Heidevolk - Een Nieuw Begin

 

EEN  NIEUW  BEGIN

Los Holandeses Heidevolk, otro de esos valores seguros en lo suyo, es ya una banda veterana, (formados en 2002), y saben perfectamente de memoria que sonido quieren, y deben hacer, ese folk metal, de temática vikinga y nórdica, con ese aire rudo, con las letras en su holandés natal. En 2012 el grupo editaba el cuarto de los siete LP's que la banda ha creado a fecha de esta reseña, "Batavi", del que dejo hoy en el blog la canción que abre la obra, "Een Nieuw Begin", de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

MAZE  RUNNER 

Ya en su debut de 2021, los canadienses Master Spy nos dejaron una grandísima impresión, dejaron claro su potencial, y claro, fue inevitable su parecido en ciertos aspectos con los británicos Iron Maiden, lo que les hizo que muchas miradas curiosas pusieran sus ojos en ellos. En 2025 editaba la banda su segundo LP, "Maze Runner", que debería ser la confirmación del grupo, no es fácil muchas veces ese segundo paso cuando se destaca en el primero, pero sin duda la banda sigue la línea de su debut en este "Maze Runner" del que hoy dejo en el blog el tema que le da nombre, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.

Cruachan - Ride On

RIDE ON 

Otra de esas bandas que van cumpliendo años en la escena internacional son los irlandeses Cruachan, con su folk celtico y su sonido oscuro al inicio y progresivamente más melódico. Nace como banda casi con el siglo aunque sus raíces previas se hunden en la década de los 90 y en la banda Minas Tirith. En 2002 el grupo publicaba su tercer LP de estudio "Folk Lore" del que quiero hoy dejar en el blog su tema "Ride On" que es una versión bastante exitosa de Jimmy MacCarthy y de la que dejo hoy un enlace a youtube.

Ereb Altor - Valkyrian Fate

VALKYRIAN  FATE 

Siempre con la eterna fama de ser los discípulos más constantes de Bathory, lo cual resulta ya un poco injusto, los suecos Ereb Altor llevan ya a sus espaldas una discografía lo suficientemente extensa y de calidad para, sin negar la evidente influencia de Bathory merecer hacer brillar su nombre como argumento suficiente para justificar una carrera que a medida que pasa el tiempo se hace más y más sólida. Desde 2008 en que publican su debut 10 son los LP's en total que suponen su discografía, el último de ellos del recién pasado 2025 (febrero) "Halsingemorker", del que quiero dejar hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, "Valkyrian Fate", con la que abren la obra y de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

La aparente facilidad para crear canciones coreables de los germanos Freedom Call sigue intacta, y mira que son ya años ejercitandolo, pero en este 2026 nos llegan de nuevo sus ecos compositivos a través de un nuevo single, que veremos si desemboca en un nuevo album. El nuevo tema lleva por título "Heavy metal happycore", en una onda muy Freedom Call, y para la que cuentan con la colaboración de Petri Lindroos de Ensiferum. Skyfire - Breed Through Me, Bleed For Me

BREED THROUGH ME, BLEED FOR ME 

Procedentes de Finlandia, Skyfire es una banda nacida a mediados de los 90, compositivamente hablando se sumerge en el death melódico, con algún destello power, un sonido muy propio de su escena natal, y es igualmente una de esas bandas que no se han prodigado mucho en lo que a obras publicadas se refiere. Llevan unos cuantos años de silencio desde su último trabajo publicado, (2017) y más aún desde el último LP publicado (2009) ya que el trabajo de 2017 fue en formato EP, así pues cuatro LP's más tres EP's son su legado a fecha de esta reseña ya que en teoría siguen en activo. Warmen - Untouched

 

UNTOUCHED 

Los finlandeses Warmen se reinventaron hacia 2023 para dar ese cambio necesario para una banda cuando se siente estancada, y, tras un silencio de casi una década en el citado 2023 editaban su sexto LP de estudio "Here for none" con la incorporación de Petri Lindroos a la voz (Ensiferum) así como el mucho más deconocido Seppo Tarvainen a la batería, así pues, de ahí en adelante, el heavy power melódico y de vocación neoclásica del inicio de su carrera se tornaría un death melódico con un cierto trasfondo power en adelante. En este recién pasado 2025  editaba la banda su segundo LP de estudio con esta nueva fórmula (séptimo de su discografía), "Band of brothers" publicado el pasado agosto. De dicha obra dejo en el blog hoy su canción "Untouched" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Dethklok - The Lost Vikings

THE  LOST  VIKINGS 

De las muchas fórmulas para crear una banda, hay alguna que se sale digamos de los cauces habituales por su planteamiento anecdótico podríamos decir, como ocurre con los estadounidenses Dethklok, planteados como una banda virtual que da vida a una serie para adultos, donde todos los tópicos del heavy metal tienen cabida de una manera absolutamente llevada al extremo, sátira de este mundillo nuestro que sin embargo siempre, desde el inicio, supo componer la banda sonora de la serie de manera perfectamente real, hasta el punto de alcanzar gran aceptación que terminaría por alimentar a la serie y con ella a la propia banda para publicar ya, a fecha de esta reseña, seis LP's desde 2006 en que comienza esta aventura. Wings Of Steel - We Rise

WE  RISE 

En nuestra inevitable necesidad de etiquetar y acotar las cosas resulta más que probable que al analizar el sonido de los estadounidenses Wings Of Steel acuda a nuestra cabeza el de sus compatriotas Queensryche, o incluso un cierto toque Skid Row en algunos detalles, sin embargo es siempre injusto comparar a las bandas emergentes con nombres pretéritos y sobre todo tan grandes, lo que resulta innegable ante la banda angelína es que la calidad está de su parte, que en lo compositivo como en lo interpretativo este grupo está llamado a grandes cosas y teniendo en cuenta la juventud de la banda (formada en 2019) y su crecimiento desde su primer album a este segundo "Winds of time" de 2025 deberíamos esperar esas grandes cosas. Nightcreepers - Pursuit Of The Wolf

PURSUIT  OF  THE  WOLF 

La parte central y final de la década de los 2000 fue terreno abonado para que muchas bandas escogiesen el death melódico de corte folk para intentar desarrollar su carrera, muchas de ellas procedentes de la Europa Escandinava, pero no todos los grupos que nacieron al calor de Ensiferum y similares procedían de allí, otros provenían del otro lado del charco, y algunos de escenas europeas no demasiado tradicionales en esos campos compositivos como es el caso de los franceses Nightcreepers. Formados en 2003 el grupo publica su primer album en 2009, "Svingeheim", disco que les servía para presentar sus credenciales y hacía pensar en un futuro como mínimo interesante. Después, con el tiempo se vería que no terminaban de explotar y tras un corto periodo de actividad de apenas un lustro con tres albumes den total hasta 2014 llegaría el silencio. De su debut dejo el tema "Pursuit of the wolf" del que dejo un enlace a youtube. Pues eso, muy "Ensiferumico".

Castle Rat - Wizard Crystal Heart

WIZARD  CRYSTAL  HEART 

A primera vista, por los ojos, la banda estadounidense Castle Rat parece sacada de la parte final de los setenta, con esa imagen de las obras oscuras de los citados años, y en lo sonoro estamos sin duda ante un planteamiento similar, centrando su argumentación compositiva en aquel doom primigenio un tanto Black Sabbath o Pentagram, de nuevo una banda de formación reciente que echa un vistazo atrás para rendir tributo al sonido inicial pero en los años presentes. Formados en 2019, el grupo ha editado dos LP's de estudio, (2024 y 2025) centrado en ese Doom de influjo y pretensión fantástico épico, y hoy, de su segundo LP del recién pasado 2025, "The bestiary", quiero dejar en el blog su canción "Wizard crystal Heart" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial, todo un viaje estético a épocas pretéritas.

Coroner - Renewal

 

RENEWAL 

Nuevo caso de banda que se reivindica muchos años después de su parada con un album absolutamente destacable. Son los suizos Coroner, que llevaban en silencio desde 1993 tras su quinto album de estudio que ponía el silencio en su carrera, una banda a la que se le daría desde ese momento un cierto aire de culto para la escena thrash, y que como digo, tras tres décadas de silencio, el recién pasado 2025 editaban su sexto LP "Dissonance Theory" que ha cosechado un enorme éxito de critica y una enormemente agradable sorpresa para sus seguidores. Nuevamente la escena griega deja claro su enrome estado de forma a través en esta ocasión de la banda "Leatherhead" de reciente formación y que ya dejase un grandísimo sabor de boca con su debut "Leatherhead" de 2024 y que en este 2026 tendrá continuidad en "Violent Horro Stories" cuya salida oficial se espera para el 13 de febrero y del que ya nos han dejado un adelanto, "V.H.S." del que dejo un enlace a youtube de su clip oficial.

Crematory - Shadows Of Mine

SHADOWS  OF  MINE 

A comienzos de los noventa se forma la banda alemana Crematory, siempre con un sonido propio, personal, que funde estilos y los varía por épocas para dar forma a su propia fórmula. El grupo formado en 2001 ha llegado hasta hoy en día con un parón en 2000 para casi inmediatamente reanudar su actividad que de momento ha dado como fruto 17 LP's de estudio, el segundo de ellos "...Just Dreaming", de 1994, muy al inicio de su carrera y del que dejo hoy en el blog una de sus canciones, "Shadows of mine" de la que dejo un enlace a youtube.

I  AM  ADAM  McSIX 

Este 2026 será el año de la confirmación de la banda "Angus McSix", en lo que parecía una venganza de un músico despedido de una banda similar, (otra de esas historias recurrentes a lo largo de la historia), pero claro, si esa propuesta a priori un tanto hueca está respaldada por un primer disco al menos digamos que notable, y si tras la composición está un nombre como el de Seeb Levermann, entonces la cosa cambia, y el empaque del grupo no sería extraño que terminase por eclipsar al grupo a "agredir", a poco que se mantenga el esfuerzo compositivo. En este 2026 como digo veremos la continuación del magnífico citado debut, a través de la obra "Angus McSix and the seeing astral eye", cuya salida oficial se espera para el trece de marzo y del que hoy dejo en el blog este otro adelanto, "I Am Adam McSix", con la colaboración para mayor atención de Rhapsody Of fire, y del que dejo un enlace a youtube.
