorpions - Fly People Fly

FLY  PEOPLE  FLY 

Scorpions, una vez más una de esas bandas sobre la que todos parecen tener una opinión inamovible, para bien o para mal, y es que cuando un grupo se transforma en un fenómeno de masas sucede que todos creen saberlo todo o creen tener todos los derechos sobre el grupo. Sea cual sea la opinión que uno pueda tener del grupo el hecho objetivo es que es una de las grandes bandas a nivel mundial (no solo dentro del mundo metálico), sus cifras les avalan, pero existe una historia tras la banda, una evolución, una apertura de senderos para los que vendrían detrás, una en definitiva, seria contribución a desarrollar el sonido heavy que hoy disfrutamos, por eso hoy de nuevo vuelvo la cabeza a su discografía inicial, en concreto a su segundo disco "Fly to the rainbow" de 1974, obra que les puso en el camino del sonido que la banda cultivaría en adelante tras su debut de 1972 mucho más orientado al sonido psicodélico tan de moda en ese momento. La evolución hacia un sonido más hard rockero vendría también de la mano de la incorporación a la banda del guitarrista Uli John Roth para esta obra. After Infinity - Infinite Feeling

INFINITE  FEELING 

La banda finlandesa After Infinity comienza a mostrar las primeras pinceladas de lo que será su segundo LP de estudio que se espera para este otoño. Creado en 2022, el grupo en realidad es el concepto musical del guitarrista  Zsolt Szilagyi, quien ha escogido la fórmula de no tener una alineación concreta en la banda, (más allá de él mismo), y funcionar con artistas invitados, sobre todo en funciones vocales. Ya en su primera obra de 2024 hizo lo mismo consiguiendo buenas críticas y ahora parece perpetuase en la idea. Hoy quiero dejar en el blog una de las canciones de su segunda obra, en concreto "Infinite Feeling" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Dirty Tricks - Play Dirty

PLAY  DIRTY 

De vuelta a las mismisimas raices de lo que sería luego el heavy metal, que bebería de multiples influencias, teniendo cabida incluso el hard bluesero, cada matiz, cada detalle enriquecía un sonido que estaba en plena construcción a mitad de los setenta. En este marco encontramos a la banda británica Dirty Tricks, que sacaría tres discos de estudio en esos años poniendo su granito de arena al sonido que vendría. En 1976 publicaban su segundo LP "Night Man", con ese sonido a mitad de camino del hard rock bluesero, del sonido incluso Psicodélico y del protoheavy del momento. Gamma Ray - Dream Healer

DREAM  HEALER 

 Es siempre fantástico resucitar para uno mismo uno de esos grandes discos de tus tiempos pasados, de esos que en algún momento llenaron al salir tus días con repetidas escuchas, seguro que sabes a lo que me refiero, y uno de esos discos podría ser para mí este "Sigh no more", segundo album de estudio de los alemanes Gamma Ray. Era el momento de confirmar a la banda de Kai Hansen tras su debut el año anterior, hablamos de 1991, el debut de 1990 había resultado ser una auténtica joya pero tampoco tuvo la gran repercusión que merecía, para muchos pesaba demasiado la salida de Hansen de Helloween tras los sagrados Keeper, y a muchos les costaba acercarse a lo nuevo del guitarrista, pero en este segundo album confirmaban que iban en serio, evolucionando un poco además, con el fenomenal trabajo de Scheepers además a la voz en el que sería por cierto su último trabajo con la banda antes de que el propio Hansen se hiciese también con el micro. Dragonland - The Prophecy Unfolds

THE  PROPHECY  UNFOLDS 

El 23 de octubre se va acercando y con él la publicación de forma oficial del que va a ser el séptimo LP de estudio de los suecos Dragonland quienes llevan ya unas décadas mostrando su propuesta power, europower, que ha ido consolidándose aunque la banda realmente nunca haya saltado a la primera línea de grupos internacionales, siempre en un segundo plano desarrollando su carrera un poquito a trompicones, sin una continuidad regular, lo que suele lastrar mucho a los grupos a la hora de mantenerse en la mente del metalhead de a pie. CHASING  THE  STORM 

Un grupo más de la super saturada escena británica de los ochenta, de esos grupos de la NWOBHM que literalmente bombardearon el planeta en esos años iniciales de la década citada, muchos de ellos, (como es el caso), con solo una obra de estudio para demostrar sus virtudes, después, la evidencia de la dificultad para asomar entre semejante marabunta de bandas haciendo lo mismo, al mismo tiempo y en este caso el mismo lugar (su escena natal británica) les haría ceder en su empeño demasiado prematuramente. Brymir - Tempestbound

TEMPESTBOUND 

"Tempestbound" es el segundo adelanto del que será ya el quinto disco de estudio de los finlandeses Brymir "What we left behind" y cuya salida de manera oficial será el 2 de octubre. Como siempre la banda hace un ejercicio de melodía y fuerza a partes iguales siempre apoyado por su calidad y en ese marco del death melódico que va mostrando cada vez más la madurez que el grupo va alcanzando tras dos décadas de existencia, han encontrado su camino y lo siguen con firmeza para alegría de los que nos reconocemos seguidores del grupo desde el inicio. Obsession - Winner Takes All

WINNER  TAKES  ALL 

Partamos de la base de la enorme, innegable, la inmensa carga emocional que para mi representa esta obra en concreto de los estadounidenses Obsession, uno de esos discos que a uno le marcan de pequeño, de los que te introducen en este nuestro sonido y que solo por ello siempre serán algo especial para tí, en mi caso una de esas obras es este disco de Obsession, "Scarred for life" de 1986, el primer LP del grupo, para mi gusto con un Michael Vescera desatado a la voz, en su mejor momento en mi humilde opinión, no tanto desde la perpectiva fisiológica, que siempre ha demostrado su enorme capacidad, sino de la forma ultra heavy de interpretar, simplemente perfecta. Un disco que me parece perfecto de inicio a fin, que después de tantos años de escucha me sigue sin cansar, y que terminaré trayendo al blog por completo (inevitablemente). Noisehunter - Made Out Of Steel

MADE  OUT  OF  STEEL 

Otro grupo más de la escena germana, de esos que estaban desde inicios del movimiento mismo del heavy metal aunque como tantos otros en un segundo plano sin llegar a explotar a nivel internacional, formando parte de las muchas bandas que a nivel underground mantenían la esencia misma del heavy metal pero desde la oscuridad del anonimato general. Una de muchas por lo tanto, no solo de la escena alemana sino que este hecho estaba generalizado a nivel global, son muchas más las bandas desconocidas en general que las que llegaron a ser masivas, pero su sonido no tiene en muchos casos por que ser menor. Noisehunter, que así se llamaba este grupo, nace de las cenizas de Noise, que comenzaba a mitad de los setenta, y cuyos integrantes evolucionarían a Noisehunter a inicios de los 80. Una década de actividad de Noisehunter daría como fruto compositivo tres LP's de estudio (86, 88 y 89) antes de que la aceptación de que no tenía pinta de que fuesen a salir del anonimato hiciese que se separasen en 1992. Nuevo adelanto de los escoceses Gloryhammer perteneciente a su nuevo trabajo "Space 1993: Wrath of Kor Virliath", que verá la luz de forma oficial el 16 de octubre. El título de la nueva canción  es "Die with a sword in my hand" y una vez más encarna todas la virtudes de la banda que ha llegado ya a ese punto en que saben perfectamente lo que buscan y sin miedo a críticas ejecutan lo planeado.
