JUDGEMENT DAY
Jag Panzer son
una banda estadounidense de heavy power metal que comenzaron su andadura
musical con el inicio de los 80. Empezaron con el nombre de "Tyrant"
que mantuvieron durante 1981, y en ese mismo año lo cambiaron a Jag
Panzer debido a la gran cantidad de grupos que se habían puesto ese
nombre de "Tyrant" en esa época, varios de ellos en su misma zona de
residencia. Comienzan a editar material ya como Jag Panzer en 1983 con
su EP homónimo al grupo"Jag Panzer". Desde entonces 9 discos de estudio
en tres épocas diferentes son su legado musical hasta la fecha de esta
reseña. Su producción musical se antoja un tanto corta, y es que han
tenido dos separaciones, una en 1988, que dura 5 años, hasta 1993 y la
otra en 2011, fecha de su última obra de estudio editada, "the scourge
of the light", aunque se supone que después han vuelto ha reunirse en
2013 pero sin nada nuevo editado desde su vuelta. Además, la peculiar
forma de entender al grupo por parte de los integrantes ha hecho que
éste se resintiera en más de una ocasión. El grupo lo crean John Tetley
(bajo), Mark Briody (guitarra y teclados), Rick Hyliard (Batería), y
Harry "The tyrant" Conklin (Vocalista). En 1984 se les une el buen
guitarrista Joey Tafolla que ha tenido una cierta carrera en paralelo en
solitario y con otras bandas que le ha hecho entrar y salir de Jag
Panzer en varias ocasiones. Igualmente le ha sucedido a Harry Conklin en
cuanto a proyectos paralelos, como las bandas "Satan's Host" o "Titan
Force", aunque ha diferencia de Tafolla, Conklin ha estado presente en
todas las obras de Jag Panzer hasta el momento. Volviendo a la música de
Jag Panzer, sus inicios se acercaban más a un heavy metal de corte
clásico para ir evolucionando a un power metal de corte un tanto
"oscuro" y de efectividad demostrada. Hoy quiero hablar de su digamos
segunda época, tras su primera reunión en 1993, ya que de su primera
época juntos que duró más de diez años solo podemos encontrar una obra
de estudio, su "Ample of destruction" de 1984, un disco del que
hablaremos aquí más adelante. Evidentemente el pluriempleo musical de
Conklin a la voz en tres bandas simultaneamente pasó factura a Jag
Panzer que, como digo, solo pareció tomar carrerilla editando material
tras su primera disolución y reunión, en 1993, sacando su segunda obra
de estudio en 1994, diez años después de su debut. Hoy quiero hablar de nuevo de
su tercera obra de estudio, "The fourth judgement", de 1997, en que su
reconversión al power metal es ya un hecho. Un disco bastante bueno que
tendría su confirmación en 1998 con su cuarta obra "Age of mastery". Volviendo al disco que nos
ocupa, "The fourth judgement" quiero destacar hoy otra de sus canciones, en concreto la canción "Judgement Day" una canción con la que parece por su inicio tranquilito que estamos ante un medio tiempo, pero no es exactamente así, basta esperar un minutillo. Dejo
